CBI Brings Back Fugitive Parminder Singh From UAE Via INTERPOL Channels

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully coordinated the return of wanted fugitive Parminder Singh, also known as Nirmal Singh or Pindi, from the UAE through INTERPOL channels.

Parminder Singh was wanted by the Punjab Police in connection with multiple serious offences, including extortion, violations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for raising funds for terrorist activities, attempt to murder, and criminal intimidation. He had fled India and was absconding until his recent capture.

The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Abu Dhabi, and Punjab Police, coordinated efforts to bring Parminder Singh back to India on 26 September 2025. Upon his return, he was escorted by a team from Punjab Police.

Earlier, on 13 June 2025, the CBI facilitated the publication of a Red Notice against Parminder Singh through INTERPOL, acting on a request from the Punjab Police. Following his arrest by UAE authorities, a decision was made to extradite him to India.

Red Notices issued by INTERPOL are circulated globally among law enforcement agencies to aid in the tracking and apprehension of wanted criminals. As India’s National Central Bureau for INTERPOL, the CBI coordinates closely with law enforcement agencies across the country through BHARATPOL, ensuring effective assistance via INTERPOL channels.

In recent years, more than 130 wanted criminals have been repatriated to India through successful coordination using these international cooperation mechanisms.

PM Modi : AK-203 rifles production starts soon in UP, strengthens Make In India

“Our armed forces aspire to achieve self-reliance and minimise dependence on external sources. To this end, we are dedicated to developing a robust defence infrastructure within India, with a strong emphasis on ensuring that every component is proudly ‘Made in India’,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He added that to support this vision, a thriving ecosystem is being fostered, with Uttar Pradesh playing a pivotal role in this initiative. In line with these efforts, the production of AK-203 rifles will soon commence in a factory established with assistance from Russia.

A Defence Corridor is also being developed in Uttar Pradesh, where manufacturing of BrahMos missiles and other weapon systems has already begun, the Prime Minister noted.

The trade show, held under the theme “Ultimate Sourcing Begins Here,” is scheduled from September 25 to 29. It has three core objectives: innovation, integration, and internationalisation. A three-pronged buyer strategy is targeting international buyers, domestic Business-to-Business (B2B) buyers, and domestic Business-to-Consumer (B2C) buyers, providing opportunities for exporters, small businesses, and consumers alike.

UPITS-2025 highlights the state’s diverse craft traditions, modern industries, robust MSMEs, and emerging entrepreneurs, all showcased on a single platform.

PM Modi also highlighted the benefits of the GST reforms, stating that ordinary families will see significant monthly savings. He criticised Congress over its criticism of the GST reform campaign, saying, “To hide their pre-2014 failures, Congress and its allies are lying to the people. We have increased the income and savings of the people of India. We are not going to stop here. As we continue to strengthen our economy, we will continue to reduce taxes. The process of GST reforms will go on continuously.”

In response, Congress pointed out that Narendra Modi had opposed the GST taxation model when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh remarked, “From 2006-2014, for eight years, only one CM opposed the GST, and that CM became the Prime Minister in 2014 and took a U-turn and emerged as a messiah of GST in 2017.”

The BJP responded by saying that the Congress-led government’s rule was marked by “only talks and no work,” accusing the party of resorting to “lies.”

India test-fires Agni Prime missile from rail-based mobile platform

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), successfully conducted the launch of the intermediate-range Agni-Prime missile under a full operational scenario on Wednesday, the defence ministry announced. The location of the test-firing has not been disclosed.

This “first-of-its-kind” launch was carried out from a specially designed rail-based mobile launcher that can move on a rail network without any pre-conditions. This system provides cross-country mobility and enables launch within a short reaction time, explained Rajnath Singh.

“With this successful flight test, India joins a select group of nations that have developed a canisterised launch system capable of firing from a moving rail network,” Singh stated on X.

According to the ministry, the missile is equipped with independent launch capability, including state-of-the-art communication systems and protection mechanisms. The missile’s trajectory was tracked by multiple ground stations and the launch proceeded flawlessly, meeting all mission objectives.

“This achievement will pave the way for the future induction of rail-based missile systems into our services,” the ministry added.

The launch was witnessed by senior DRDO scientists and officers from the Strategic Forces Command. It is important to note that the “road mobile” variant of Agni-Prime has already been inducted into service following a series of successful flight trials.

This test-firing occurred just over four and a half months after the recent four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan.

Separately, on Tuesday, Rajnath Singh emphasized India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, highlighting that it is not just about manufacturing for domestic needs but about developing capabilities to become a credible source of advanced technology and high-quality products globally.

During the same day, Singh and his Moroccan counterpart Abdelatif Loudyi jointly inaugurated Tata Advanced Systems Limited’s (TASL) state-of-the-art defence manufacturing facility in Berrechid, Morocco. Singh described this event as a historic milestone in the evolving strategic partnership between India and Morocco.

Indian Diaspora Must Speak On Trump’s Policy Changes, Visiting US Congressmen Tell Parliament Panel

A Visiting US Democratic Delegation Voices Concerns Over President Trump’s Policies During Meeting with Indian MPs

A delegation of five US Democratic lawmakers recently engaged with Indian Members of Parliament (MPs) from across party lines in the Standing Committee on External Affairs, chaired by Dr. Shashi Tharoor. The meeting provided an opportunity for frank discussions on several pressing issues pertaining to US-India relations.

During the interaction, the Democratic delegation expressed strong concerns regarding policy changes implemented by US President Donald Trump. Sources reveal that questions were raised by Indian MPs about key issues such as modifications to the H-1B visa program, the 50% tariff imposed on Indian goods, and the persistent involvement of President Trump in matters affecting bilateral ties.

In response, the visiting Democrats urged Indian MPs to motivate the Indian diaspora in the United States to speak out against these policy shifts. They emphasized the importance of advocacy within the Indian-American community to influence US policy decisions favorably.

Following the meeting, committee chairman Dr. Shashi Tharoor addressed the media, stating, “I do want to stress that one of the points we raised is why the Indian-American diaspora has been so silent about all this. One of the Congressmen said not one phone call has come to her office from any Indian-American voter asking her to support a change of policy. This is something that is surprising.”

He further added, “We all need to reach out to the Indian-American population, saying if you care about your relationship with the motherland, then you also have to fight for it and speak for it, and make more of an effort to press your political representative to stand up for India.”

Dr. Tharoor underscored that the visiting US lawmakers are well-disposed towards India and are friends of the country, making their concerns and suggestions particularly noteworthy.

Besides visa and tariff-related issues, the committee also discussed the US sanctions waiver for Iran’s Chabahar Port—an important development project led by India.

The H-1B visa concerns were especially highlighted by opposition leaders from the Samajwadi Party, including Ballia MP Sanatan Pandey and Firozabad MP Akshay Yadav, both of whom noted how these policies affect numerous Indians.

Sanatan Pandey shared, “Sanatan Pandey and I met with the visiting delegation led by Amerish Bera. We told them that we are the third-largest party in India and our leader, along with Akshay Yadav from the Samajwadi Party, raised this matter.”

The delegation also included BJP MPs such as Sudhanshu Trivedi, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Aparajita Sarangi, and Bansuri Swaraj, among others.

The first half of the meeting featured a detailed briefing on India-Sri Lanka relations, with India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri providing insights to the committee members.

This interactive session marks an important step in fostering dialogue and cooperation between US lawmakers and Indian parliamentarians concerning bilateral matters, diaspora engagement, and regional strategic interests.

Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP on Yasin Malik`s claims

After Mehbooba Mufti urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to look into Yasin Malik’s case through a humanitarian lens, the former Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid on Friday criticised JKLF chief Yasin Malik’s claims.

The former JK DGP revealed that Yasin Malik had briefed then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after meeting Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed, calling it a “matter of shame” for the government at that time. Yasin Malik has been convicted in terror-related cases and is currently serving a life sentence in a 2017 terror-funding case.

Malik claimed in a sworn affidavit that he travelled to Pakistan, met Hafiz Saeed, and subsequently briefed Manmohan Singh, according to a report by ANI.

Speaking to the media on Friday, former JK DGP SP Vaid expressed shock that someone involved in killings could have been used for “diplomatic purposes.” He asserted, “What could be more shameful than this?”

According to ANI, Vaid said, “Yasin Malik’s affidavit states that he travelled to Pakistan, met with Hafiz Saeed, and subsequently briefed then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh upon his return. This means you are using a murderer like Yasin Malik, who killed five of your air force men and was responsible for the deaths of many Kashmiri Hindu pandits.”

He further added, “A murderer is being used as a diplomat to approach Hafiz Saeed, who is an India-hater and heads Lashkar-e-Taiba, responsible for killing thousands of Indians. I leave it to the people of this country to decide what kind of government they want. It is such a disgrace to have such diplomacy and government.”

A day earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik claimed before the Delhi High Court that, far from being a terrorist, he was repeatedly engaged by six successive Indian governments—from VP Singh to Manmohan Singh—to participate in peace initiatives concerning Kashmir.

Malik further alleged that the meetings facilitated by the Indian establishment were later “twisted” to portray him as a conspirator, ANI reported.

Currently serving a life sentence in a 2017 terror-funding case, Malik made these assertions in detailed written submissions filed in response to the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) appeal seeking the death penalty against him.

According to Malik, his engagement began in the early 2000s when then Intelligence Bureau (IB) Special Director Ajit Doval visited him in jail to convey the Vajpayee government’s interest in a peace process.

Malik further asserted that following his meeting with Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor set up a meeting with IB Director Shyamal Dutta and NSA Brajesh Mishra, who asked for his support for the Ramzan ceasefire.
