Burberry Group plc (BURBY) Q2 2026 Earnings Call Transcript

Joshua Schulman, CEO & Executive Director

Good morning. We actually have some seats here in the front row. This feels like the first day at school—no one wants to be at the front. It’s not like a fashion show, where everyone wants those coveted front-row seats. It really is all about where you sit.

In any case, good morning and welcome to our interim results and update on the Burberry Forward strategy. I’m Josh Schulman, CEO of Burberry, and with me is Kate Ferry, our Chief Financial Officer.

One year into Burberry Forward, my belief in this extraordinary British luxury house is stronger than ever. Since we met last November, we have moved from stabilizing the business to returning to growth.

I am encouraged by the positive signals I’m seeing across the business, which provide initial proof points that our Burberry Forward strategy is working. With our timeless British luxury brand expression and an improved product offering, our brand has become more desirable.

We’re attracting new customers while welcoming back existing ones, resulting in sequential improvement in customer growth. These customers are responding strongly to our autumn and winter collections, with a significant increase in sell-through rates compared to last year.

We’re accelerating momentum in our iconic categories—outerwear and scarves—and now this growth is extending into other areas as well.

Ethereum’s Investors Are Suddenly Bullish! What Does It Mean for ETH Price?

Bitcoin and altcoins experienced a challenging start to November. Bitcoin dipped below $100,000, while Ethereum (ETH) faced its largest single-day loss. Expectations were mounting that Ethereum’s price might fall below $3,000. However, a recent price recovery has shifted sentiment around ETH considerably.

According to analytics platform Santiment, Ethereum investors are displaying a notably optimistic attitude following this rebound. In just a few days, investor sentiment flipped sharply from extremely bearish to extremely bullish. Santiment noted that FOMO (fear of missing out) has returned to Ethereum, which could potentially hinder further acceleration of the price rise.

Santiment also highlighted that prices often move contrary to the crowd’s expectations. Despite the sudden bullishness among investors, this historical trend suggests that ETH’s downward trajectory may continue for some time.

“Ethereum investors quickly shifted from extreme pessimism to optimism. However, prices historically move in the opposite direction of popular expectations. This means market optimism could lead to a short-term correction in ETH,” Santiment explained.

The platform cautioned that this sudden change in sentiment should not be mistaken for a genuine bullish buying signal. According to Santiment, a true buying opportunity will emerge only when investors abandon their hopes for a rapid recovery and temper their expectations of ETH re-entering the $4,000 range.

“Follow the ETH chart and wait for investors to temper their expectations of a quick return to $4,000. Once the bullish sentiment calms down again, that will be a real buy signal,” the platform advised.

Truck driver shot by law enforcement after backing into Coast Guard base

Coast Guard security personnel “issued multiple verbal commands to stop the vehicle, [but] the driver failed to comply and proceeded to put the vehicle in reverse, suddenly accelerating backwards at a high rate of speed directly toward them,” according to a statement.

“When the vehicle’s actions posed a direct threat to the safety of Coast Guard and security personnel, law enforcement officers discharged several rounds of defensive live fire,” the statement continued.

“No Coast Guard personnel were injured during the incident. Two civilians were injured and are expected to survive. The truck driver was wounded in the stomach and is being held for mental health evaluation. A bystander was struck by a fragment, treated at a local hospital, and released,” the statement said.

The DHS X account attached a video of the incident, showing the vehicle backing up at high speed toward a line of officers who riddled it with fire, causing the driver to stop and speed off in the opposite direction.

The FBI is leading the investigation into the incident, sending evidence, crisis management, and bomb technician teams to the site of the crime.

“At this time, the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no known current threat to the public,” FBI spokesperson Cameron Polan in San Francisco said in a statement.

U-Haul spokesman Jeff Lockridge said the company cooperated with law enforcement in the investigation.

The incident occurred on Wednesday after an anonymous source with knowledge of the situation told the San Francisco Chronicle that 100 U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other agents would begin arriving at the Alameda Coast Guard base on Thursday. The Coast Guard confirmed this in a statement provided to the media.

The news immediately drew outrage from San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA). Protesters gathered earlier on Thursday to demonstrate outside the checkpoint guarding the island. The protests were largely peaceful, with the attempted truck ramming occurring hours after most of the protesters had dispersed.

In an unexpected move, President Donald Trump called off the deployment of the federal agents after a phone call with Mayor Lurie, who was supported by personal appeals from several mutual connections.

However, in a Friday press conference, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem suggested that Trump could change his mind following the attempted ramming.

“If leaders in San Francisco don’t figure out how to protect our law enforcement officers and protect our Coast Guard members, then we would be forced to come in and protect those individuals,” she said.
