Fishermen in Marathwada Suffer Rs 22 Crore Losses Due to Floods, Says Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane

Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane on Friday stated that preliminary estimates indicate fishermen in the Marathwada region have incurred losses amounting to Rs 22 crore as a result of recent floods and heavy rainfall.

Rane visited Phulambri taluka in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of central Maharashtra to assess the damage faced by fishermen affected by the downpours and floods. The Marathwada region, which includes eight districts, has been severely impacted by the adverse weather conditions.

Following his visit, the minister presided over a meeting with officials in the city to discuss the situation in detail.

Addressing reporters, Rane said, “I came here to review the losses suffered by fishermen. Our officers have provided me with detailed information, and a comprehensive report on the damage is currently being prepared. At present, the losses have been estimated at Rs 22 crore, but this figure is expected to rise as some surveys are still underway.”

The minister also assured that the government would provide adequate assistance to the affected fishermen. “We will ensure that fishermen receive maximum aid, similar to the support extended to farmers,” he added.
