In keeping with tradition since 1955, Brazil will speak first, followed by the United States as the host country. This long-standing custom began when Brazil offered to speak first at the 10th General Assembly.

### Key Discussion Points

The assembly is expected to focus heavily on pressing global tensions, particularly the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza and Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump will address the UNGA on the opening day, Tuesday, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also scheduled to speak later in the week.

### Representation of Major Powers

Several major powers are sending senior delegations to the assembly. Russian President Vladimir Putin will miss the gathering for the second consecutive year, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov leading Moscow’s delegation.

China will be represented by Premier Li Qiang instead of President Xi Jinping. Similarly, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to represent India at the session.

### Bilateral Talks and Diplomatic Engagements

On Monday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with India’s S. Jaishankar to discuss strengthening strategic cooperation across trade, defense, energy, and critical minerals.

Bihar elections 2025: AIMIM leader Owaisi to launch Seemanchal Nyay Yatra

Bihar elections are just around the corner, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) striving to maintain its lead over the opposition. At the same time, the INDIA bloc appears to be adopting a progressive approach to contesting the assembly elections in Bihar.

As reported by news agency PTI, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is set to kickstart the Bihar Assembly elections campaign with the “Seemanchal Nyay Yatra” from September 24 to September 27 in the Seemanchal region of Bihar. During the yatra, Owaisi will conduct roadshows and corner meetings across various assembly constituencies in Seemanchal, according to an official release by AIMIM.

The Hyderabad MP will launch the Seemanchal Nyay Yatra from Kishanganj, aiming to unite the people for development and to demand justice for the Seemanchal region. AIMIM’s official statement highlighted Owaisi’s focus on the region’s backwardness. He has also introduced a private members’ bill in the Lok Sabha, calling for the establishment of a ‘Seemanchal Region Development Council’ under Article 371 of the Constitution to address regional underdevelopment, as cited by PTI.

In the previous 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, AIMIM contested 25 assembly constituencies and won five seats, all located in the Seemanchal region. With the upcoming elections expected to be more challenging for every party, AIMIM is likely to contest more seats this time. Reports suggest that many influential political leaders and social workers are keen to contest elections on AIMIM tickets.

Meanwhile, the Congress party is also strategizing to strengthen its foothold in Bihar. On Monday, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) announced that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and other prominent leaders will attend its working committee meeting in Patna on Wednesday, September 24.

AICC Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru stated that the meeting is scheduled in Bihar due to the state’s significance as the site of the “second war of independence.” He further confirmed that the INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial candidate for Bihar will be RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, with the Congress officially endorsing the decision, according to PTI.

With parties gearing up for a fiercely contested election, the political landscape in Bihar promises to be dynamic and closely watched.

Fresh thyme: 5 recipes you’ll love

**Fresh Thyme: 5 Recipes You’ll Love**
*By Simran Jeet | Sep 23, 2025, 01:20 pm*

Fresh thyme is a versatile herb that can elevate the taste of various dishes. Its earthy flavor and aromatic qualities make it a favorite among chefs and home cooks alike. Whether you’re looking to add a new twist to your meals or simply want to enjoy the natural goodness of this herb, here are five creative ways to use fresh thyme in your cooking.

### 1. Thyme-Infused Olive Oil
Creating thyme-infused olive oil is an easy way to add flavor to salads and pasta dishes. Simply combine fresh thyme sprigs with olive oil in a bottle and let it sit for a week. The infusion process allows the oil to absorb the essence of the herb, resulting in a fragrant addition to your culinary repertoire. Use it as a dressing or drizzle over roasted vegetables for an extra layer of taste.

### 2. Thyme and Lemon Roasted Potatoes
Roasting potatoes with fresh thyme and lemon is an excellent way to bring out their natural sweetness. Toss potato wedges with olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and chopped thyme before roasting them in the oven until golden brown. The combination of citrus and herb creates a delightful contrast that enhances the overall flavor without overpowering it.

### 3. Herbal Tea with Fresh Thyme
Making herbal tea with fresh thyme is an easy and refreshing way to enjoy its health benefits. Simply steep a few sprigs of thyme in hot water for five minutes. Add honey or lemon for extra flavor, if desired. This simple drink not only hydrates but also provides soothing qualities that can help with digestion and relaxation.

### 4. Thyme-Scented Vegetable Broth
Adding fresh thyme while preparing vegetable broth gives depth and complexity to soups or stews later on. Simmer vegetables like carrots, celery, and onions along with water, salt, peppercorns, bay leaves, and several sprigs of thyme until flavorful. Strain out solids before using the broth as a base for your dishes throughout the week.

### 5. Grilled Vegetables with Thyme Marinade
A marinade made of olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and chopped fresh thyme can transform grilled vegetables. Marinate zucchini, bell peppers, and mushrooms for 30 minutes before grilling. The result is a smoky, herb-infused flavor that enhances the natural sweetness of the vegetables, making them a delightful addition to any meal.

Fresh thyme is a simple yet powerful ingredient that can bring new life to your everyday cooking. Experiment with these recipes and enjoy the fresh, aromatic flavors thyme has to offer!
