**Kolkata:** Amid heavy rainfall in West Bengal, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) on Friday released additional water from its reservoirs due to rains in Jharkhand. This move has sparked strong criticism from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who accused the DVC of releasing water without obtaining permission from the state government.
Taking to social media platform X, Mamata Banerjee expressed her outrage, stating, “The latest update on the unilateral and wilful release of water by DVC is that they have by the evening today released more than 150,000 cusecs of water from Maithon and Panchet dams etc to flood our West Bengal during festival times. This is a deliberate ploy to unleash disaster on us in order to inflict pains on millions when they are still busy in the Pujas. Shameful, intolerable, unacceptable! We protest!!”
Earlier the same day, the Chief Minister had highlighted the issue on X, saying, “Bijoya Dashami marks the close of Durga Puja — a time for joy, cheer and renewed hope. Yet instead of allowing the people of West Bengal to conclude the festival in peace, the DVC released 65,000 cusecs of water without any prior notice to the State. This reckless act is nothing short of an attempt to inflict misery during our sacred festivities. Such unilateral action is shameful and absolutely unacceptable.”
She further added, “By releasing water without intimation, the DVC has placed millions of lives in Bengal in immediate peril. This is not a natural calamity, it is a disaster manufactured by the DVC. Let me be clear: I will not allow anyone to carry out a Bisarjan of Bengal. Every conspiracy against our people will be resisted with full force. Truth will prevail over deceit and good will triumph over evil. Joy Maa Durga!”
Notably, Mamata Banerjee has accused the DVC multiple times in the past of releasing water without prior permission. The DVC has usually responded to such allegations; however, until the time of reporting this incident, the corporation had not issued any statement regarding the recent water release.

“Every online transaction, social media activity, or acceptance of cookies carries the risk of data misuse, which can lead to extortion, cyberbullying, and fraud,” he warned.

Highlighting Maharashtra’s investment in world-class cyber labs and response centres, Fadnavis underlined the importance of swift complaint registration.
“Technology itself is a threat, but technology alone is also the solution. Every digital crime leaves behind a digital fingerprint,” he said.
He also raised concern about cyberspace being used to spread propaganda. “Cyberspace not only connects people; it can hack your mind. The new danger is planting anarchist ideas in a very personalised way,” he added, referring to the emerging threat of “urban Maoism.”

Fadnavis underlined the significant roles of parents, teachers, and communicators in educating youth about digital safety. He suggested including cyber security in school curriculums as a “revolutionary step” toward building a safer digital future.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar shared a personal incident involving his family. He revealed that his daughter once received inappropriate messages from a stranger while playing an online game.
“Thankfully, she reported it to her mother immediately. But such incidents don’t always get reported. Cyber security should be taught in schools just like history and mathematics,” he stated passionately.

**Tirupati on High Alert After Bomb Threats**

Tirupati city has been placed on high alert following bomb threats reportedly linked to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan and former Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) militants based in Tamil Nadu. According to News18, the warning suggested that RDX explosives could be detonated at four locations across the city.
**Threat Assessment and Investigation**
In response to the threat, Tirupati police have launched an investigation into two suspicious emails that contained the bomb warnings. Bomb disposal squads were immediately called in to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
The emails hinted at a potential conspiracy involving explosive devices targeted at key public and religious sites within Tirupati.
**Enhanced Security Measures at Religious Sites**
As a precaution, security has been significantly tightened at major temples, including the Tiruchanur Padmavati Ammavari Temple, Tirumala Temple, and Srikalahasti Temple.
In addition, thorough security checks are being conducted at crucial locations such as the RTC Bus Stand, Srinivasam, Vishnu Niwasam, and Kapilatheertham.
Bomb disposal teams and police patrols continue to monitor the city closely to mitigate any possible threats.

CNN Does Not Get the Joke: Trump White House Embraces the Sombrero Meme
The Trump White House continues to troll House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Democrats with the sombrero meme. In a move that many find hilarious, Mariachi music has even been piped into the White House press briefing room to accompany the meme. However, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins doesn’t seem to share the humor.
What we’re actually witnessing here is frustration. Collins and other CNN journalists appear upset that former President Trump doesn’t care about their opinions — not one bit. This sentiment was clearly visible on Collins’ face during a recent segment.
The Daily Wire reported that CNN anchors John Berman and Kaitlan Collins struggled to grasp the Trump administration’s willingness to defend and even embrace what they described as a “racist” meme, without any apparent concern for the fallout.
During a conversation on Wednesday, Berman brought up the topic, referencing an AI-doctored video showing Minority Leader Jeffries (D-NY) with a fake mustache and sombrero, which had been prominently displayed in the White House briefing room.
“We played sound from Vice President Vance not just defending that AI racist video of Minority Leader Jeffries wearing a sombrero, but also, like, celebrating that video. It was playing on a loop in the briefing room today,” Berman explained, turning to Collins and asking, “What are you hearing from the inside about that?”
Collins responded by highlighting a key moment: despite heavy criticism from Democrats about these posts by President Trump, the administration is not backing down or apologizing. Instead, they are leaning into the controversy, playing the Mariachi music on loudspeakers repeatedly inside the briefing room, signaling that they simply don’t care about the criticism.
The sombrero meme is being embraced by many, including Trump-impersonating comedian Shawn Farash, who joked that “everyone is getting the sombrero treatment.”
It’s notable that Democrats have called Trump “Hitler” for years, yet now they are acting offended over what many view as a harmless sombrero joke. The meme and the music continue to be a source of amusement for Trump supporters and a point of frustration for his critics.
