There’s No Gender Equality in Heart Health – Liberty Nation News

If you think a quick jog or a few gym sessions a week will keep your heart in top shape, you might want to think again—especially if you’re a man. New research suggests men may need to exercise twice as much as women to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system.

### When It Comes to a Healthy Heart, Sex Matters

A large study published in *Nature Cardiovascular Research* examined how much exercise men and women need to lower their risk of heart disease. Researchers tracked more than 85,000 adults from the UK Biobank—people who did not have heart disease at the start—and followed them for nearly eight years.

Instead of relying on self-reported exercise habits, participants wore devices such as fitness trackers that recorded how much they actually moved throughout the day. The results revealed a surprising difference between men and women.

### Exercise Benefits: Women vs. Men

Women who exercised a few hours a week experienced major heart benefits. Specifically, women who got about four hours of moderate-to-vigorous activity weekly reduced their risk of heart disease by roughly 30%.

Men, however, needed nearly twice as much activity—around nine hours per week—to achieve the same level of protection.

The study also investigated deaths from coronary heart disease (CHD), which can lead to heart attacks. Women who met the standard exercise guidelines of about 150 minutes per week were 70% less likely to die from CHD. In contrast, men saw a much smaller reduction in mortality risk—only about 19%.

### Current Exercise Guidelines vs. Study Findings

Currently, major health organizations like the World Health Organization and the American Heart Association recommend the same amount of exercise for everyone: at least 150 minutes of moderate activity (like brisk walking) or 75 minutes of vigorous activity (like running) per week.

This study suggests that this one-size-fits-all recommendation may not be sufficient for men to achieve optimal heart health.

### Why the Difference? Biological and Hormonal Factors

The researchers did not pinpoint exactly why the results differ by sex but suspect biological and hormonal factors play a role. Women naturally produce more estrogen, which helps keep blood vessels flexible and may affect how the heart responds to physical activity.

Men and women also store fat differently and have different body compositions, which could influence how exercise impacts their cardiovascular systems.

A report published by PubMed Central explains:
> “While it is widely recognized that the female heart is smaller than the male heart, it has long been ignored that it also has a different microstructural architecture.
> On average, the mass of the adult female heart ranges from 230 to 280 g and is about 26% lighter than the male heart, which varies from 280 to 340 g. For both women and men, the mass of the heart continues to increase with age, and female hearts remain consistently smaller than male hearts.”

Women also tend to have higher resting heart rates than men, but their hearts take longer to transition from contraction to relaxation.

### Additional Factors Increasing Men’s Risk

Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel discussed the study on *America’s Newsroom*, noting that men typically have higher testosterone levels, which can be “bad for cholesterol.” Men also tend to accumulate fat “in the wrong places,” such as in the gut, leading to inflammation.

Lifestyle factors contribute as well. Dr. Siegel pointed out, “We smoke more, we drink more, we don’t exercise as much. All of that puts us at risk for heart disease.”

### Sex-Specific Heart Disease Prevention

The study’s findings add to what doctors have long observed: men and women often experience heart disease differently. Women tend to develop heart disease later in life, often after menopause when estrogen levels decline, whereas men usually develop it earlier.

The authors emphasized the importance of tailored prevention strategies:
> “Our findings underscore the value of sex-specific tailored CHD [coronary heart disease] prevention strategies using wearable devices, which may help bridge the ‘gender gap’ by motivating females to engage in physical activity.”

### Participant Details and the Bigger Picture

The average age of participants was around 61, with 57.3% women included in the primary study. In the mortality analysis, the average age was 66, and women made up 30% of that group.

Heart disease remains the world’s leading cause of death, responsible for nearly 18 million deaths annually according to the World Health Organization. In the United States alone, it causes one in every five deaths.

**Bottom line:** While any exercise is better than none, men may need to double their workout time compared to women to significantly reduce heart disease risk. This new evidence could revolutionize exercise guidelines and promote more personalized heart health recommendations for both sexes.

Brigitte Macron’s Dramatic Transformation: French First Lady ‘Changed Appearance’ Following Candace Owens’ Trans Conspiracy, Daughter Claims

Oct. 28, 2025, Published 6:30 p.m. ET

French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife, Brigitte, has been forced to alter her appearance and change her wardrobe amid ruthless scrutiny of her gender sparked by far-right conspiracies, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

On October 28, the trial for 10 suspects accused of cyberbullying the French first lady entered its second day. Brigitte’s daughter told the court her mother is “constantly under attack” and her health has “deteriorated” as a result of the conspiracy theories.

Her daughter’s claims come after popular conservative podcast host Candace Owens promoted the baseless claims on her show – and doubled down when she was threatened with legal action from the Macrons.

Brigitte Macron’s Daughter Speaks Out at Cyberbullying Trial

Brigitte shares three adult children with ex-husband André-Louis Auzière, whom she divorced in 2006. She married Emmanuel Macron, 47, whom she first met when he was 15 years old while working at a private school, in October 2007.

Her youngest daughter, Tiphaine Auzière, 41, reportedly told the court her mother “knows that her image could be taken and distorted” because of the transgender conspiracy theories. As a result of online attacks, Tiphaine said her mom has been extra conscious of “her postures” and “her outfits.”

“She Cannot Ignore the Horrors Being Said”

Her daughter added: “She cannot ignore the horrors being said.” Tiphaine further claimed the 72-year-old is “constantly under attack,” and now her grandchildren have become aware of the cruel rumors.

She added: “It was important to be here today to express the prejudice. I wanted to report what her life has been like since she suffered this hatred.”

Among the 10 suspects on trial are eight men and two women. The suspects could face up to two years behind bars if they’re found guilty of “numerous malicious comments” about Brigitte’s gender and sexuality.

Origins of the Conspiracy Theories

Conspiracy theories about Brigitte were initially sparked by a YouTube video, in which two women claimed the mother-of-three was actually born a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux and later transitioned to a woman before marrying Emmanuel.

In reality, Trogneux is actually Brigitte’s brother, whom Tiphaine testified was “in great shape” when she last saw him a few months ago.

Candace Owens ‘Wants Brigitte Macron’s Medical Records’

The conspiracy was quickly picked up and promoted by Owens, who has been sued by the Macrons for defamation.

As RadarOnline.com reported, Owens recently told her massive audience she was “coming for (Brigitte’s) medical records” after being slapped with the lawsuit.

She said on her show: “We’re going to demand Brigitte sit down for an exam with an independent doctor. We’re coming for her medical records.”

Owens’ bold claims came after the Macrons were prepared to submit “photographic and scientific” evidence disputing the far-right podcast host’s allegations.

The Macrons’ lawyer, Tom Clare, said his clients were willing to demonstrate “generically and specifically” that Owens’ claims were false. He additionally noted there would be “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature,” but did not provide details on any specifics.

Clare added: “It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself to put this type of proof forward.”

Glenside teacher, author, and mother launches book and business to highlight passion for math

Glenside resident Shameeka Browne is a mother of five, business owner, and teacher who has recently added another accomplishment to her resume: author. Browne’s new book, *Queen of 24*, tells her personal story while also highlighting her passion for math.

She hopes that her book, along with her business called Math is All Around Us LLC, will help children and their parents gain a deeper understanding of math. Through her endeavors and business, Browne aspires to open a space for teachers who want to try out new activities to teach math to their students and see if the exercises work in the classroom.

“I see that there is a greater need for families to be empowered with how they can help their child with their math education,” she said. “The great thing about passion is it becomes contagious, but it just can’t be the passion, it also has to be the love for the young people that are sitting in front of you.”

Browne credits her love for math to one of her teachers at Wagner Middle School, Mr. Plummer, who is featured in the book as well. She plans to release five more books, with each focusing on the varying age groups of her five children—from preschool to college.

“I want to help families understand the roles that they have in their child’s math education,” she said. “It truly does start at home, and the math that your child sees from the time that they wake up in the morning to the time that they go to bed at night—we can take advantage of that.”

During the writing and creative process, Browne faced some challenges. Uncertainty about having enough money to publish, fear that her story was not worthy of being published, and a publisher terminating two weeks before she was to show the cover to her family and supporters left her with feelings of inadequacy.

“I’m a math person, and it’s ironic that I put myself in the same position that I tell my students not to do,” Browne said. “When they say they are not math people, I prove to them that they are. But on the flip side, I was telling myself that I wasn’t a writer because who could be both? I can be both.”

Browne was able to find someone who could adequately reflect the story she was telling—an illustrator, Philly native Reggie Byers, who also had done some artwork at Wagner Middle School.

“I look at the cover, and I want to cry,” Browne said. “What was different about this illustrator was that I did not send him any pictures other than a picture of myself during that time in middle school and my family. When I tell you I saw the cover and said, ‘This looks like me.’”

She managed to sell over 200 copies before the book was released to the public, a real feat for most first-time writers. The book is currently available at [www.mathisallaroundus.org](http://www.mathisallaroundus.org), and she continues to help the next generation find their love and passion for math as a math specialist and content lead in the Lower Merion School District.

“Her passion for math is omnipresent in much of what she does and sees,” said Jameelah Hairston, a Glenside resident. “She challenges you to see how math is everywhere and present in many everyday activities and tasks.”

Just one in three senior management roles held by women

Women hold just one in three senior management jobs in the UK, according to figures that highlight the ongoing lack of equality at the top levels of firms.

Research conducted by the Women in Work Summit and LinkedIn revealed that nine in ten male bosses are replaced by other men. In contrast, when a female leader steps down, the replacement is evenly split between men and women.

Journalist Mariella Frostrup, founder of Women in Work, emphasized the importance of gender equity, stating, “Gender equity is not just achievable—it’s transformative, across any sector.”

The report also recommends providing support for women who wish to take career breaks to care for children or relatives, addressing one of the key challenges they face in career progression.

Sue Duke, LinkedIn’s Director for Europe, commented on the situation: “Women are entering the workforce in equal numbers but remain blocked from advancing. CEO succession shows it starkly.”

Adding to these concerns, a report by MPs last year found that the battle against sexism in the City is progressing at a “snail’s pace,” amid shocking levels of sexual harassment.

These findings underscore the urgent need for continued efforts to promote gender equality and create inclusive workplaces where women can thrive in leadership roles.

Slovakia passes constitutional amendment recognising only two sexes

Slovakia’s parliament has passed a constitutional amendment recognizing only two sexes, along with other measures that critics say may breach the country’s international obligations and undermine human rights protections.

The amendment, drafted by the government of populist Prime Minister Robert Fico, required a three-fifths majority to pass. It was approved with 90 votes in the 150-seat National Council, with support from twelve conservative opposition politicians who helped the ruling coalition secure the vote.

### Key Changes in the Amendment

The revised constitution now explicitly recognizes only two sexes: male and female. It also states that Slovakia retains sovereignty in matters of national identity—a term not specifically defined—particularly regarding fundamental cultural and ethical questions.

Additionally, the amendment makes it nearly impossible for anyone other than married couples to adopt children. The constitution had already defined marriage as a unique union between a man and a woman.

Parental consent is now required for access to sexual education, and equal pay for men and women is guaranteed.

### Reactions and Criticism

Justice Minister Boris Susko told parliament that the amendment aims to bolster traditional values. However, the move has faced strong condemnation from human rights organizations.

Amnesty International criticized the decision, stating: “Today, the Slovak government chose to follow the lead of countries such as Hungary, whose policies have led to an erosion of human rights.”

Michael O’Flaherty, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, had previously urged Slovak politicians not to approve the changes. He warned that “seeking to disapply specific rights because they touch upon ‘national identity’ would be fundamentally incompatible with the Slovak Republic’s international obligations.”

O’Flaherty also highlighted that the amendment denies the realities of trans and intersex people and may negatively affect human rights guarantees, including access to legal gender recognition.

### Political Context

Robert Fico has long been a divisive figure in Slovak politics. Critics argue that under his leadership, Slovakia has abandoned its pro-Western trajectory, instead aligning more closely with Hungary under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Thousands of people have repeatedly rallied in Bratislava and across Slovakia to protest Fico’s pro-Russian stance and other controversial policies.

This latest constitutional amendment marks a significant shift in Slovakia’s legal and social landscape, raising concerns about the future protection of minority rights and international commitments.
