Chris Jericho has been absent from All Elite Wrestling since April this year. In his last appearance, Y2J dropped his ROH World Championship to Bandido at AEW Dynasty pay-per-view. His absence has been fueling rumors that he could be on his way to WWE in the coming months. WWE veteran Vince Russo recently gave his opinions on the matter with Jericho and AEW. The former WWE writer pointed out that The Learning Tree is in his twilight years in professional wrestling. Therefore, it is implausible that he would be looking to waste his time. Besides, considering his recent comments where he threw shade on AEW by putting TNA over, it could mean that things might not be right between him and Tony Khan’s company. Speaking on The Coach & Bro, Vince Russo said that Chris Jericho might be bitter with All Elite Wrestling, and hence, he is allegedly burying the company. Russo added that the former WWE Champion could be looking to put himself in the limelight to kick off bidding wars when his contract with AEW would be over. “I’m not really surprised because there’s either one of two things going on. He’s either positioning himself for a bidding war, or he’s bitter. It’s one of those two things. I would almost have to believe the latter. He has not wrestled since April.” said Russo Check out the full comments below: Tony Khan says the door is open for Chris Jericho to return to AEW Chris Jericho has been one of the key players in AEW’s success. In the interview on the Ariel Helwani Show, Khan said that Jericho can always return to AEW because he loves to have him in the company. Tony Khan confirmed that the former AEW World Champion is still with AEW and he recently reached out the the star on his birthday. “I just reached out, wished him a happy birthday recently. Tony Khan has allegedly stopped using 32-year-old in AEW as he’s likely to join WWE – Reports
AEW head honcho Tony Khan is reportedly disinterested in utilizing 32-year-old New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) athlete David Finlay due to rumors suggesting that Finlay may be WWE-bound. The star in question competed for the Jacksonville-based promotion earlier this year, in January.
Recent observations highlight a pattern where All Elite Wrestling’s Creative Head, Tony Khan, tends to avoid prominently and regularly featuring talent who are expected to leave AEW to join their competition. This approach has been evident with wrestlers such as Miro, Blake Monroe, and Ricky Starks, who have not appeared on AEW programming for extended periods, presumably due to rumors of their departures. Similar speculation surrounds Chris Jericho and Private Party, according to recent rumors.
According to Dave Meltzer’s commentary on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the same reasoning might apply to NJPW star David Finlay. Meltzer suggested that the Bullet Club War Dogs leader has not been showcased as frequently on AEW television compared to his teammates—such as Gabe Kidd, Clark Connors, Drilla Moloney, and Robbie X—because of the possibility that Finlay could sign with the Stamford-based WWE promotion.
“Maybe there’s the feeling that David is going to end up in WWE and Tony doesn’t want to use him,” Meltzer stated.
Meltzer further emphasized that Tony Khan has little interest in featuring performers who are projected to be headed to WWE, especially if those talents are not directly under his employ.
“Tony Khan doesn’t want to use people who are going to go to WWE even though it’s inevitable that a lot of the guys he’s using will end up in WWE just because of how wrestling works. But if you’re pretty sure they’re gonna go, then why use them?” Meltzer added.
David Finlay wrestled under the AEW banner earlier this year at the AEW x NJPW x CMLL Wrestle Dynasty event in January, where he defeated Brody King in singles competition. He also faced current AEW Men’s World Champion Hangman Page in a one-on-one match in June 2022, though he was unsuccessful in that bid.

Mercedes Mone is trying to convince major star to leave WWE for AEW, according to wrestling legend
AEW star Mercedes Mone could play a major role in a potential WWE star’s switch to the Jacksonville-based promotion, according to wrestling legend Konnan.
Former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley is a longtime friend of the TBS Champion. The two rose through the ranks together in NXT and later shared time on the main roster, but they now work for different companies. Despite this, they continue to support each other on social media and even attend shows discreetly.
Bayley’s contract with WWE, the sports entertainment giant, is set to expire in 2026. Over the years, she has been a key figure in WWE’s women’s division. However, she has recently been overlooked for several opportunities, which could be a significant factor when she negotiates her next deal.
Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone, known as “The CEO” in AEW, has been dominating the pro wrestling business and breaking multiple records. Speaking on the podcast *Keepin’ It 100 OFFICIAL*, veteran wrestler Konnan revealed that Mercedes Mone might be trying to convince Bayley to jump ship and sign with All Elite Wrestling.
“I’m sure Sasha [Banks, aka Mercedes Mone] is trying to sell [Bayley] on it. They’re best friends. ‘I got 10 championships. I do what I want. I write my own storylines with Peppermint Patty.’ You know, [Mone] probably telling all the stuff she gets away with because she’s a mark for her. But Bayley looks like she’s happy where she’s at. And she was always since she was a little girl, a WWE fan!” Konnan explained.

### Mercedes Mone Sends a Message to Bayley
A few weeks ago, Bayley announced she would be conducting a three-day wrestling seminar for women to help shape the future of pro wrestling.
Recently, Mercedes Mone took to X (formerly Twitter) and sarcastically shared her career statistics while applying for the seminar. She wrote:
> “Hey Pam, I mean Bayley! Huge mark for you and women’s wrestling. Would love to train with you. 15 year pro GOAT CEO 10 belts Moné Please approve my application.”
With their close friendship and mutual respect, it will be interesting to see if “The Role Model” ever joins AEW in the future.
