Bombay HC blocks Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s international travel amid Rs 60 crores fraud case

**Bombay High Court Blocks Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s International Travel Amid Rs 60 Crores Fraud Case**

In a significant development in the ongoing Rs 60 crores fraud case involving Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, the Bombay High Court has raised serious questions about their request to travel abroad.

The couple had approached the court seeking permission to travel to Colombo and other destinations for a business trip. However, the court, led by Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad, expressed scepticism over the nature of the trip.

Their counsel, Niranjan Mundargi, was directed to submit an affidavit detailing the purpose of the trip. This affidavit must include formal communications and evidence supporting the claim that the travel was indeed for business purposes. The court granted them time until October 14 for the submission of these details.

During the proceedings, when Mundargi reiterated that the trip was for business, Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar remarked with a smile, “You can first deposit Rs 60 crores if you wish to travel abroad.” This comment underscores the court’s serious approach to the case and reflects its scrutiny of the couple’s actions.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police is investigating allegations that Shetty and Kundra diverted investment funds for personal use. In light of the ongoing investigation, the court has not issued any immediate orders regarding the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on October 14.

This development adds to the mounting legal challenges faced by the couple, who remain under intense scrutiny over their financial dealings. As the investigation progresses, the court’s forthcoming decisions will be crucial in determining the future course of action.

### Background on the Fraud Allegations

In a related matter, the EOW of the Mumbai Police is investigating a case involving businessman Deepak Kothari. Kothari has accused Shetty and Kundra of diverting Rs 60 crores of his investment for personal use.

The EOW’s findings indicate that Kothari’s funds were misused, leading to the filing of a case against Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, and an unidentified associate. They have been charged under sections 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Virar Tragedy: Love Affair Behind Teen’s Suicide, Friend’s Death Still A Mystery

**Virar Double Suicide Case: New Insights into Tragic Deaths of Two College Friends**

The Virar double suicide case involving two college friends has taken a new turn after the police confirmed that one of them, Aditya Singh (21), died by suicide following a failed love affair. However, the reason behind his friend Shyam Ghorai’s (20) death remains unclear.

The incident occurred on Monday night when both youths jumped from the 16th floor of an under-construction building in Bolinj, Virar. The duo, close friends from Achole, Nalasopara, were students at Rahul International College.

### Initial Allegations and Investigation

Initially, their parents alleged murder, claiming that the two were pushed off the building. However, police investigations have since provided more clarity on the case.

### Aditya’s Suicide Note Recovered

Police later recovered a suicide note written by Aditya, found in a book at his residence. In the note, he confessed to being heartbroken after a failed relationship, explaining that the girl he loved was involved with someone else. This emotional turmoil pushed him into depression and ultimately led him to take his own life.

### Unclear Circumstances Surrounding Shyam’s Death

While Aditya’s motive is now clear, investigators remain uncertain about Shyam’s actions. According to DCP Suhas Bawche, there are two possible explanations: either Shyam took his life in solidarity with his friend, or he accidentally fell while trying to stop Aditya.

Police have ruled out any foul play, confirming that no third-party involvement was found during the investigation.

The community continues to mourn the loss of the two young lives, hoping for further clarity as the investigation progresses.

Rush announces first tour in 11 years, coming to Chicago

**Rush Announces First Tour Since Neil Peart’s Passing, Coming to Chicago**

CHICAGO — Iconic progressive rock band Rush has announced their first tour since the death of legendary drummer Neil Peart. The band, which announced their retirement in 2018 after 41 years together, will be returning to the road, including shows in Chicago.

Neil Peart, the band’s drummer and lyricist, sadly passed away at age 67 in early 2020 after a battle with brain cancer. In a heartfelt move, Rush has welcomed German drummer Anika Nilles to join them for this tour. Nilles launched her career through YouTube in the early 2010s and has toured with renowned guitarist Jeff Beck.

Rush is scheduled to play at the United Center in Chicago on Thursday, July 16, and Saturday, July 18.

Bassist Geddy Lee shared a statement reflecting on the tour and Peart’s legacy:

> “It’s been over 10 years since Alex and I have performed the music of RUSH alongside our fallen bandmate and friend Neil. A lifetime’s worth of songs that we had put our cumulative hearts and souls into writing, recording and playing together onstage.
>
> And so, after all that has gone down since that last show, Alex and I have done some serious soul searching and come to the decision that we fucking miss it, and that it’s time for a celebration of 50-something years of RUSH music.
>
> So in 2026, my BFF Lerxst (aka Alex Lifeson) and I are going to hit the road once again to pay tribute to our past and to Neil by performing a vast selection of RUSH songs in a handful of cities.
>
> No small task, because as we all know Neil was irreplaceable. Yet life is full of surprises, and we have been introduced to another remarkable person; an incredible drummer and musician who is adding another chapter to our story while continuing her own fascinating musical journey. Her name is Anika Nilles, and we could not be more excited to introduce her to our loyal and dedicated RUSH fanbase, whom, we know, will give her every chance to live up to that near impossible role.
>
> Before we hit the stage, we also hope to add another musician or two to expand our sound a wee bit and free up Alex and I, in order to show off some of our new fancy dance steps.
>
> Lerxst, Anika and myself, along with many of our longstanding crew members have been hard at work rehearsing and designing the kind of RUSH show you’ve grown accustomed to expect from us.
>
> We dearly hope you will come along and help us celebrate our history together.”

### Tour Dates

– June 7 & 9 — Los Angeles
– June 18 — Mexico City

Daren Sammy highlights decline of West Indies’ Test side

**By Parth Dhall | Oct 08, 2025 | 05:05 PM**

### The Story: Daren Sammy Compares West Indies Cricket Decline to “Cancer”

Former West Indies captain Daren Sammy has drawn a stark and powerful comparison between the decline of his Test side and a “cancer” that has been developing over a long period.

Speaking ahead of the second Test match against India in Delhi, Sammy acknowledged that role models in the shortest formats of the game are readily available for younger players. However, he also emphasized that these players can only work with the resources currently at their disposal.

### Candid Remarks on Deep-Rooted Issues

West Indies suffered a heavy defeat in the first Test of the two-match series against India, losing by an innings and 140 runs. Ahead of the second Test, Sammy did not shy away from addressing the struggles faced by West Indies cricket — particularly in the Test format.

“I know now I’m under the microscope. I’m in the middle, and we’re open to criticism,” Sammy said. But he was quick to point out that the problems the team faces didn’t begin just two years ago; rather, they are deeply rooted in the system.

### The Cancer Analogy: A Metaphor for West Indies Cricket Struggles

Sammy used a powerful metaphor to describe the ongoing challenges: he likened the issues plaguing West Indies cricket to “cancer that’s already in the system.”

He explained, “If you don’t get cancer, you know what happens. Our problems don’t lie on the surface. It’s rooted deep into our system.”

He also highlighted the financial difficulties that have plagued the West Indies cricket board for years. “The difference between the top 3-4 teams in the world versus the bottom four is huge. We’ve been struggling with finances for a long time,” Sammy added.

### Missed Commercial Opportunities and Financial Struggles

Sammy expressed regret over missed commercial opportunities during the era when West Indies cricket was at its peak.

“We’re playing five Test matches, four months in one place, entertaining the world,” he said, reflecting on cricket’s global appeal. Yet, he pointed out that due to mismanagement and other setbacks over the years, the West Indies are now in dire need of financial resources to enable growth and development.

### Woeful Numbers Reflect Current Struggles

Statistics highlight the Windies’ ongoing challenges in the longest format. According to ESPNcricinfo, West Indies have recorded 13 sub-200 totals in their last 15 Test innings. Moreover, in those 15 innings, the team has failed to bat out 90 overs or even a full day.

Notably, since the start of this century, the Windies have won only two Tests against India — with their last victory dating back to 2002. They have lost six of their last seven Tests overall, underscoring the difficult times faced by Caribbean cricket.

Daren Sammy’s candid remarks serve as a grim reminder of the deep-seated issues that require urgent attention if West Indies cricket is to regain its former stature.

Bhopal News: No Prescription, No Problem; City Chemists Selling Almost All Medicines Over The Counter

**Medicines Readily Available Without Prescription in Bhopal Pharmacies, But Rules Remain**

*Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):*

In many medical stores across Bhopal, almost all medicines are available for purchase without a doctor’s prescription. Except for some psychiatric medicines and high-end antibiotics classified as Schedule H1 drugs, pharmacies are reportedly selling other medicines without insisting on prescriptions from Registered Medical Practitioners.

Chemists, however, maintain that they strictly adhere to regulations and do not sell prescription-only drugs without a doctor’s authorization. Pharmacies are permitted to sell certain products Over the Counter (OTC), which include Ayurvedic and herbal preparations, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.

According to the rules, the owner of a medicine shop should be a pharmacy graduate, and at least one qualified pharmacist must be present in the shop at all times. However, not all employees working at the pharmacy need to be pharmacists.

Ansh Chawla, owner of Moolchand Pharmacy, explained, “I don’t require a prescription to sell electoral powder, Borolin, Strepsils, or multivitamins.” He added that entire product ranges from brands like Himalaya, Baidyanath, and Dabur fall under the OTC category.

Chawla emphasized that drugs listed under Schedules H1 and H of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 cannot be sold OTC, whether generic or branded. “They can be sold only when prescribed by a qualified and registered doctor,” he said. He further detailed the procedure followed if a prescribed medicine is not available: “We call the doctor to ask whether we can substitute it with another drug. If the doctor consents, we write the name of the substitute and then provide the medicine to the buyer.”

Ashish Yadav from Yadav Medicos shared that about 90% of their sales are based on prescriptions. Items such as Vicks, Bournvita, and Jhandu Balm are sold without prescriptions, he said, adding that they do not sell pediatric medicines without a valid prescription.

However, contrary to the claims made by chemists, a recent check by a reporter found that a strip of Meftal tablets and cough syrup were easily purchased from two different medical stores without a prescription.

Dr. Meet Dwivedi commented, “Chemists can sell nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and products like Dettol over the counter. However, medicinal drugs require a doctor’s prescription. Cough syrups are not OTC products. They can cause nausea and lethargy and should not be sold or consumed without a doctor’s advice.”

Jitendra Dhakad, President of the Chemists Association, Bhopal, added, “Medicines should be sold only on a doctor’s prescription. A pharmacist should be present at the shop at all times to supervise the sale of medicines and ensure that they are stored at the correct temperature and in proper conditions. However, there is no rule mandating that every staff member must be a pharmacist.”
