Almost nothing has gone right for the Arizona Cardinals this season. Arizona sits in the NFC West basement with a 3-8 record. Six of those losses have been by four or fewer points, including the heartbreaking 27-24 overtime home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 23rd. Starting quarterback Kyler Murray is likely done for the year following a foot injury and a subsequent benching. To make matters worse, the rest of the teams in the NFC West are having good seasons. It has been a rough year in the desert, as hardly anything has broken in favor of the Cardinals. Well, that trend may change soon. Arizona could get some advantageous news ahead of its Week 13 road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reports Indicate That Baker Mayfield Could Miss Sunday’s Game There is a decent chance the Arizona Cardinals will not face Baker Mayfield when they play the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Tampa Bay starting quarterback missed the second half of its 34-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams after he suffered a shoulder injury. Mayfield’s shoulder injury sparked concern that he could be sidelined for a while. If he is out, that would leave Teddy Bridgewater to start for Tampa Bay after he played the second half against the Rams. Following Mayfield’s MRI on Monday, it seems like there is a real possibility that Bridgewater could suit up for the Buccaneers. That would be an interesting twist for the Arizona Cardinals. Here is what NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport reported about Mayfield’s status on Monday: It is good news for Tampa Bay fans and NFL fans in general that Mayfield only has a low-grade left shoulder sprain. An injury like that probably means he plays multiple games in the stretch run for the Buccaneers. However, that report is far from a guarantee or even a likelihood that Mayfield plays on Sunday vs. the Arizona Cardinals. Enter Teddy Bridgewater. The Arizona Cardinals Could Play Against Teddy Bridgewater in Tampa Flying across the country to play a winning team is never easy in the NFL. It is a bit easier if that team is starting a backup quarterback. Most NFL viewers learned on Sunday that Teddy Bridgewater was still in the NFL, and that he plays for Tampa Bay. The 33-year-old Bridgewater signed the Buccaneers after he was suspended as head football coach of Miami Northwestern High School this summer. He had previously retired after the 2023 season, then rejoined the Detroit Lions at the end of the 2024 regular season. Aside from throwing for 62 yards in the second half against Los Angeles, Bridgewater has not played meaningful NFL snaps since 2022 when he was with the Miami Dolphins. While Bridgewater and Tampa Bay feel confident, one would expect the veteran quarterback to experience some rust after such limited action. Bridgewater isn’t particularly mobile anyway, so the Cardinals pass rush could have some opportunities against him. Mayfield’s shoulder sprain could open the door for an easier-than-expected road game for the Arizona Cardinals. Of course, backup quarterbacks win games all the time. But for a desperate Arizona Cardinals team that has lost three games in a row, they will take all the help they can get.

Martin completes redemption tour with 8-Player Division 1 football state title win over Montabella
The final stop on the Martin redemption tour was successful, making the hours at practice and on the farm worthwhile. The Clippers, who were knocked out in the second round of the 2024 playoffs, earned their third state title in four years, running past Blanchard Montabella for a 52-8 win Saturday in the 2025 8-Player Division 1 championship game at Northern Michigan University. “From Day One, we wanted to redeem ourselves,” Martin coach Brad Blauvelt said. “It was heartbreaking last year. We thought we could win four in a row. We wanted to get back this year and finish it right. “This senior class was special. They’re friends. They hung out with each other. I was super tight with them. They helped me move. They worked on my farm. I will miss these seniors.” The Clippers won the 2022 state title, beating Merrill, 74-24, before tacking on the 2023 championship with a 30-26 win over Indian River Inland Lakes. But Martin lost to Mendon, 26-22, in a 2024 regional final. In Saturday’s state final, Montabella scored first, with Brady Kieff running for a 3-yard touchdown and a 2-point conversion. “They came out swinging for sure,” Blauvelt said. “There were a couple mistakes on that first drive. We didn’t panic. These boys have been in so many tough situations a couple years ago where we won. Once we settled in, we were OK.” Senior quarterback Haylen Buell, who played in Martin’s previous two state finals, was more than OK. Buell capped his career with three touchdown runs and a TD pass against the 11-2 Mustangs. Buell finished with 179 yards rushing on nine carries and completed 7 of 7 passes for 134 yards, with one interception. “He was a monster today, and he has been all season,” Blauvelt said. “He wanted the third title. He was the driving force. I talk a lot about the senior class and how special they were. They wanted it. Haylen likes football. He likes to be physical, and that mindset rubbed off on everyone.” After Montabella’s opening touchdown, Martin answered with a 3-yard run and 2-point conversion by Buell for an 8-8 tie after one quarter. The Clippers took over the game in the second quarter, scoring 30 points for a 38-8 halftime lead. Bryer Watson began the scoring with an 81-yard TD run, with Buell tacking on a 44-yard TD run. After Seth Toris ran for a 1-yard score, Buell found Anderson Keeler for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Toris also ran for a pair of 2-point conversions. Elkins, who ran for a 2-pointer in the second quarter, scored on a 52-yard run in the third quarter, with Buell hitting Watson for the conversion. Buell finished the scoring with a 62-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Martin totaled 498 yards of offense, including 364 on the ground. Montabella was held to 101 yards rushing and 87 passing. Watson added six carries for 111 yards for the Clippers, with Ethan Greene catching four passes for 23 yards. Watson added two catches for 68 yards. Isaac Suk paced the Martin defense with six tackles, while Buell added five unassisted tackles and two assists. Noah Carlson had five tackles for Montabella, which made its first state final appearance. Gabriel Kauffman led Montabella with eight carries for 54 yards, completing 9 of 22 passes for 87 yards. “This class, this team was special,” Blauvelt said. “Before the season, we asked them to play with great effort, be selfless and be a teammate. “And they did.”.

James and Ruby’s relationship is seemingly solidified by the middle of the season. But this is Maxton Hall, so anything can happen before the finale episode airs. The synopsis for the sophomore season acknowledged the “stroke of fate in James’ family [that changed] everything and James himself, of all people,” and he manages to bring Ruby back “from cloud nine to a harsh reality.” Though she’s “devastated,” Ruby has “never had such strong feelings for anyone as she does for James and never before has anyone hurt her so deeply.” By episode 4, the couple agree to keep their relationship private for the time being, but James’ father, Mortimer, is still cold about his son’s happiness.

Oscar-nominated songwriter remembers coach John Beam as a ‘motivator’ in high school
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Tributes of love and remembrance are still pouring in from those whose lives were touched and impacted by coach John Beam. “He gave us so much and for this to be taken away from him it’s unreal,” said Taura Stinson. Taura Stinson is an Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter now writing music for film and TV, her story begins at Frick Middle School in Oakland where John Beam taught P. E. and later at Skyline High School. “He always had idioms, he said if you stay ready, you ain’t got to get ready,” Stinson said. VIDEO: John Beam’s former players, now NFL athletes, react to Oakland Laney College shooting Beam became the mentor Taura never knew she needed in high school at a time when she was figuring out her music. “He was one of a few teachers who’d listen to my song when they were written on a gum wrapper. I’m like, it goes like this, nah, nah, nah. Some silly little song but he’d say, ‘Taura that is so great,”‘ Stinson added. Beam and Stinson would become lifelong friends. She shared a text from beam who posted in 2022 that Stinson had been nominated for an Oscar in 2022 but she kindly corrected him it wasn’t true. Beam responded, “my bad but you’re still a superstar. We were still in touch he checked in on me. I have text lines ‘I’m so proud of you, look at you.’ He called me ‘superstar.’ Even as a kid pouring into me, I’m sad no other kid is going to get that anymore,” Stinson added. Damon Owens, is pastor at Genesis Church in Antioch, but rewind to the early 1990s when he was playing football at Skyline High. He says coach Beam was there with guidance and hope. “Upon meeting him, I had a 1. 67 GPA. I was on the brink of dropping out, my parents didn’t know, my siblings didn’t know. I was suffering in silence. He created an atmosphere of winning and his values are the same I use as a husband, father, teacher, pastor,” said Owens. Both Owens and Stinson say moving on without Beam is heartbreaking. A person who believed in them and so many others. “Tough love with a soft spot,” Stinson said.

Iowa football vs. USC expert predictions nationally
Last weekend was heartbreaking for Iowa players, coaches, and fans. The Hawkeyes battled for 60 minutes but came up just short in an 18-16 loss to Oregon. With the loss, Iowa saw its College Football Playoff hopes end and extended its losing streak against ranked opponents to 12 games.
While the playoff seems to be off the table, Iowa has a chance to end that ranked opponent losing streak this Saturday. The Hawkeyes will make the cross-country trip to Los Angeles for a matchup with the 17th-ranked USC Trojans.
Iowa has traditionally struggled playing on the West Coast, and they’ll need to overcome those demons if they want to win this game and break the streak against ranked teams. The 7-2 Trojans are playing some really good football at the moment and will present a huge test for the Hawkeyes.
### Expert Predictions: Iowa vs. USC
**College Football News: USC 27, Iowa 20**
College Football News is backing the home team to win this game. Here’s more from Pete Fiutak:
“Oregon ran for 261 yards and averaged over seven yards per carry last week against the Hawkeyes. The Iowa style sort of travels, but wins over Wisconsin and Rutgers are nothing compared to going to USC and dealing with this high-powered attack. The Trojans will bring out the Hawkeye offensive pop — Mark Gronowski will throw a bit more, but the pace will get too fast. USC will pass a key test before the showdown at Oregon.”
**CBS Sports**
CBS had nine experts make their picks for this game. Four of the experts picked Iowa to cover the -6.5 point spread, with three of those experts picking the Hawkeyes to win the game straight up.
**Athlon Sports**
Athlon Sports had three experts weigh in, and all three picked USC to take home the victory.
**Bleacher Report: USC 27, Iowa 16**
Bleacher Report is backing the Trojans at home. Here’s what David Keny had to say:
“After being so painfully close to upsetting Oregon, can Iowa shake the disappointment on the road? That seems like a tough ask, even as USC presents a ‘spoiler’ opportunity for the Hawkeyes once again. USC is perfect at home in 2025.”
**Sporting News**
Sporting News is taking USC to win and cover the spread. Bill Bender adds:
“Iowa is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Oregon. Can the Hawkeyes keep up on the road against USC’s high-powered offense that leads the Big Ten with 503.2 yards per game? USC is 4-1 ATS at home this season, and that time-zone difference will hit here.”
**The New York Times**
The Times is picking the Hawkeyes to pull the upset in overtime, though they did not provide a specific score prediction.

Will Iowa overcome its struggles on the West Coast and extend USC’s first home loss of the season? Fans will be watching closely as these two programs face off in a crucial late-season matchup.

Charlie Kirk’s Widow Erika Says 3-Year-Old Daughter Still Asks for ‘Daddy’ Months After His Murder [WATCH]
Erika Kirk, widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, gave her first television interview since her husband’s assassination, revealing the ongoing impact of the tragedy on their young family. Nearly two months after Charlie Kirk’s death, their 3-year-old daughter continues to ask for her father, as reported by The New York Post.
Speaking with Fox News host Jesse Watters, Erika shared the heartbreaking questions from her daughter and described how she has been guiding her through the grieving process.
“It’s really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things, and I said, ‘if you ever want to talk to daddy you just look up to the sky and start talking, and he can hear you,’” Erika explained. “I told her, ‘You know, daddy is in heaven’ and she goes, ‘Do you think I could go sometime?’”
“I said, ‘Baby, we will all go one day,’” she continued.
Charlie and Erika Kirk had two children together: a daughter who turned 3 in August and a son who turned 1 in May.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was tragically shot and killed on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. Authorities reported that the suspected gunman, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, opened fire during the event, striking Kirk in the neck.
The shooting was captured on multiple videos that later circulated widely on social media. Robinson was arrested days later following a multi-state manhunt and charged with aggravated murder and related offenses. Prosecutors have confirmed he could face the death penalty by firing

Stephen A. Smith blasts Blue Jays’ Addison Barger for World Series Game 6 blunder
The Toronto Blue Jays experienced one of the most heartbreaking losses in World Series history in Game 6 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In the top of the ninth inning, Toronto began mounting a rally. A hit-by-pitch followed by a ground-rule double put runners on second and third with no outs. The Dodgers responded by sending in starter Tyler Glasnow to relieve their pitcher, trying to quell the threat.
With runners in scoring position and no outs, the Blue Jays were in a prime position to at least tie the game. After Ernie Clement hit a first-pitch flyout, the resilient George Springer was expected to come to the plate following Andres Gimenez. However, Springer never got the chance to take his fifth at-bat.
Gimenez hit a soft line drive straight to Kike Hernandez in left field, recording the second out. But in a stunning turn of events, Hernandez noticed Blue Jays hitter Addison Barger had strayed too far off second base. Hernandez and second baseman Miguel Rojas executed a perfectly synchronized double play, tagging out Barger to end the game.
This costly “Little League” error might have wasted Toronto’s golden opportunity to close out the Dodgers once and for all.
Media personality Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back in criticizing Barger and the Blue Jays for the mistake. Posting on X, Smith said:
“Great game in the World Series Dodgers win 3-1. Barber for the @BlueJays picked off at 2nd after a line drive to left. Here’s my thing: How in the hell do you get picked off on a line drive. Message: Little League teaches you. A runner on 2nd Base FREEZES on line drives. Baseball 101. But great pick off by KiKe Hernandez!”
With the victory, the Dodgers have forced a decisive Game 7 in the 2025 World Series. Despite the Blue Jays maintaining home-field advantage, the Dodgers now carry all the momentum after that clutch defensive play.
Max Scherzer is the likely Game 7 starter for Toronto. Meanwhile, Los Angeles’ pitching plans appear to be in flux. Glasnow’s surprise relief appearance late in Game 6 could affect his availability, though he still may pitch given his limited workload. Additionally, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hasn’t ruled out a potential start from Shohei Ohtani in the final game.
The stage is set for an epic showdown to decide the championship. Baseball fans can only wait and see who will rise to the occasion in Game 7.

4 family members of Darren Bailey, GOP governor candidate, killed in Montana helicopter crash
The son of Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey, along with two of Bailey’s grandchildren and daughter-in-law, were killed in a helicopter crash in Montana, the former state senator’s campaign announced early Thursday.
“On Wednesday evening, Darren and his wife, Cindy, received the heartbreaking news no parent ever wants to hear. Their son, Zachary, his wife, Kelsey, and their two young children, Vada Rose, age 12, and Samuel, age 7, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter accident in Montana,” the campaign said on Facebook.
The accident comes just weeks after Bailey announced his plans to run for the GOP nomination for governor for the second time. Bailey was the Republican nominee for the office in 2022 before losing by about 13 percentage points to Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker.
“Darren and Cindy are heartbroken by this unimaginable loss,” the Bailey campaign said on Facebook. “They are finding comfort in their faith, their family, and the prayers of so many who love and care for them. The Baileys deeply appreciate the kindness and support they have received and ask for privacy as they grieve and hold their loved ones close during this difficult time.”
Details of the crash were not immediately available.
In a statement on X, Governor JB Pritzker and his wife, MK, offered their condolences to the Bailey family.
“MK and I are devastated to learn of the tragic passing of Darren and Cindy Bailey’s son Zachary, daughter-in-law Kelsey, and their two young children Vada Rose and Samuel,” the governor said. “Our prayers and deep condolences are with the Baileys in this time of grief. May the memories of their loved ones be a blessing.”
This is a developing story.
