‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ To Reduce Volume Of Musical Artists Each Week

The volume of musical guests on late-night television is set to decrease again in 2026, following news that *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* (JKL) will be reducing its number of performance slots. Deadline has confirmed that the show plans to cut the number of musical performances each week to around two.

While this figure is not fixed and the show has not always featured a musical performance in every episode, the overall intention is to scale back the number of live music slots.

This reduction comes amid a broader trend: the number of musical performances on late-night TV dropped significantly—from around 800 weekly performances between 2011 and 2013 to closer to 200 in 2023, according to a report by music publication *Consequence of Sound*.

*The Hollywood Reporter* revealed that JKL’s music producer, Jim Pitt, has begun notifying artist managers, record labels, and promo bookers about the planned cuts. Pitt collaborates on musical bookings with former sElf bassist Mac Burrus.

Last year, *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* featured a diverse lineup of musical guests, including The Linda Lindas, The Weeknd, My Morning Jacket, Soccer Mommy, Finneas, Red Kross, Cameron Winter, Japanese Breakfast, Smokey Robinson, Rilo Kiley, Garbage, Lil Wayne, Queens of the Stone Age, Public Enemy, Haim, Dawes, and MJ Lenderman.

Interestingly, this decline in musical performances on traditional late-night shows coincides with fresh energy in the space, thanks to new entrants like Netflix’s *Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney*. Launched last year, the show has showcased performances from notable artists such as Kim Gordon and Kim Deal, Mannequin Pussy, Metz, Sleater-Kinney, and The Velvet Underground’s John Cale, offering a much-needed boost to live music on late-night TV.

This past weekend, the BGSU swim and dive (8-0, 2-0) team traveled east to Cleveland to compete for the Mangus Cup Invitational at Busbey Natatorium, finding themselves in third place. The meet ran for three days from Thursday to Saturday and included schools such as Northern Colorado, Binghamton, Cleveland State, John Carroll, Le Moyne, St. Bonaventure, and Xavier. Thursday The first day of the meet, the Falcons had a strong start to the day with women’s dive during the A-final. Senior Natalia Mayorga placed first in the women’s one-meter dive with a score of 287. 05. This score is one of Mayorga’s strongest dives of the season so far. Senior Evie Long found herself in first place during the B-final for the one-meter dive, obtaining a score of 226. 00. This success will continue later during the evening finals. Senior Emily McNicol took second place in the 50 back during the A-final, finding a new personal best at 25. 01. During the C-final, Sophomore Annie Berrow won the 50 back at 27. 22, which is a season best for Berrow. This momentum continued during the 50-meter breaststroke. Freshman Lauren Jablonski finished second at 28. 69 in the A-final, finding a new season best during this event. During the 200 IM, senior Madison Bond found herself in second place in the A-final at 2: 05. 31, and senior Grace Bodrock took first place in the B-final at 2: 05. 57. By the end of the first day of the meeting, Bowling Green sat in fourth place in the women’s standings with 256 points. Friday The Falcons found themselves broadening their scores the next day in almost all events of the day. Mayorga once again obtained points for the team while diving off the 3-meter board. She found herself runner-up during the A-final at a score of 292. 00. McNicol shone through for Bowling Green during the second day of the meet with her win in the 100 back, with her time at 53. 36. This has been one of the meet’s top performances so far. The time is ranked among the fastest of the program, surpassing the No. 3 standard of 54. 35. The success for McNicol doesn’t just stop at the 100 back. Her opening start of the 200 medley relay had the Falcons finishing in third place with the help of Jablonski, sophomore Karina Solera, and sophomore Samia Becdach with a time of 1: 41. 32. During the 100 breaststroke, Jablonski would finish in third place, securing 20 points for Bowling Green with a time of 1: 02. 55. Bond would find herself in fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 4: 26. 29, which would be one of the team’s stronger mid-distance times of the night. Entering Saturday and the final day of the meet, BG moved up on the scoreboard and now sits in third place. Saturday The Falcons started the day with a prominent performance on the scoreboards. Both the A-team and the B-team placed high, with the A-team securing first place with 288. 90 points and the B-team in second at 265. 70. These scores would help Bowling Green keep a prominent diving record throughout the meet. Becdach started the 100 IM, finishing in fourth place with a time of 57. 00, which is now a personal best and a qualifier for the CSCAA NIC A cut. Berrow would reach a personal best of 25. 73 during the 50 butterfly stroke, finding a place in 13th overall. During the 200 backstroke, McNicol would find yet another win this weekend with a time of 2: 00. 15. Junior Alexandra Johnson would place ninth at 2: 05. 51. Moving to the 200 breaststroke, Jablonski would swim her way to seventh place at 2: 21. 17. Bond would find herself in 16th at 2: 24. 61 in the B-final. Bodrock would find herself at third on the podium during the 200-meter butterfly at a time of 2: 02. 81. To wrap up the meet, Becdach, Berrow, Bodrock, and junior Sierra Newton would work together to place seventh during the 400 freestyle relay. The Falcons pushed themselves hard to finish the meet at the end of the weekend on the podium in third place. The Bowling Green swim and dive team will travel once again for the Zippy Invitational on Dec. 4-7.

3 reasons why DC retaining T Natarajan ahead of IPL 2026 Auction was the right move despite heavy price tag

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, the Delhi Capitals (DC) announced their retention list on November 15. The franchise held on to 17 players, including seamer T Natarajan, and also brought in Nitish Rana through a trade with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Although most of the retentions were expected, Natarajan’s name surprised many, especially since he bowled only three overs in the 2025 season despite being signed for ₹10. 75 crore at the mega auction. Speaking to Star Sports, DC head coach Hemang Badani clarified that the Tamil Nadu pacer missed the majority of the last season due to injury, explaining that: “Last year, what happened with Nattu (Natarajan) was something many people didn’t know. Many were questioning why he wasn’t being played and saying he is such a good bowler and yet was not played despite costing ₹11 crore. But people need to understand that we have also played enough cricket ourselves. If I am paying someone ₹11 crore, I wouldn’t keep him on the bench without a reason. The real reason was that Nattu wasn’t fit. He was injured for a long time, and even when he became ready to return, he got injured again. Because of that, his entire season kept getting delayed, and we couldn’t play him.” As Delhi Capitals once again placed their trust in the 34-year-old, here are three reasons why retaining T Natarajan ahead of the IPL 2026 auction was the right call despite the hefty price tag. #1 Strengthens DC’s death-overs blueprint alongside Mitchell Starc As Delhi Capitals retained T Natarajan, a fully fit Tamil Nadu pacer could form a formidable death-overs partnership with Australia’s Mitchell Starc. In the 2025 season, Starc claimed 14 wickets in 11 matches, including a five-wicket haul, but his economy rate of 10. 16 is something he will aim to improve in the upcoming edition. Looking at their death-overs numbers, Natarajan has taken 38 wickets in 54 IPL innings at an economy of 10. 38, while Starc has 29 wickets in 35 innings with an economy of 9. 05. If both left-arm seamers operate together, combining their yorkers and variations, DC could finally have a reliable and potent death-overs bowling unit. #2 Limited Indian fast-bowling options make retaining him essential Another reason Delhi Capitals chose to retain the 34-year-old is the limited availability of Indian fast bowlers in the upcoming auction. Since the 2026 auction will be a mini auction, most teams have held on to their key players, including their core group of Indian seamers. With only a small pool of quality Indian pacers expected to be available, retaining Natarajan was a smart decision. His extensive IPL experience, along with his appearances for India across formats, makes him a valuable asset and a difficult player for DC to release, even at a price of ₹10. 75 crore #3 TNPL 2025 performances suggest he remains an impactful T20 bowler Although T Natarajan missed almost the entire IPL season, he delivered an impressive performance in the 2025 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). Representing Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans, he played a key role in their title-winning campaign, claiming 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 19. 60, a strike rate of 17. 90, and an excellent economy of 6. 56. With Natarajan still demonstrating his quality, and if he stays fit for the 2026 edition, he could be a major asset as DC push for their maiden title.

“I’m really worried for Sai Sudharsan” – Indian legend’s huge statement on team selection after IND vs SA 2025 1st Test

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has questioned the team management’s long-term strategy after naming Washington Sundar at No. 3, sidelining Sai Sudharsan during the first Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Men in Blue took an unorthodox approach by including four spinners, with an all-rounder batting at No. 3, while the left-handed batter was once again benched.

Team India has been grappling with the No. 3 spot during this transition phase but has yet to settle on a reliable choice or provide a consistent run for any candidate. Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan were tried in the top order during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Sudharsan had been locked in for the home series against the West Indies. Despite recording a promising 87 in the second Test against Roston Chase and company in Delhi, Sudharsan found himself dropped from the playing XI once again. Previously, he was excluded just after his debut at Headingley, Leeds, against England.

Ashwin expressed concern that the lack of consistent opportunities could undermine players’ confidence. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said, “I’m really worried for Sai Sudharsan, he is a good player. What would he be thinking after being dropped? I always feel that four spinners is too many to have in a team. Washington Sundar did not even bowl in the second innings. You play four spinners, then you don’t give a single over to one of them. These are all going to play into the confidence of the players.”

He added, “I know that in a T20I you tend to go with all-rounders, but specialists will work in Tests. In many ways, to create a lot of stability without insecurity, and giving people their roles are extremely crucial. These are crucial WTC points. India were looking prime to be in the final, because even Gill said at the toss that he will win one directly in the final. But we have to reach there first, and this match is a huge blow for that.”

Ashwin urged the team management to finalize their choice for the No. 3 batter and avoid changing it based on conditions. “He (Sundar) has the ability. But whether it is the right decision, only time can answer. We can speak about it and dissect it after a loss, but we have to give him time. I really think Sai Sudharsan has a good future. If we are to build the team around a No. 3, you need a No. 3 for that. See the batters that have played at No. 3, and there is stability required. If you are taking the Washington Sundar route, I hope you stick with Washi for a few years. The decision for the No. 3 batter cannot be fleeting, depending on the conditions,” he elaborated.

Washington Sundar delivered a decent performance on his maiden outing at No. 3 on a challenging wicket, scoring 29 and 31 in the first and second innings respectively. However, he bowled only one over throughout the match.

**India urged to focus on preparation ahead of second Test**

With a crucial second Test against South Africa looming, Team India faces multiple challenges. Shubman Gill’s injury and unavailability, along with the batters’ ongoing struggles against spin, have added to concerns as the hosts aim to avoid a second consecutive home series loss within 12 months.

Ravichandran Ashwin advised the Indian team to concentrate on preparation and building confidence rather than obsessing over pitch behavior. “The pressure is now all on India. If I am sitting in the South Africa dressing room, I will start looking downwards from now itself because there will be no bounce in Guwahati, and I will also be going in with a lot of smiles. India will be burning the midnight oil now. They will already be thinking about what wicket to prepare, what combination to play. I would say forget about the pitch, and focus on the practice and confidence. If we do that, I think we will come out okay. But if we continue to obsess over the pitch, I think we are in for another trouble-filled Test,” Ashwin concluded.

The second Test between India and South Africa will begin on Saturday, November 22, at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. This match will mark the first time the venue hosts an international red-ball game.

Justin Fields’ starting role hangs in balance as Jets look to crack win column vs. Panthers

Justin Fields is on the clock. The Jets quarterback is coming off one of the worst passing performances in franchise history, and the question entering Sunday’s game against the Panthers is whether he will be the starting quarterback when it finishes.

Coach Aaron Glenn has fiercely defended Fields this week and given no indication he is thinking of benching him. But the team is 0-6, and Fields is coming off a game in which he took nine sacks and the offense had minus-10 passing yards. You have to think that if Fields struggles again against Carolina, Glenn would have to turn to backup Tyrod Taylor. Not that you can get Glenn to even come close to saying that.

“When you look at what Justin did, the games that he played, listen, I didn’t think he was bad at all,” Glenn said of the four games Fields played prior to last week’s debacle against the Broncos. “I actually thought he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, he took a step back, you know, and I’m with you guys 100 percent, and we can’t have that, you know. We have to get better at that, and he knows that. He knows that better than anyone, so I don’t think you just try to bench a player after having one true bad game, because I thought the other games he played fairly well.”

[CHECK OUT THE LATEST NFL STANDINGS AND JETS STATS]

The big topic this week has been how long Fields takes to throw the ball. There also has been discussion of whether Fields needs to be more aggressive taking shots downfield, something he agreed with.

“I feel like I’ve been a little bit too conservative in a sense,” Fields said. “Probably just be a little bit more aggressive. I’ve always just been big on ball security and not putting the ball in jeopardy, but it comes to a point where you just got to find that healthy balance between trying to maybe fit it in smaller windows and just letting it rip.”

The Panthers beat the Cowboys last week to improve to 3-3, winning their second straight game. They have not won three in a row since 2021. However, they are 0-3 on the road this season.

Glenn and the Jets desperately need their first win to quiet the noise around the team. Glenn repeatedly said this week he is undeterred.

“I understand how it looks on the outside, and the thing is, I told you guys and I told the fans, man: Do not let go of the rope,” Glenn said. “The thing I know we’re doing is we’re trying to build a solid foundation so we can consistently try to win.”

Ryukyu Opera Premieres With Tale of Kingdom’s King and Queen

Composed by Urasoe native Arakatsu, the opera masterfully blends traditional Ryukyuan performing arts—such as classical dance and folk songs—with Western orchestral music, creating a unique cultural fusion.

Spectators praised not only the powerful vocal performances and live orchestration but also the inclusion of elements like karate demonstrations and traditional island rituals, which deepened the production’s local flavor.

“I was amazed by how many traditional arts were woven into the story from singing and dance to karate,” said one audience member. “It was both fun and deeply moving.”

Another attendee added, “I saw the production last year too, and I’m always impressed. It’s a kind of opera that could only exist in Okinawa, and the love between the two leads was so powerful.”

As the final notes of the live orchestra echoed through the theater, the audience responded with thunderous applause. Many praised the work as a celebration of Okinawa’s “chanpuru” spirit—the blending of cultures—and a powerful new expression of tradition through contemporary art.

“Traditional arts combined with new forms of expression make them even more compelling,” said one commentator, summing up the mood of a night when history, music, and emotion came together on stage.

Crowds Rush to Final Weekend of Osaka-Kansai Expo

Long lines formed early in the morning outside the venue’s east gate. When the gates opened around 9 a.m., crowds streamed in, eager to make their way to their favorite pavilions.

Many attendees expressed mixed feelings about finally getting a chance to attend just before the event concludes.
“I’m glad I made it in at the very last moment. I wish they would extend the run,” said one visitor. Another added, “It’s sad to see it end, so I’m going to make the most of the last day.”

On the same day, Shanghai—a sister city to Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City—hosted a special one-day event. Visitors enjoyed Chinese music and dance performances, gaining a unique opportunity to experience overseas culture.

Expo organizers also reminded attendees that unused tickets without reserved dates can still be exchanged for admission passes until October 12th, the day before the event closes.

The Expo, which has spanned 184 days, will officially end on October 13th.
