Warriors coach Steve Kerr has a complicated history with Kuminga over the past few seasons. Many question their relationship not being strong as a reason why Kuminga will not have a long-term future in Golden State. The head coach was asked about Kuminga’s timetable to return to the court and provided an honest answer that gives little short-term hope to Warriors fans. “Honestly, I just talked to the training staff. They tell me it’s day to day,” Kerr explained to the media. “So, talking to JK, and he said he’s not moving that well, so I can’t tell you what the outlook is. JK can tell you that better than I could, so he needs to feel better and be able to move better before we can put him out there. Maybe we’ll get imaging done on the knee, but yeah, we got to figure it out.” Kerr: Kuminga Is Day To Day The most surprising thing about Kerr’s news is that he remains hopeful enough to list Kuminga as day to day on the injury report. More often than not, a coach saying someone is not moving well and has an uncertain return timetable will have them ruled out for at least another week or two. However, the team staff still felt Kuminga is day to day, which implies he can return any game coming up sooner than later. Golden State has missed Kuminga for five straight games and it hurts the team’s overall depth. The hot start for Kuminga saw him averaging 17. 4 points and 7. 1 rebounds in 31. 0 minutes over his first seven games. Confidence started to grow that Kuminga could be the third scoring option behind superstars Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. Unfortunately, things slowed down after the first seven games. Kuminga averaged just 9. 5 points in 24. 0 minutes per game over his next six games before the injury ruled him out. Does Kerr Still Believe In Kuminga? Conflict between Kerr and Kuminga in past seasons fractured their relationship to never grow in the same way it did with the coach for Curry, Klay Thompson and other stars. Kuminga and his agent have made some critical comments in the past over how Kerr and the Warriors use the young player. However, this season proved that Kerr is willing to trust Kuminga if he feels the 23-year-old is contributing to the lineup and doing what is asked of him. Kerr ultimately benched Kuminga this season before the injury became a factor to show he had quickly lost confidence. Golden State only has Kuminga locked into a two-year contract, and his name is often floated around on the trade market. Kuminga getting healthy and playing consistently could see him either becoming a big factor to the Warriors’ success or the perfect young trade piece to improve their starting lineup.

Lakers Monitoring Ex-Warriors Champion as Potential Trade Target

The Los Angeles Lakers have proven to be one of the stronger squads in the Western Conference this season, despite missing LeBron James throughout the opening stretch. With James back in the mix, the Lakers anticipate a boost, but that hasn’t stopped them from staying on the hunt for a notable acquisition through the trade market. According to NBA Insider Jake Fischer, the Lakers are still eyeing the former Golden State Warriors champion, Andrew Wiggins. When discussing the Lakers’ desired type of players ahead of the 2026 trade deadline through a live stream on Bleacher Report, Fischer mentioned that the Lakers would like to add a “lob-threat big man” and a “two-way wing.” Wiggins certainly fits the latter description. Wiggins has spent his career with three different teams. He entered the NBA as the top pick in the 2014 draft out of Kansas. Although he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, the LeBron-led squad shipped him off to the Minnesota Timberwolves. As a young wing making his way through the league, Wiggins thrived as a featured piece in Minnesota. The trade to the Warriors ended up being a major change of scenery for him, though, despite the fact he took a backseat to multiple players, including Steph Curry. During the 2021-2022 NBA season, Wiggins appeared in 73 games for the Warriors. He made 46 percent of his shots from the field, and drilled 39 percent of his threes. The young veteran averaged 17. 2 points per game, 4. 5 rebounds per game, and 2. 2 assists per game. That year, Wiggins was voted as an All-Star and helped contribute to the Warriors’ title run. He would spend three more seasons with the Warriors. Last year, Golden State wrapped up the Wiggins era by trading him to the Miami Heat in a major blockbuster centered around Jimmy Butler. After arriving in Miami, Wiggins averaged 19. 0 points, 4. 2 rebounds, and 3. 3 assists, while shooting 45 percent from the field. The Lakers-Wiggins rumors started over the offseason. It wasn’t clear if the Lakers were aggressively pursuing the 30-year-old wing, but he’s been labeled as an LA target for several months at this point. With the NBA season well underway, it seems the Lakers still have Wiggins on their radar, as long as the Heat are willing to make a deal. So far, Wiggins has appeared in 15 games for the Heat. Seeing the court for 33 minutes per game, he has posted averages of 16. 7 points, 4. 9 rebounds, and 2. 8 assists. Defensively, he is averaging nearly one block and over one steal per game. With the Miami Heat holding a winning record through the first month of action, there doesn’t seem to be a need to cut ties with the 30-year-old veteran just yet. In only three plays, the Cowboys covered the 54 yards to the end zone. Dak Prescott completed a 43-yard pass to George Pickens and Javonte Williams ran for 3 yards to set up Prescott’s 8-yard touchdown run. The Cowboys have come all the way back from down 21-0 to tie the game at 21-21. Prescott is 19-of-27 for 297 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The Vikings’ offensive performance on Sunday in Green Bay was the kind you’d see from a 3-12 team playing out the string in a pointless Week 17 tilt long after being eliminated from playoff contention. Of a team that was on its backup quarterback and had its fanbase saying, “We have to get a better No. 2 next offseason so we don’t have to go through THIS again.” Of a team that did not have any interest in opening up its playbook, and when it was finally forced to, you understood why. Minnesota managed 4 total yards of offense in the second half of a 23-6 loss to Green Bay on Sunday. That number dips below zero if you include a 5-yard loss on a false start infraction. The second half drive chart: 3 and out 3 and out 3 and out interception interception The offensive highlights of the final 30 minutes were sacks of J. J. McCarthy, where the quarterback was ruled down at his own 1-yard line rather than them being ruled safeties. The game was over the moment Minnesota went down multiple scores after a blunder by Myles Price on a punt return. The Vikings couldn’t block Packers star edge rusher Micah Parsons, or anyone else on Green Bay’s defensive front. McCarthy isn’t nearly good enough at this juncture to operate the offense under the most optimal conditions, as proven last week in a 19-17 loss to Chicago wherein Minnesota played 58 minutes of putrid offense . at home . against one of the worst defenses in football. When facing a good defense in a bad script? Forget it, it’s over. It’s non-competitive. Minnesota’s offense is an eyesore. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell admitted postgame to reporters that his team’s margin for error is “razor thin” at the moment. The narrow path to victory he described sounded like a team hoping to milk the clock to shorten the game and win 13-10. Never would you have thought this was possible in the O’Connell era. In the coach’s previous three seasons guiding the Vikings’ offense, Minnesota has ranked sixth, fifth and sixth in the NFL in passing yards. That includes a season in which Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall took turns filling in after Kirk Cousins went down with a season-ending injury. Minnesota is averaging 138 yards through the air in McCarthy’s six starts. On a day when they lost by three scores, the Vikings attempted only 19 passes, and even that somehow felt like too many. There was never a guarantee Minnesota would always be good, but with O’Connell, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, the assumption was the Vikings would always be fun. Yet this neutered offense is currently one of the toughest watches in football. It can be enjoyable to watch a youthful signal caller learn, develop and blossom, even amid growing pains. But this experiment is getting worse every week. O’Connell and McCarthy keep referring to mechanical changes the 22-year-old is attempting to master and implement on the fly. That process, frankly, feels impossible to complete midseason. It’s currently going about as poorly as you’d expect. As a result, fans likely feel worse and worse about this team with each passing performance. And with playoff odds now sitting south of 5% after this latest loss, what’s the point of tuning in? It’s certainly not for entertainment; there was none of that to be found on Sunday.

New DNA test could predict dangerous heart rhythms before they start

A new study from Northwestern Medicine has brought exciting progress in predicting heart rhythm problems before they even happen. These problems, called arrhythmias, occur when the heart beats too fast, too slow, or irregularly. Some types, like atrial fibrillation (AFib), can increase the risk of stroke, while others can lead to sudden death. Now, researchers have developed a new genetic risk score that makes it easier to identify who might be at higher risk. Published in the journal Cell Reports Medicine, the study involved over 1, 100 people. The team wanted to see if combining different kinds of genetic data could give doctors a more accurate picture of a person’s risk. Traditionally, genetic testing has been done in three separate ways. One looks for rare changes in a single gene (like a typo in a word). Another looks at many small changes across different genes (like analyzing the tone of a whole chapter). And the third approach reads the person’s entire genetic code (like reading an entire book). But in this study, researchers combined all three methods to create a more complete picture. They used this combined genetic score to study people with arrhythmias and compare them to healthy people. The result was a much better understanding of who is most at risk and why. They believe this approach can help doctors identify patients in danger long before symptoms start. The study was led by Dr. Elizabeth McNally, a genetic testing expert at Northwestern University. She explained that this method is not just helpful for heart problems, but may also be used for other conditions like cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and autism. By building a “genetic roadmap,” researchers hope to guide future treatment and testing for many different diseases. The study included 523 people with arrhythmias, and many of them also had heart failure. The researchers looked at each patient’s medical history in detail, including data from heart-monitoring devices. Then, they sequenced the patients’ genomes and used both rare and common genetic changes to calculate risk scores. These were compared to 596 healthy people from a biobank who had no known heart disease. The results were impressive. McNally said that in her own practice, she uses genetic tests to help decide which patients might need extra care, like an implanted defibrillator. But there’s still a problem: not enough people get genetic testing. Even though the benefits are clear, only about 1-5% of people who should get tested actually do. Even in cancer care, where genetics are well known to play a role, only 10-20% of eligible patients get tested. McNally says the biggest reason is that many doctors aren’t trained in how to use genetic results. She hopes that as tests like polygenic risk scores become more common, more patients will benefit. Overall, this study shows how powerful it can be to look at the full picture of a person’s genes. By combining different types of genetic data, researchers can now better predict who might develop dangerous heart rhythms. Cumberland County man killed in overnight motorcycle crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N. C. (WTVD) — A man died in a motorcycle crash overnight, Fayetteville Police said Sunday. Officers responded to a crash just after 3 a. m. at Person Street and Old Wilmington Road. Investigators said a motorcycle was going east on Person Street when it hit the traffic circle at Old Wilmington Road. The motorcycle operator, Jackson Corum, 21, of Spring Lake, was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center but died from his injuries. A 20-year-old female passenger on Corum’s 2011 Honda escaped with minor injuries, police said. The crash remains under active investigation.

Sometimes it pays to remind what Marco Rubio said back in February, “Ukraine is a proxy war between the U. S. and Russia.” From that context the remarks from SSCI Vice-Chair, Senator Mark Warner, make sense. Warner appears Senator Warner makes it clear he will not accept the end to conflict in Ukraine. Video and Transcript Below: [TRANSCRIPT] Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chair Mark Warner joins me now. Good to see you this morning, Senator. SEN. MARK WARNER (D-VA), INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE VICE CHAIR: Good morning, Martha. RADDATZ: What is your reaction to this peace proposal that is on the table? WARNER: My reaction is it’s awful. It would make Neville Chamberlain’s giving in to Hitler outside of World War II looks strong in comparison. The fact that this was almost a series of Russian talking points, would require Ukraine to give the totality of the Donbas, parts they still control, cut back their military forces going forward, never be able to join NATO. This would be a complete capitulation. And it’s why I think you’re hearing from Congress, both sides, people pushing back. And, obviously, the Europeans feel like they’ve been totally left high and dry. MARTHA RADDATZ, ABC “THIS WEEK” CO-ANCHOR: You’ve heard the deadline from President Trump, but then him saying that’s not there’s room for negotiation here, it seems like. So, what do you think happens after today (ph)? WARNER: I think what happens it feels like this was a plan that they took almost entirely from the Russians, did no consultation with Congress, no consultation with the Europeans, obviously didn’t read in Zelenskyy and the Ukrainians, and now they’re getting ferocious pushback. So, one more time, Trump is changing his deadline. Of course, how he picked Thanksgiving to start with, I have no idea. But now it even with this some of this back and forth that it’s not really an American plan, or isn’t an American plan, this is the kind of chaos that, unfortunately, represents so much of the Trump foreign policy. RADDATZ: So, what do you think President Zelenskyy should do? He’s been through this before. It’s kind of back and forth with this White House. They support you. They pull it back. Do you think all of this, this proposal, which seems to heavily favor Russia, is that just a starting point again? WARNER: Well, I would hope I would hope so. Again, the Ukrainians have performed magnificently in the field. And they are reinventing the nature of warfare in terms of use use of drones. To have this proposal forced upon them, I think as Zelenskyy said, Ukrainian dignity versus giving up a partner, I would hope the president would not be so weak as to try to force this plan on the Ukrainian and our other allies. It would, I think, send not only a horrible signal for Europe, but the person who’s watching this probably the most closely is President Xi in China. And if the Americans are willing to throw in their towel so much like this on Ukraine, you can bet that Xi is thinking, this gives him a clearer path in terms of taking Taiwan. RADDATZ: But what does Zelenskyy do here? If on Thursday the president says, I’m telling you right now, take what we’ve got on the table and and there will probably be some changes, or we’re done. What what does Zelenskyy do, just hope that Europe rises and helps him out? WARNER: Well, let’s let’s, again, you have overwhelming support still for Ukraine. The last Ukraine aid package had 80 percent of the Congress. I think the president is seeing this one-sided plan kind of blow up in his face with pushback from the Ukrainians, from the Europeans, from members of Congress of his own party. And my hope is, he’ll come back and be a bit more reasonable. RADDATZ: I want to turn to Venezuela. We’re all watching that this week. What can you tell us about what you think happens now. We’ve got this massive buildup. We’ve got this massive show of force. We have airline who aren’t that aren’t flying there because of all the activity and the military activity right now. Do you expect something more to happen? WARNER: Well, historically, the United States’ intervention in Central America or South America has not always rolled out the way we’d hope. Maduro was a bad guy, frankly, under Biden. When the Venezuelan people voted in overwhelming numbers, Biden should have put more pressure on getting Maduro out then. It was a mistake. But now, to have this much armed forces, we have not been briefed on any military action that would have been authorized. He keeps putting the word out that maybe he has authorized, maybe he’s not. We are trying to get the answer on that. But there is a real question. You know, to take this big a fleet, bring our largest aircraft carrier, put them there to further blow up boats that they claim have drugs on them, frankly they could have interdicted some of those boats and shown the world that there were drugs. In terms of Venezuela, the legal opinion about the drug run drug running doesn’t touch Venezuela at all. So, the president would have to come back and brief us. RADDATZ: Trump says he’ll be speaking with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Do you think that is a good idea? And what can you say to him? WARNER: Because I think the notion that Trump says he’ll talk to anyone, I think that is I’m not going to critique him on that, if there’s a way to push Maduro out. Remember, our government and fifty other governments, almost all of Western Europe, don’t recognize the Maduro government as legitimate. But it does not feel like there is an organized plan. And coming down again, America only, without any of our other allies in South America or Central America again seems not the right approach to me. RADDATZ: What could happen short of a show of force? When you have that massive a show of force, it’s almost like, you’re in a position where you have to do something or you might look weak. Short of Maduro saying, OK, I’ll leave, then what does he do? WARNER: Well, again, that’s the million-dollar question. And as you know, when you’ve got this many forces down there, and you can’t keep the carrier positioned there forever, you also have the chance of an accident happening or a conflict between the Venezuelan air force or some of our planes that might RADDATZ: Do you think he wants to go to war with Venezuela? Do you think he wants (INAUDIBLE) WARNER: I don’t know. I don’t know. I think he is trying to put outside pressure on Maduro. But by doing it in this kind of America only approach, again without giving any sign to, I think, even his the Republicans on The Hill what his plans are, I’m not sure is the right way to do foreign policy. You couple this Venezuela misadventure with this desertion of Ukraine and this is not making America safer, and it’s sure not putting America first. RADDATZ: Thanks very much for joining us, Senator.
