Fellowship: All Ascensions and Curses, explained

With Fellowship already in Early Access, players are jumping into the game’s most challenging system: Ascension and Curses. These are special modifiers, specifically designed to increase the challenge of dungeons and adventures in Fellowship, further adding depth to each run. Whether you are challenging yourself or pushing for a leaderboard spot, understanding these systems is crucial to success.

In this guide, we will break down every Ascension and Curse in Fellowship—from how each of them works to how you can overcome the challenges.

## Fellowship: What Are Ascensions and Curses?

Both Ascensions and Curses in Fellowship are difficulty modifiers appearing in ranked playthroughs. You will only encounter these while climbing the competitive ladder and **not** in Quickplay.

While both Ascensions and Curses modify adventures and dungeons, their effects differ in nature:

– **Ascensions:** These are generally considered regular difficulty escalations that test your potential and team synergy without making any drastic alterations to the overall gameplay.

– **Curses:** These modifiers completely alter how gameplay works, introducing varying mob behaviors, environmental hazards, and debuffs that require a complete change of strategy.

Both systems are designed to challenge players who want to climb the ranked ladder by testing their abilities as well as teamwork under pressure.

## How Ascensions and Curses Activate

In Fellowship, these modifiers activate depending on your rank:

– **Contender 4+:** 1x Ascension (Asha’s Dilemma)
– **Contender 7+:** 2x Ascensions (Asha’s Dilemma and Vayr’s Legacy)
– **Adept 1+:** 1x Curse and 1x Ascension
– **Adept 7+:** 2x Curses
– **Max level+:** 2x Ascensions and 2x Curses

## Fellowship: Ascensions

Ascensions are minor dungeon modifiers that make each dungeon run more systematic by affecting enemy behaviors, timers, and scoring without completely changing the core mechanics. Currently, during its Open Beta phase, dungeons can have **up to two active Ascensions** at the same time.

Once you reach **Contender 4**, these modifiers begin to show up and increase in number as you rank up.

### Confirmed Ascensions in Fellowship:

#### 1) Asha’s Dilemma (Contender 4+)
The first Ascension adds a **time limit** to every dungeon. Finishing under the time limit grants you full score and rewards. Exceeding the limit gradually reduces your rewards and score. To balance this challenge, you gain a **bonus Spirit Generation** capability once the time limit expires.

#### 2) Vayr’s Legacy (Contender 7+)
Unlocked with the first capstone dungeon, this Ascension makes enemies tougher by granting additional abilities to some mobs. These new movesets vary from dungeon to dungeon, typically making fights more complicated. Vayr’s Legacy requires you to be extremely aware of enemy movements and control the battlefield more efficiently.

#### 3) Asha’s Regret (Adept 1+)
At Adept rank, Asha’s Dilemma evolves into Asha’s Regret. The timer remains the same but removes the Spirit generation boost once the timer goes out. Instead, it **reduces dungeon completion rewards by one upgrade level**, creating a high penalty for running overtime.

## Fellowship: Curses

Curses are modifiers that drastically alter core gameplay, introducing both opportunities and hazards. This dynamic system rotates different Curses weekly from a pool of 10, providing fresh dungeon challenges regularly.

Curses start appearing at the rank of **Adept**, adding one Curse initially and increasing to two per Champion Rank.

### Available Curses in Fellowship:

#### 1) Binding Ice
A random player is afflicted and explodes after five seconds, immobilizing all players and enemies caught in the blast. If timed correctly, the explosion can be used strategically to immobilize enemies.

#### 2) Blood Shards
Enemies explode on death, dealing 2% of their max health as damage to the group, while granting you 1% experience (XP) per stack for 30 seconds (stacks up to 15). This makes killing enemies quickly risky, as the explosions can harm your team.

#### 3) Carnage
Distributes 10% of all incoming player damage among the group as Damage over Time (DoT), punishing careless group-wide damage. However, your party heals for 10% of the damage dealt, encouraging smarter play.

#### 4) Empowered Minions
Certain enemies spawn with increased health and power. Killing them grants your team **20% Movement Speed and Haste** for 40 seconds, encouraging aggressive play.

#### 5) Malevolent Spirits
Killing an enemy spawns a Malevolent Spirit that buffs nearby enemies with 50% Damage Reduction and 20% Haste until the spirit is neutralized.

#### 6) Meteor Rain
Meteors periodically fall from the sky, dealing major damage. Each meteor explosion grants your team two Spirit Ability Charges.

#### 7) Shadow Lord’s Trial
Enemies no longer give kill scores but drop Shadow Orbs instead. Collect 30 orbs to spawn and defeat the Emissary of the Shadow Lord to gain kill scores.

#### 8) Stone Skin
Regular non-boss enemies have 30% increased health and explode on death, dealing 15% of their maximum health as damage to nearby enemies, potentially causing chain reactions.

#### 9) Ultimatum
This Curse increases boss health and damage output by 10%, while reducing all player cooldowns by 10%, making fights longer and more intense but allowing more frequent ability use.

These Ascensions and Curses keep dungeon runs in Fellowship exciting and challenging, encouraging players to adapt and refine their strategies regularly.

Stop using Facebook for public announcements | Letter

This letter is a plea to local communities and businesses to stop relying solely on Facebook—a corporate, for-profit information-gathering platform—as the medium for announcing local events.

I do not want to visit a town’s official website only to be redirected to Facebook for further information about local recreation or entertainment opportunities. I am not a Facebook member by choice, and I prefer to keep it that way. I do not want my personal data used to further Facebook’s profits and influence.

When I am redirected to a Facebook page, I am often denied access unless I agree to join the platform. This feels like coercive behavior.

If I want to attend events like Naples’ Rocktoberfest, take swimming lessons in Casco, or play basketball in Harrison, I would truly appreciate it if these communities allowed me to read about these opportunities directly on their own websites.

Similarly, when Pleasant Mountain is opening for the season, their staff should communicate this information on their official website—not just via Facebook.

Local communities and businesses have the power to make information accessible to everyone. Let’s encourage them to provide event details on their own platforms so no one is excluded.

Is Kuldeep Yadav playing today’s AUS vs IND 2025 1st T20I?

The suspense around ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s participation ended as the coin toss took place ahead of the opening T20I between India and Australia in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29. Team India skipper Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that the veteran left-arm spinner is part of the playing XI for the series opener.

Kuldeep has been in red-hot form across formats, especially in T20Is, where he picked up a tournament-leading 17 wickets in seven outings during India’s recent Asia Cup 2025 triumph. “Big headache, good headache to have. Guys missing out are Rinku, Washi, Jitesh, Arshdeep, and Nitish,” said the skipper.

Boasting an excellent overall T20I record, Kuldeep has taken 86 wickets in 47 matches at an impressive average of 13.12 and an economy rate of 6.70, including two five-wicket hauls. The 30-year-old played a vital role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph last year and has been instrumental in their dominant run since then.

Ahead of the five-match T20I series, Kuldeep featured only in the final ODI of India’s 1-2 series defeat to Australia. He finished with figures of 1/50 in 10 overs as India avoided a series whitewash with a nine-wicket win.

In the first T20I, Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to field first.

**When Did Kuldeep Yadav Last Play a T20I in Australia?**

Kuldeep Yadav last played a T20I in Australia at the end of the 2018 season. In the three-match series that ended in a 1-1 tie, the wily spinner participated in all three games. He picked up four wickets across the matches at an outstanding average of 16.50 and an economy rate of 5.50. In his last outing in Australia, held in Sydney, he finished with miserly figures of 1/19 in four overs.

Since the 2018/19 series, the Men in Blue have played only one bilateral T20I series in Australia—in 2020. However, Kuldeep did not participate in that series, which India won 2-1 in the three-match affair.

The champion spinner also boasts excellent T20I numbers overall against the Aussies, having taken eight wickets at an average of 19 and an economy of 6.33 in six games.

When AI malware meets DDoS: a new challenge for online resilience

In most industries, discussions about AI revolve around four themes: ethics, return on investment, the risk of machines taking human jobs, and growing energy demand. However, in cybersecurity, the picture is quite different. Here, AI has already become an effective weapon for attackers, fueling ransomware campaigns and enabling malicious tools to write their own code, bypass CAPTCHAs, and drive increasingly destructive DDoS attacks.

### AI Becomes an Attacker’s Tool

AI has firmly established itself as a key part of the cybercriminal toolkit. Research from MIT Sloan shows that in 2023-2024, 80% of ransomware attacks relied on AI in some form. Looking ahead to 2025, this trend is accelerating rapidly.

Specialized models like GhostGPT—stripped of ethical safeguards—are now readily available for all types of cybercriminal activities, from writing phishing emails and generating malicious code to creating fraudulent websites. Bots such as AkiraBot leverage AI to bypass CAPTCHA protections and flood sites with spam.

In late August 2025, ESET researchers uncovered PromptLock—the first ransomware written by AI. This discovery demonstrated how malicious code can now be generated on the fly by large language models (LLMs), rather than being hardcoded into executables by human hackers.

These examples highlight that attackers are adopting AI at scale, rendering traditional defense mechanisms far less effective. DDoS protection is no exception.

### Why This Matters for DDoS Attacks

DDoS attacks come in many forms, but the hardest to mitigate are application-layer (Layer 7) attacks. These attacks overwhelm web servers with traffic that looks legitimate. The near-universal adoption of HTTPS on modern websites makes it even harder to distinguish malicious requests from genuine user activity, since nearly all traffic is encrypted.

For years, the primary defense measure was to separate humans from bots and block the latter using CAPTCHAs (Completely Automated Public Turing tests to tell Computers and Humans Apart). This usually involved clicking a box, typing distorted text, or identifying objects like traffic lights and fire hydrants. The underlying assumption was that humans could pass these challenges, while bots would fail.

That assumption no longer holds true.

Malware equipped with AI can now solve CAPTCHAs and blend seamlessly into legitimate traffic, silently contributing to botnets. Research from ETH Zurich last year confirmed this by creating an AI model that solved Google’s popular reCAPTCHAv2 CAPTCHA—featuring images of bicycles, bridges, and more—as well as humans could.

Simply put, defenders can no longer reliably tell humans and bots apart because AI-driven bots mimic average human behavior convincingly.

### The Stakes for Enterprises

This shift raises the stakes for all organizations, but large enterprises will feel the impact most acutely. For them, the risks extend far beyond temporary service disruption.

A successful AI-driven DDoS attack can cause severe reputational damage, erode customer trust, and for publicly traded companies, negatively affect investor confidence and stock prices.

### The Solution: Intent-Based Filtering

The answer lies in intent-based filtering. Rather than asking whether a visitor is human or a machine, this approach evaluates **behavioral intent**: what users are doing on the site and whether their actions are productive or destructive.

– Is the visitor engaging in genuine customer behavior, such as reading content, completing transactions, or requesting reasonable amounts of data?
– Or does their activity resemble meaningless page-grinding aimed solely at generating server load?

By shifting focus from unreliable intelligence tests to behavioral intent, defenders gain a valuable opportunity to detect AI-driven bots—even when they convincingly mimic human users.

This transition is rapidly becoming the baseline for defending against application-layer DDoS attacks in the era of AI-enabled malware. Organizations must adapt quickly.

### Recommendations for Enterprises

– **Invest in DDoS mitigation platforms that support intent-based filtering**, not just CAPTCHA-based detection.
– **Deploy layered monitoring across applications, networks, and endpoints** to catch anomalies early.
– **Conduct regular stress tests simulating AI-enhanced DDoS scenarios** to ensure resilience under real-world conditions.

At the same time, it’s important to note that most managed security providers **do not yet offer intent-based filtering**. Therefore, enterprises must carefully evaluate vendors to ensure defenses are adequate against this new generation of threats.

Additionally, every organization should maintain a clear incident-response playbook that defines responsibilities and outlines communication protocols with customers in case of downtime.

### Are You Ready for the New Challenge?

Cybersecurity has long been on the edge of transformation. While other industries are still debating the negative impacts of rapid AI adoption, cybersecurity is already grappling with a clear and present menace.

This reality forces companies to rethink how they protect their systems, test their resilience, and prepare for the next wave of attacks—undoubtedly AI-driven.

Choosing the right security tools and partners will be critical to successfully navigating this new landscape.

Atletic Lleida vs Espanyol Prediction and Betting Tips | October 30th 2025

Atletic Lleida will host Espanyol at the Camp d’Esports on Thursday in the opening round of the 2025-26 Copa del Rey campaign. The hosts will be hoping to cause an upset by getting a result against a top-division side this midweek.

Atletic Lleida have had a difficult time finding their feet in the Segunda Federación Group 3, having won only one of their eight games played in their debut season in the fourth tier of Spanish football. The Catalonian side, who have just one win from their last five games, will also be making their debut appearance in the main stages of the Spanish Cup this midweek. Nevertheless, they remain optimistic about booking their place in the second round.

Espanyol, on the other hand, have started their season in remarkable fashion. They have picked up five wins and three draws from their opening 10 games in La Liga and are currently sitting in fifth place in the division. The Parakeets were embarrassingly eliminated in the second round of the domestic cup last season following a 2-0 loss to fourth division side Union Deportiva Barbastro. This season, they will be keen to show significant improvement and reach the latter stages of the tournament.

### Atletic Lleida vs Espanyol Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

Thursday’s fixture will mark the first ever meeting between the two sides. Espanyol have won the Copa del Rey four times in their history, most recently in the 2005-06 season. Notably, Espanyol have not lost a first-round game in the domestic cup since the 2002-03 season.

In terms of current form, Atletic Lleida have scored 11 goals and conceded 12 in eight league games this season, while Espanyol have scored 14 and conceded 11.

### Atletic Lleida vs Espanyol Prediction

Atletic Lleida will need something close to a miracle to avoid defeat against a much stronger side in far better form. Their main aim will be to put up a respectable performance in front of their home fans.

Espanyol will be confident of coming away with a win and booking their spot in the next round. They will just need to avoid complacency to secure an easy victory.

**Prediction: Atletic Lleida 0-3 Espanyol**

### Atletic Lleida vs Espanyol Betting Tips

– **Tip 1 Result:** Espanyol
– **Tip 2 Goals Over/Under 2.5:** Over 2.5 goals
– **Tip 3 Both teams to score:** No (Both sides have found the back of the net in just one of Espanyol’s last four games)

Circle debuts public testnet of its payment-focused Arc chain – Details

**Key Takeaways**

– **What’s next for Arc as it rolls out public testnet?**
If the test is successful, the payment-focused chain could soon launch on the public mainnet for everyone.

– **Why is Arc’s progress important?**
It signals incoming shifts across the stablecoin payment ecosystem, raising questions about whether Ethereum will maintain its dominant position.

Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, is nearing the launch of its Arc chain—a global, payment-focused Layer 1 blockchain powered by digital dollars. On October 28, the firm announced the start of public testing for the chain alongside key design partners.

These partners include major banks, insurers, and asset managers such as BlackRock, HSBC, and Absa. According to Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, these institutions serve billions of users and manage trillions of dollars in assets worldwide. He stated that Arc is designed to seamlessly connect local markets and developers to the global economy. Allaire dubbed Arc the “economic OS of the internet,” emphasizing its unique purpose as a platform built to bridge every local market to the global financial system.

### Stablecoin Payments Heat Up

Beyond its focus on global and agentic payments, Arc also aims to support on-chain foreign exchange (FX) and capital markets through tokenization. BlackRock’s Global Head of Digital Assets, Robert Mitchnick, highlighted FX and tokenization as key areas of interest in the project. He noted, “Exploring Arc will provide insight into how stablecoin-denominated settlement and on-chain FX capabilities might enable more efficient capital markets and unlock additional utility for on-chain assets.”

Other tech and finance giants such as Google, Stripe, and Tether have similar ambitions. For example, Tether’s Plasma [XPL] chain is already live and manages around $6 billion of stablecoin supply, making it the fifth-largest blockchain for digital dollars.

Google’s GUCL and Stripe’s Tempo chains are also expected to launch soon. Collectively, these new payment-focused chains could pose a challenge to Ethereum’s market share in stablecoin settlements, according to some analysts.

### Ethereum’s Position in Stablecoin Markets

Currently, out of the $305 billion total stablecoin supply, Ethereum controls $162 billion, accounting for approximately 53%. Tron (TRX) holds about a quarter of the total market share, with the remainder distributed among various other chains.

In terms of stablecoin transfers, Ethereum continues to hit record volumes every month. In fact, this October marked a milestone as the stablecoin transfer volume on Ethereum surpassed $2 trillion for the first time.

However, with the emergence of Arc, Plasma, Tempo, and Google’s payment chains, it remains to be seen whether Ethereum will maintain its dominance or see its market share erode in the evolving stablecoin ecosystem.

Stay tuned as this dynamic space unfolds, potentially reshaping the future of digital dollar payments and blockchain finance.
