Fishermen In Marathwada Region Suffer ₹22 Crores Loss Due To Floods & Heavy Rainfall
Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane on Friday stated that preliminary estimates indicate fishermen in the Marathwada region have suffered losses amounting to Rs 22 crore due to recent floods and heavy rainfall.
Rane visited Phulambri taluka of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district in central Maharashtra to assess the damage faced by fishermen amid the downpours and floods affecting the region, which comprises eight districts. He later chaired a meeting with officials in the city to discuss the issue further.
Speaking to reporters, Rane said, “I came here to review the losses suffered by fishermen. Our officers have provided me with detailed information. A full report on the damage is being prepared. Currently, the losses have been pegged at Rs 22 crore. This figure is expected to rise as some surveys are still underway.”
The minister assured that the government would provide adequate assistance to the affected fishermen. “We will ensure that fishermen receive maximum aid, just like farmers,” he added.

Bombay HC Stays Investigation Into Vidhan Bhavan Brawl, NCP Leader Claims Case Politically Driven
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday stayed the investigation into a case arising from a scuffle inside the Maharashtra Assembly premises involving supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction, including former state cabinet minister Jitendra Awhad.
### Interim Protection Granted to NCP Member
A bench comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad, on October 1, restrained the Investigating Officer from proceeding further with the probe into the July 18 FIR registered at Marine Drive police station. This interim protection will continue until the petition is decided.
### Petition Filed Against Alleged Political Targeting
The court was hearing a plea filed by Nitin Hindurao Deshmukh, a member of the Pawar faction of the NCP. Deshmukh had been arrested in connection with the case but was granted bail by a magistrate on July 21.
His advocate, Rahul Arote, argued that the case was “baseless and politically motivated” and sought the quashing of the FIR. The plea alleged that the FIR was lodged with mala fide intent, asserting that the only claim against Deshmukh was that he had engaged in a quarrel and allegedly manhandled policemen who tried to intervene.
### Legal Arguments on Applicability of Charges
The petition emphasized that there was no allegation of assault or obstruction that could attract Section 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which penalizes assault on public servants. It also questioned the applicability of charges relating to unlawful assembly, affray, and use of criminal force, citing the absence of evidence indicating a common object or violent clash.
“At most, there was commotion and verbal altercation during the protest,” the plea stated.
### Entry with Valid Pass Highlighted
Deshmukh’s legal team further highlighted that he had entered the high-security Vidhan Bhavan with a valid entry pass, undermining any claims of unlawful intent.
The Bombay High Court has listed the matter for further hearing on November 12.

Telangana: Missing Class 9 Girls Found After Sexual Assault; 3 Men Arrested
Hyderabad: Three men were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting three minor girls from the city at a lodge in neighbouring Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, police said on Thursday. The incident happened on September 21. The girls, all class ninth students, went “missing” on September 20 after they were “lured” by the men, who had befriended them online on the pretext of a trip. Harish Rao slams Congress over Singareni workers’ bonus
Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao Accuses Telangana Government of Cheating Singareni Coal Workers Over Dasara Bonus
Former minister T Harish Rao on Monday, September 22, lashed out at the Congress-led Telangana government, accusing it of cheating Singareni coal workers in the name of the Dasara bonus. In a statement, the senior BRS leader alleged that the government has pushed Singareni workers into disappointment by declaring a bonus based on reduced profits.
Government Reduced Distributable Share: Harish Rao
Harish Rao pointed out that instead of considering the total profit of Rs 6,394 crore, the government restricted the bonus calculation to Rs 2,360 crore, which he described as highly condemnable. “They reduced the distributable share, increased the percentages artificially, and deceived workers,” he said.
Recalling the tenure under BRS governance, Harish Rao emphasized that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) ensured workers received a fair share from the net profits. It was under KCR’s leadership that the workers’ share was enhanced from 16 percent to 32 percent.
He criticized the current Congress government for setting aside one-third of the profits and declaring the bonus only on a part of the remaining share, calling this move unjust.
Demand to Pay 34% of Net Profits as Bonus
Harish Rao demanded that the government pay 34 percent of net profits as a bonus to the Singareni workers. He also warned that if injustice continues to be meted out to the workers, he would stand by them and fight for their rights.

Tamil Nadu Cop Caught Driving Car With Youth Clinging To Bonnet In Tirunelveli – VIDEO
**Chennai:** In a shocking display of aggression, a Special Sub-Inspector of Police in Tirunelveli, south Tamil Nadu, was caught on video driving his car with a young man clinging to the bonnet for nearly 200 metres after a minor traffic accident spiraled out of control.
The incident took place on Wednesday night when Gandhirajan, a Special Sub-Inspector from Tirunelveli Town Police Station, was driving his car. A sudden stop by a bus ahead caused the biker in front of him to brake sharply. Unfortunately, the car then collided with the bike, throwing it to the roadside. The rider, a young man, sustained minor injuries.
When the man confronted Gandhirajan, the officer appeared agitated. In an alarming move, he accelerated his car in an attempt to intimidate the young man, who refused to move. The force of the car pushed the man onto the bonnet, where he held on desperately, screaming for help as the officer sped off.
For a horrifying distance of nearly 200 metres, the officer continued driving with the man clinging to the front of the vehicle. Onlookers recorded the shocking incident, which quickly went viral and sparked widespread outrage across social media.
In response to the incident, Gandhirajan has been transferred to the Armed Reserve Police Camp. Additionally, a departmental inquiry has been initiated to investigate the matter further.
