Crypto Is The “Industry Of The Future”: David Sacks

**President Trump’s Crypto and AI Czar David Sacks Advocates for U.S. Leadership in Digital Innovation**

David Sacks, appointed by President Trump as the White House AI and Crypto Czar, is making a bold case for America to reclaim its leadership role in digital innovation. Calling cryptocurrency “the industry of the future,” Sacks emphasizes the urgent need for clear regulatory standards to keep crypto innovation onshore.

Speaking alongside a16z co-founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, as well as entrepreneur Erik Torenberg, Sacks criticized the Biden administration’s “regulation by enforcement” approach. He argued that, under SEC Chair Gary Gensler, crypto entrepreneurs have been prosecuted instead of being provided with clear rules to follow.

> “All the entrepreneurs I’ve talked to over the years say the same thing: just tell us what the rules are,” Sacks said.
> “During the Biden years, you had an SEC chairman who took an approach, which I guess has been called regulation through enforcement, which basically means you just get prosecuted.”

### Making the United States the Crypto Capital of the Planet

Sacks highlighted President Trump’s campaign pledge to make the U.S. “the crypto capital of the planet” and to remove Gary Gensler from his position, noting that this message resonated strongly with voters.

> “He’s talked about how surprised he was at the big ovation he got at that,” Sacks observed, underscoring the growing political significance of crypto policy.

Looking ahead, Sacks said that under the Trump administration, the goal will be to establish regulatory clarity that both protects consumers and fosters innovation and competitiveness in the sector.

> “Providing certainty means entrepreneurs can build here in America,” he added.

Last night on *60 Minutes*, President Trump reinforced his support for crypto in the United States, stating,

> “I only care about one thing: will we be number one in crypto.”

### Crypto, AI, and America’s Technological Future

The discussion also touched on competition with China in artificial intelligence, the need for a comprehensive federal crypto framework, and the critical role of abundant energy resources in powering future technologies.

Sacks positioned both cryptocurrency and AI as twin pillars of America’s technological leadership—sectors that he believes will define the next decade of global economic growth.

### Sacks’ Role and Key Initiatives

Since his appointment in December, Sacks has served part-time to shape policy across AI and cryptocurrency sectors. His approach advocates for pro-innovation and deregulatory policies that provide a clear legal framework for the cryptocurrency industry.

Among his notable achievements, Sacks was instrumental in crafting the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. This new federal Bitcoin reserve is to be funded using BTC already owned by the U.S. government through asset forfeitures, meaning it will incur no taxpayer cost.

> Sacks described the reserve as a “digital Fort Knox,” explaining that the government will hold—not sell—these assets. This policy aims to prevent past mistakes, where premature Bitcoin sales resulted in taxpayers losing over $17 billion in unrealized gains.

With renewed leadership and clear regulatory guidelines, David Sacks and the Trump administration aim to position the United States at the forefront of the crypto and AI revolutions, securing America’s status as a global technological powerhouse.

Dogecoin (DOGE) Risks Adding Zero to Price by End of 2025

According to the latest price projections, Dogecoin’s price setup looks like a time bomb with a slow fuse. The recent break below the $0.18 level was neither manipulation nor an accidental slip; rather, it represents the final line holding DOGE back from reopening the path toward $0.12.

What’s even more concerning is the possibility that Dogecoin’s price could fall below $0.10 by the end of 2025. Prominent analyst Ali Martinez highlights that the DOGE chart currently sits inside a prolonged channel, where every rebound encounters the same wall of trapped sell supply. Unfortunately, nothing in the current market conditions suggests that investors are willing to defend this zone.

If the projection plays out as expected, the next 12 months for Dogecoin may be painful. A dip to $0.16 looks almost guaranteed this quarter, followed by a slow crawl down into the $0.14–$0.12 territory through the end of the year. By the end of 2025, the once-coveted $0.10 level might stop being just a fantasy and start appearing as the new fair value zone.

Importantly, this is not a crash setup but rather an erosion—a drawn-out decline that occurs when no one is left willing to buy the dip and the hype phase has already expired.

**DOGE History Matches the Decline Perfectly**

Every strong spring rebound in Dogecoin has ended the same way: enthusiasm fades, trading volume collapses, and the chart quietly bleeds for months afterward. Unless the market surprises with a rally to reclaim $0.18 per DOGE rapidly, the meme coin’s most probable path is down the slope it has already begun—a slow, mechanical decline ending near $0.12, where the extra zero waits to come back home.

Jaime King Makes Rare Comment About Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story began in July 2023, when the singer’s Eras Tour made a stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. As a huge Swiftie, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended the show with hopes of giving Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it. However, he was unable to complete the gesture due to her pre-show rituals.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis shared on the July 26 episode of his *New Heights* podcast. “So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

After publicly recounting his fumble—a move Taylor would later describe as “metal as hell”—Travis decided to shoot his shot and invited the Grammy winner to watch the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium. “I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” he shared on *The Pat McAfee Show*. “I told her, you know, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.’ So, we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

At the time he was first introduced to Taylor, Travis was sporting a mustache, which he had debuted in August during training camp. As he later noted, “That ‘stache and the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a little bit, and I had it when I met Taylor for the first time.”

Accepting Travis’ invite, Taylor joined the athlete’s mom, Donna Kelce, at Arrowhead Stadium to watch him and the Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears. After the game, the couple was seen sharing PDA at a local bar.

Though there was speculation that this was the couple’s first in-person meeting, the “Karma” singer later clarified that they had spent a “significant amount of time” getting to know each other beforehand. As Taylor explained, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

During a bye week, Travis traveled to Argentina to catch the South American leg of Taylor’s Eras Tour. Not only did the NFL star bond with Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, at the November 11 show in Buenos Aires, but he also received a special shoutout from the stage.

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

After the show, the *Midnights* artist was seen running up to Travis backstage and greeting him with a passionate kiss.

Taylor also addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games. “I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she told *Time* magazine. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone.”

Jay-Z, NFL Defend Bad Bunny as Petition to Replace Him with George Strait Tops 100,000

The NFL has confirmed that there will be no change in the performer for the halftime show at Super Bowl 60, despite ongoing calls for a switch.

In September, the NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which is producing the show, announced that three-time Grammy winner Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show on February 8. The Puerto Rican rapper is a global superstar expected to attract a wave of first-time football viewers.

However, in the U.S., Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has faced criticism due to his past remarks opposing former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. This controversy has sparked calls for a different performer.

In response to the backlash during a press conference, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated, “The NFL is not considering dropping Bad Bunny. It’s carefully thought through. I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”

Goodell also acknowledged that the decision on the Super Bowl performer ultimately rests with Roc Nation and Jay-Z. The music mogul seemed to suggest that the critics actually harbor deep positive feelings for Bad Bunny despite the controversy.

As the excitement builds for the 2026 Super Bowl, fans can look forward to a halftime show that promises to bring both star power and diverse cultural influence to the grand stage.

Packers Release Veteran Linebacker After Loss to Panthers

The Green Bay Packers continued to adjust their roster on Monday, releasing linebacker Kristian Welch. A sixth-year veteran out of Iowa, Welch was in his second stint with the Packers. He made his season debut in Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers after being elevated from the practice squad.

Currently, the Packers sit atop the NFC North with a 5-2-1 record.

### Packers Lose Core Special Teamer to IR

After spending the first eight weeks on the practice squad, Welch, 27, was signed to the 53-man roster following an injury to core special teamer Nick Niemann. Welch played 10 special teams snaps on Sunday: four on kickoff coverage, and three each on kickoff return and punt return.

With the Packers scheduled to host the Philadelphia Eagles next Monday, it’s possible that Welch could be re-signed in the coming days. His release leaves the Packers thin at linebacker.

Niemann, a fifth-year veteran with 11 tackles in seven games, was placed on injured reserve Saturday due to a pectoral injury. Niemann, whose 114 special teams snaps rank third on the team behind Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper, will miss at least the next three games before being eligible to return this season.

### Welch’s Second Stint with the Packers

Welch was also with Green Bay in 2023, recording six tackles in 14 games. He signed with the Denver Broncos the following offseason but was released after just six games. He finished the 2024 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens, reuniting with the franchise that signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

In 73 career NFL games (with two starts), the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Welch has amassed 40 tackles (20 solo) and one fumble recovery.

### Packers Star Tight End Diagnosed with ACL Tear

In another tough blow for the Packers, tight end Tucker Kraft was placed on injured reserve with an ACL tear. Kraft, who turned 25 on Monday, was having a breakout season with 32 receptions for a team-high 489 yards and six touchdowns in eight games.

With Welch released and Kraft landing on IR, the Packers now have two open spots on their 53-man roster as they navigate through these midseason challenges.

Bitcoin pays the price as OG whales take profits: More losses ahead?

**Key Takeaways**

**What is the main factor driving the recent sharp price decline in Bitcoin?**
Bitcoin OGs and Megawhales have been aggressively selling, offloading over 17,000 BTC and increasing the supply available for selling.

**What is Bitcoin’s short-term resistance and critical support level?**
BTC must breach the $111,513 resistance for a rebound or risk dropping below the $106,124 support level to $103,571.

Since hitting $116K a week ago, Bitcoin (BTC) has faced massive downside pressure, dropping to a low of $106K. At press time, Bitcoin was trading at $107,758, down 2.79% on the daily charts.

Amid this bearish market sentiment, long-term large holders have accelerated the downtrend by increasing the supply available for immediate selling.

### Bitcoin OGs Are Dumping

As Bitcoin struggles, three OGs have sold a combined 17,265 BTC, considerably reducing their holdings. According to Lookonchain:

– Bitcoin OG (1011short) deposited 13,000 BTC, worth $1.48 billion, onto exchanges including Kraken, Binance, Coinbase, and Hyperliquid.
– Whale Owen Gunden sold 3,265 BTC worth $364.5 million on Kraken.
– Insider whale 19D5 (Hyperunit seller) sold 1,000 BTC through Kraken and has moved a total of 2,455 BTC into Kraken and Hyperunit, reducing his holdings to 35,800 BTC.

### Megawhales Selling Intensifies

These three whales are not isolated cases. Megawhales have been aggressively selling as well. According to Checkonchain:

– On November 2nd, Megawhale balance change surged to 32.6K BTC before dropping to 23.4K BTC on November 3rd.
– In total, Megawhales deposited 56,000 BTC into exchanges, exceeding their withdrawals, which indicates intense selling pressure.

Typically, aggressive selling by Megawhales reflects a lack of market conviction as they anticipate further downside. Increased exchange deposits from this group raise the supply available for immediate selling, accelerating the risk of further price declines.

### What’s Next for BTC?

According to AMBCrypto, Bitcoin’s sharp decline amid aggressive whale selling positions it for potentially more losses. Historically, increased selling by whales has led to lower prices.

If Megawhales and OGs continue dumping, BTC could breach the critical support at $106,124 and drop further toward $103,571. Conversely, if retail investors—especially smaller holders (shrimp)—increase their accumulation pace, they could provide some support.

Such retail-driven support could position BTC for a rebound toward the $111,513 resistance level. However, this rebound largely depends on positive macroeconomic data hitting the market.

**Summary:**
Bitcoin’s recent sharp price decline is largely driven by heavy selling from OGs and Megawhales, who have offloaded over 17,000 BTC, increasing selling pressure. The key levels to watch are $111,513 on the upside and $106,124 on the downside. Continued whale selling risks pushing BTC below support, while increased retail buying could help stabilize and rebound prices if supported by favorable macroeconomic conditions.

Bengals HC Zac Taylor Makes Big Coaching Staff Announcement After Devastating Loss

The Cincinnati Bengals keep finding ways to lose in excruciating fashion. After letting the New York Jets rally late against them in Week 8, the Bengals were the ones attempting a comeback in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears. While they briefly pulled off a wild rally, their defense fell apart at the worst possible time, allowing the Bears to secure a 47-42 victory.

Although the offense has been moving the ball well with Joe Flacco under center, the defense simply cannot get stops. This situation has created quite a challenge for head coach Zac Taylor.

### Coaching Changes: Zac Taylor Stands Firm

There has been significant finger-pointing following this loss, prompting Taylor to address his coaching staff’s future. Despite the struggles, Taylor announced that he does **not** plan on making changes to his coaching staff.

Entering the 2025 season, it was clear the Bengals could face defensive issues. With so much investment in offensive stars like Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins, the front office had limited flexibility to improve the defense during the offseason. For example, Trey Hendrickson’s contract was not finalized until just before the start of the campaign.

While Burrow’s toe injury complicated the offense, Flacco’s arrival has helped stabilize it. Since Flacco took over as starter, Cincinnati’s offense is averaging an impressive 32.8 points per game, which should be enough to win games. However, the defense has been allowing 36 points per game, resulting in a 1-3 record over that stretch.

All eyes are on first-year defensive coordinator Al Golden, who currently appears to have no clear answers. Although the roster presents challenges, no defense should allow over 35 points per game as the Bengals have recently.

Taylor commented on the situation:
“No. These are good football coaches. They’ve been successful everywhere they’ve been. We’re still in the first half of the season. We all know we got to play better as a football team. There’s been challenges our offense has faced over the course of the season. We worked through them. We’re playing better for it. There’s challenges our defense is facing right now. I’m confident that we’re going to work through it. We’re going to play better football and find a way to win some games. I believe in these guys. Absolutely. We’ll continue to work through it and find solutions.”

### Should Zac Taylor Fire Al Golden?

Golden earned widespread acclaim for turning the Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s defense into one of college football’s best units during his three seasons as defensive coordinator. That success led Taylor to believe Golden could restore the Bengals’ defense.

Instead, defensive performance has deteriorated, raising questions about Golden’s job security after just nine games.

As the season progresses, all eyes will remain on both Golden and Taylor to see how they address the defensive struggles and whether the Bengals can find their footing.

Hegseth Revisits Vietnam and Korea, Sites of America’s Two Bloodiest Wars Since World War II

Secretary Pete Hegseth is revisiting some of the scenes of America’s two bloodiest wars since World War II, buttressing defenses against the same enemies—the Chinese and the Russians—with whom Americans fought and died in Vietnam and Korea.

In South Korea, Mr. Hegseth is focusing on a highly sensitive topic: transferring operational control to the top Korean commander in time of war from the American general who commands U.S. Forces Korea as well as the Combined Forces Command and the UN Command. American and Korean negotiators are addressing the trickier aspects of this transfer, while the Americans press the South to increase defense spending and contribute more to the costs of keeping 28,500 American troops on bases there, as President Trump demanded in his first term.

Mr. Hegseth got a first-hand taste of the standoff on the Korean peninsula after spending two days in Vietnam discussing the shipment of heavy arms for the Vietnamese Communists, who fought the Americans and their South Vietnamese allies using Chinese and Soviet weapons between 1965 and the American withdrawal in 1973.

Just after flying to Osan Air Base, south of Seoul, from Hanoi, Mr. Hegseth headed to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that has divided North and South Korea since the end of the Korean War. There, he was greeted by South Korea’s defense minister, Ahn Gyu-back, who escorted him to the Joint Security Area (JSA)—the site where the war truce was signed in July 1953.

Mr. Ahn noted that Mr. Hegseth had called the JSA “the frontline of division and a place of dialogue.” This carefully constructed remark acknowledged the importance of the JSA as the venue for negotiations when President Trump met North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for the third time in June 2019. It was also at the JSA that Mr. Kim met former South Korean president Moon Jae-in in 2018, during a period of hopeful North-South rapprochement.

For Mr. Hegseth, the visit to the DMZ was typical of visits made by thousands of sightseers, but it also symbolized the American-Korean alliance amid deepening North-South confrontation. Currently, Mr. Kim refuses to meet with anyone from the South, which he has declared the “enemy” while tightening his alliance with Russia’s president. North Korea has sent thousands of troops and steady shipments of arms to Russian forces in Ukraine.

Mr. Hegseth is urging South Korea to invest more in its own defense and possibly increase its share of the costs for American troops and bases, which currently stand at $1.1 billion a year under President Biden. During his first term, President Trump demanded $5 billion annually but has not repeated that figure during his second term. Trump also did not mention defense during his recent visit to Pusan, where he met President Xi Jinping ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference in nearby Gyeongju.

After meeting other defense ministers in Kuala Lumpur on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, Mr. Hegseth flew to Hanoi. There, he discussed selling warplanes and other arms in meetings with Vietnam’s leader To Lam, general secretary of the ruling Communist Party, as well as with Vietnam’s president Luong Cuong and defense minister General Phan Van Giang.

Mr. Hegseth is believed to have discussed the sale of aircraft—including transport planes and helicopters—to a regime that has moved much closer to America in the 30 years since Hanoi established diplomatic relations with Washington, two decades after the Vietnam War ended in 1975.

During the Vietnam War, Russia supplied Hanoi with heavy ammunition, including short-range missiles that shot down numerous American warplanes, while China provided rifles and machine guns. The legacy of Vietnam weighed heavily on Mr. Hegseth’s visit.

As a symbol of regretful remembrance, he “returned” to Vietnam some souvenirs belonging to a deceased Communist soldier, including a belt, a knife, and a leather box. Mr. Pham, a Vietnamese official, in turn gave Mr. Hegseth identification cards of two American soldiers.

More significantly, they discussed measures to combat Agent Orange, which was sprayed over vast stretches of jungle, as well as ongoing efforts to search for missing American soldiers.

Finally Defeating Self-Sabotage: Virginia Republicans Embrace Early Voting

You go to war with the army you have, not the one you want. The same principle applies to elections: you vote according to existing laws, not the laws you wish existed.

With good reason and principle, Republicans generally remain skeptical of a long, drawn-out voting period—often described as “Election Month”—and the risks of ballot custody issues that can arise during mail-in voting. However, Virginia, with its Democrat-led Legislature and a tendency to vote left, presents a different dynamic. Meanwhile, Republicans are beginning to take note and adjust their strategies.

As October drew to a close, early voting in Virginia in some areas continued to favor Republican-leaning districts, a trend that was also observed through late September. Earlier this year, data from the Virginia primary elections showed higher turnout in Democrat-led areas. Yet, in the current general election, early voting in most state House districts leans toward Republicans. This trend bodes well for conservative candidates facing the typical challenges of Virginia’s off-year elections.

That said, estimates of the partisanship of early voters from The Virginia Public Access Project reveal a more nuanced picture. While likely GOP voters lead in early in-person ballots, likely Democrat voters hold a larger lead in mail-in ballots. Overall, most early ballots so far are from likely Democrat voters.

Virginia votes for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general in the year following a presidential election. Historically, the party opposite the president’s party often wins the Virginia Executive Mansion in Richmond.

“Republican identifiers are likely becoming more comfortable with voting in advance than they were previously, a trend we’ve seen in other states as well,” said Kyle Kondik, managing editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia Center for Politics, in an interview with The Daily Signal.

“Republicans have become more open to voting early, particularly early in-person. The best voting method for Republicans is likely Election Day itself, although the gap between early in-person and Election Day voting was smaller in 2024 than it was in 2021,” Kondik added.

Early voter turnout in Virginia this year is significantly higher than four years ago. As of October 30—five days before Election Day—early balloting is up nearly 25% compared to the same time last year and has already exceeded the total number of ballots cast in the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election.

Data from the Virginia Department of Elections shows that among the top 20 state House districts for ballots cast, 12 are in GOP-led areas, six are Democrat-leaning or strongholds, and two are toss-up, competitive districts. Conversely, among the bottom 20 districts for early voting turnout so far, 14 are Democrat-leaning or Democrat strongholds, while only six are Republican-leaning or strongholds.

While this measure is not perfect, it offers some indication of voter fervor and intensity across the state.

Kondik also shared district-by-district vote totals for Virginia’s 11 federal congressional districts in 2024, sourced from The Downballot, a left-leaning election site.

“As you can see, the district that produced the most presidential votes was VA-01, which is a GOP-leaning but competitive district,” Kondik noted. “The second-highest was VA-05, the third-most Republican district in the state. The one that produced the least votes was VA-03, one of the bluest districts.”

Comparing the 2024 early voting results with turnout so far in 2025, the five congressional districts currently held by Republicans each have more early votes cast this year than their comprehensive total in 2021. Only one of the six Democrat-held districts—Congressional District 11—shows this trend.

Even though the RealClearPolitics aggregate of polls currently favors Democrat Abigail Spanberger over Republican Winsome Earle-Sears by 8.9 points in the Virginia governor’s race, the contest remains largely within the margin of error.

No matter who wins on Election Day, the continued strong turnout by conservative voters in early elections will be crucial in determining whether liberty thrives or faces setbacks in our beautiful commonwealth.

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Ten Pound Poms’ On BritBox, About Brits Who Struggle To Start A New Life In 1950s Australia

**Ten Pound Poms: Stream It or Skip It?**

After World War II, the governments of both Australia and New Zealand sponsored programs that allowed residents of England to migrate to their countries for a mere £10. In the 2023 drama *Ten Pound Poms*, which aired in the UK and Australia, we follow several people who took advantage of that program and explore the ups and downs of building a new life in the Southern Hemisphere.

### Opening Shot

On a snowy day in 1956 England, we see Terry Roberts (Warren Brown) working on masonry at a factory, then flash back to a battle he fought in during World War II. Terry deals with those haunting flashbacks through drinking. One night, after he passes out in the street, a neighbor fetches his wife Annie (Faye Marsay), who brings him home. As Terry writhes in his own vomit on the floor, in full view of their children Pattie (Hattie Hook) and Peter (Finn Treacy), Annie spots a newspaper ad promising a new life in Australia for only £10.

### The Journey Begins

The Roberts family boards the ship that will take them on their journey to a new life. Meanwhile, we meet Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan), who is supposed to be traveling on the same ship with her fiancé, Henry Broad (Hugo Johnstone-Burt). When everyone disembarks in Sydney six weeks later, Kate arrives alone. She tells the immigration officer that Henry changed his mind. He warns her that British passports are held by authorities for two years, a condition she accepts.

### Settling In—Or Not

Excited about their new adventure, the Roberts family soon discovers that the immigrant camp they are housed in is nothing like the advertisements promised. Terry struggles to find work and ends up digging ditches because Australians have first dibs on jobs.

Terry’s workplace is hostile. A co-worker named Dean (David Field) bullies him relentlessly, using the derogatory term “Pom” (a nickname for British immigrants) and claiming “Poms can’t even use the latrine.”

Meanwhile, Annie ventures into town and cunningly secures a job as a department store supervisor, despite lying by telling the manager her husband was dead. Terry, however, believes her place is at home, taking care of the family.

### Kate’s Secret Mission

Kate, on the other hand, takes a truck belonging to JJ Walker (Stephen Curry), the site supervisor, and heads to Sydney to visit the port office. She seduces JJ to get the keys to access immigration records, searching for someone she came all the way to Australia to find. The mystery of Kate’s story unfolds gradually, hinting at a darker backstory.

### What Shows Will It Remind You Of?

Created by Danny Brocklehurst, *Ten Pound Poms* bears some resemblance to *A Thousand Blows*. Many reviewers have also compared it to *Call The Midwife*, given its period setting and focus on personal struggles.

### Our Take

The Assisted Passage Migration Scheme was a real post-WWII program initiated by the Australian and New Zealand governments. It offered British families, struggling in postwar England, a chance to start fresh in a warm climate with suburban middle-class opportunities.

As depicted in the series, things were far from easy for British immigrants. The first episode effectively illustrates how Aussies derisively called “your majesty” those new Brits, mocking them for being out of place—even when families like the Robertses were working class.

As Dean cruelly tells Terry, “You got Blacks in Britain, don’t ya? Well, over here, you’re the Black.” This highlights the resentment many Australians felt towards British immigrants, whom they saw as job-takers. It takes much effort for the Brits to earn the Australians’ trust.

### Two Stories, One Darkening Path

The Robertses’ storyline portrays a working-class family trying to rebuild their lives amid adversity, while Kate’s narrative is shrouded in mystery and tension from the outset. Her deliberate choice to leave her fiancé behind hints at deeper motives, revealed subtly as she searches immigration records.

Both stories turn dark by the episode’s end. Terry, having finally found some acceptance among his coworkers, becomes entangled in a drunken accident caused by Dean, which may threaten his future. Kate’s plan also starts to falter as complications arise.

We’re eager to see how these dark turns unfold, particularly Terry’s storyline. Will the near-fatal accident haunt him as he tries to build a new life? Meanwhile, there are other stories in need of development—Annie asserting herself as a working woman, Pattie facing a possible pregnancy, and a side story involving JJ’s affair with Sheila Anderson (Emma Hamilton), a resident of the camp eager to return to England.

### Sex and Skin

The first episode contains no explicit content.

### Parting Shot

The episode closes with Terry returning from that fateful night with Dean, brooding on what lies ahead.

### Sleeper Star

Faye Marsay is underrated in her role as Annie. She brings depth and nuance to the character, especially during her confession to the department store manager, and her candid reflections on why her family left England.

### Most Pilot-y Line

Terry talks to Annie about their honeymoon B&B, describing the owner as having “a face like a smacked arse.”

### Our Call: STREAM IT

*Ten Pound Poms* is a generally watchable drama that explores the trials faced by British immigrants in post-WWII Australia. While a sudden dark turn in the first episode and a few underdeveloped subplots leave some questions open, the series promises a compelling look at resilience, identity, and cultural clashes.

If you’re interested in historical dramas that tackle real social issues with emotional depth, *Ten Pound Poms* is worth watching.
