Russell Wilson posts about making off-field moves amid Giants naming Jameis Winston as starter for Week 11

With Jaxson Dart placed in concussion protocol, the New York Giants will turn to Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback this Sunday.

This change in the lineup pushes Russell Wilson further down the depth chart, altering the team’s quarterback dynamics for the upcoming game.

Democrats Shift Media Focus Back To Jeffrey Epstein With Email Release Of Claim Trump “Knew About The Girls”; White House Calls It A “Fake Narrative”

House Democrats shifted media attention back to the Jeffrey Epstein files on Wednesday with the release of a series of emails claiming that Donald Trump had more knowledge of the convicted sex offender’s conduct than previously disclosed.

In one of the emails released, Epstein wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell on April 2, 2011: “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump.. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned. Police chief. etc. im 75 % there.” Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that.”

In another email, dated January 31, 2019, Epstein wrote to journalist Michael Wolff, “[Victim] mara lago. [identifier]. Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop.”

CNN and MSNBC gave extensive coverage to the email release this morning, while Fox News provided less focus on the story. However, Democrats appear to have timed the release around the pending swearing-in of a newly elected House member, Democrat Adelita Grijalva of Arizona. She will provide the crucial 218th signature on a petition to force a vote on the release of the Epstein files.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has declined to seat Grijalva while the House has been out of session during the shutdown, but representatives are scheduled to vote later today on a resolution to reopen the government.

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the ranking member of the Oversight Committee, said in a statement: “These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what else the White House is hiding and the nature of the relationship between Epstein and the President.”

Republicans on the Oversight Committee responded with a statement saying, “Democrats whine about ‘releasing the files,’ but they only cherry-pick when they have them to generate clickbait.”

The GOP also revealed that the redacted name of the victim referenced in the emails is Virginia Giuffre. According to CNN, Giuffre said in a 2016 deposition that she “never saw or witnessed Donald Trump participate in those acts, but was he in the house of Jeffrey Epstein? I’ve heard he has been, but I haven’t seen him myself, so I don’t know.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement saying, “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.” She also noted that the ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in the emails is Virginia Giuffre, “who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions.”

Trump himself has acknowledged his relationship with Epstein but said they fell out of favor. “The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre. These stories are nothing more than bad-faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees right through this hoax and clear distraction from the government opening back up again.”

Another email released on Wednesday, dated December 16, 2015, shows an exchange between Wolff and Epstein regarding Trump’s pending appearance on CNN.

“I hear CNN planning to ask Trump tonight about his relationship with you—either on air or in scrum afterwards,” Wolff wrote.

Epstein replied, “if we were able to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?”

Wolff responded, “I think you should let him hang himself. If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency. You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt. Of course, it is possible that, when asked, he’ll say Jeffrey is a great guy and has gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which is to be outlawed in a Trump regime.”

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie adds more star power, including The Odyssey and Captain Marvel actors as Princess Rosalina and Bowser Jr.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has added even more star power to the popular video game adaptation franchise by bringing in a Marvel star and an esteemed director in two major roles.

As announced by Nintendo during The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct livestream on YouTube, Avengers: Endgame star Brie Larson has joined the cast as the “cosmic protector” Princess Rosalina. Additionally, director-turned-actor Benny Safdie has been cast as the “mischievous” Bowser Jr. Both actors made their debut in the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer, which has fans excited for the sequel.

It’s fitting that Princess Rosalina appears in the new movie, as the character was first introduced in the original Super Mario Galaxy game. Known as the Watcher of the Stars, Rosalina is responsible for protecting the cosmos and the Lumas. She is often found in the Comet Observatory—a location we got a sneak peek of in the trailer.

Bowser Jr., on the other hand, is known as a troublemaker. With his father, Bowser, now shrunken after eating a mini mushroom at the end of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it is expected that Junior will take on a more prominent antagonist role in this sequel. In the trailer, Bowser Jr. approaches Mario and declares, “I’m Bowser Junior, and I’m going to be taking my father now.” In the games, Bowser Jr. is the heir of the Fire Kingdom and a formidable opponent, though not as powerful as his dad.

Brie Larson is best known for portraying hero Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She has also lent her voice to animated characters, most recently in the Netflix series *Scott Pilgrim Takes Off*. Benny Safdie is one-half of the acclaimed Safdie brothers directing duo, known for films like *Uncut Gems* and *Good Time*. Besides directing, Safdie has appeared as an actor in numerous films, including *Happy Gilmore 2*, and is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s *The Odyssey*.

Larson and Safdie join returning cast members Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return for the sequel, working from a script written by Matthew Fogel. Composer Brian Tyler is also back to create the film’s score.

With this talented new cast and creative team, the Super Mario Galaxy Movie promises to be an exciting continuation of the beloved franchise. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches!

Florida Democrats push gun-control bills just weeks after open-carry law takes effect

**Florida Democrats File Gun Control Bills Amidst Political Challenges and Open Carry Legalization**

GAINESVILLE — Democrats in Florida’s Legislature have filed more than a dozen gun control bills less than two months after the state legalized open carry. Even party lawmakers acknowledge these bills are unlikely to advance, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by gun control advocates in Tallahassee.

The routine introduction of gun-control legislation, often without significant progress, has drawn criticism from prominent gun violence prevention advocates. Fred Guttenberg, whose 14-year-old daughter Jaime was killed in the 2018 Parkland school shooting, expressed disappointment with Democratic lawmakers.

“Unfortunately in the state of Florida, the majority of those on the Democratic side have just become weak,” Guttenberg said. “They’ve forgotten how to fight; they’ve accepted the idea that they can’t accomplish much, and I think they’re mistaken.”

### Legislative Roadblocks and Republican Opposition

None of the Democratic-sponsored bills aimed at restricting gun rights have been scheduled for committee hearings by the Republican leadership. In contrast, a Republican-backed measure to broaden gun rights is already set for a committee vote.

The Republican bill, led by Rep. Tyler Sirois (R-Merritt Island), proposes lowering the legal age to purchase any firearm from 21 to 18. It is expected to face its first vote in the House Criminal Justice subcommittee, where Republicans hold a 12-5 majority. A similar bill failed earlier this year when the Senate declined to approve the House-backed legislation.

### Key Democratic Gun Control Proposals

Democrat-backed bills introduced for the 2026 legislative session include:

– **Ban on Assault-Style Weapons and Large-Capacity Magazines:** Proposed by Sen. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D-Orlando), this bill seeks to prohibit the sale of assault-style guns and magazines that carry more than 10 bullets.

– **Limits on Gun Carrying Locations:** Bills by Rep. Christine Hunschofsky (D-Coconut Creek) and Sen. Tina Polsky (D-Boca Raton) would ban civilians from carrying weapons in government buildings, police stations, courthouses, schools, and other specified locations.

– **Safe Storage Requirements:** Legislation by Sen. Darryl Ervin Rouson (D-St. Petersburg), and Reps. Yvonne Hayes Hinson (D-Gainesville) and Dan Daley (D-Coral Springs) would require guns in vehicles or boats to be stored locked and out of sight. Senate Minority Leader Lori Berman (D-Boynton Beach) filed a similar bill.

– **Expanded Criminal Liability and Safety Measures:** A bill by Sen. Polsky aims to increase criminal liability if minors access guns and mandates gun manufacturers to provide safety warnings and demonstrate safe gun locks.

– **Responsible Firearm Safety Awareness:** Rep. Tae Edmonds (D-West Palm Beach) proposed designating June as “Responsible Firearm Safety Awareness Month.”

### “Jamie’s Law” and Background Checks for Ammunition

Among the most notable proposals is “Jamie’s Law,” named after Guttenberg’s daughter Jaime. The bill would require background checks for ammunition purchases. It has been introduced six times in Congress without success but has passed in California, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, and New Jersey.

In Florida, Sen. Polsky and Rep. Dan Daley introduced the ammunition background check bills. However, Daley’s bill faces an extra procedural hurdle in the House, requiring passage through four committees instead of the usual three — a move viewed as a strategy by Republican leadership to stall the legislation.

Polsky acknowledged the difficulty in passing the bill. “It’s very doubtful or even impossible,” she said, “but I still file these bills because they’re important for my constituents and it’s important policy.”

Daley, a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School graduate, echoed this sentiment. “That doesn’t mean that we don’t continue to push as hard as we can because it’s important policy that keeps us all safe,” he said. “I work on school safety, reasonable gun reform, mental health reform, trying to make sure that something like the tragedy at my alma mater doesn’t happen again.”

### Judicial and Political Climate Favoring Gun Rights

Recent court rulings in Florida have favored gun rights over control. In September, a state appeals panel struck down Florida’s law prohibiting openly carrying a gun in public as unconstitutional. More recently, a Broward County circuit judge ruled that the state’s law barring people under age 21 from carrying concealed weapons violates the Second Amendment.

Gun rights supporters view the Democrat-sponsored bills as infringements on their constitutional rights. Logan Edge, executive director of the Florida Gun Rights Association, criticized the proposed measures and called for repealing post-Parkland laws, including “red flag laws” that enable courts to seize firearms from individuals deemed a threat.

“Most people that buy firearms are law-abiding citizens,” Edge said. “Hundreds of millions of people in America own firearms legally, and we are not the problem when it comes to violence, it’s criminals.”

He further questioned the effectiveness of background checks on ammunition purchases, arguing it would increase costs for sellers and is unlikely to reduce violence.

### Advocates Continue the Fight

Despite the obstacles, advocates like Guttenberg remain committed to pushing for stronger gun laws in Florida and nationwide.

“My motivation is really simple: It’s to stop the next dad from feeling what I feel,” Guttenberg said. “Because of what happened to my family, I’ve become somebody fully embracing the reality that we can and should be doing more to reduce gun violence in America.”

Guttenberg works through his foundation, Orange Ribbons for Jaime, and partners with groups such as the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence.

Daley hopes that in light of Florida’s recent open-carry court decisions, legislators will consider background checks and other safety measures as necessary counterbalances.

“If we’re going to do the craziness that is open carry, then certainly the people who are open-carrying should have to make sure that they are not prohibited purchasers and that they weren’t able to get a gun and ammunition when they weren’t supposed to,” Daley said.

### Conclusion

Florida’s political and judicial environment remains a challenging landscape for gun control legislation. While Democrats continue to introduce bills aimed at limiting access to firearms and enhancing safety measures, Republican majorities and favorable court rulings for gun rights create significant barriers. Advocates, however, remain steadfast, pushing for policies they believe will prevent future tragedies and reduce gun violence across the state.

3 reasons why MI trading in Shardul Thakur from LSG ahead of IPL 2026 would be the wrong move

Experienced Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur has become a subject of a potential trade deal involving the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the dying stages of the trading window. The 34-year-old is reportedly set for a switch ahead of the retention deadline set for Saturday, November 15. The player is currently leading Mumbai in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy campaign after being dropped from the Indian Test squad post the England tour. Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin broke the news while discussing MI’s potential releases ahead of the auction. “I don’t see MI releasing any player. Their only question would be around Deepak Chahar, who is a bit injury-prone. They have secured Shardul Thakur on a trade with LSG, that is done,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. On that note, let us take a look at three reasons why MI trading in Shardul Thakur from LSG ahead of IPL 2026 would be the wrong move. #1 Shardul Thakur has been off course in T20s for a while now Since his release from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the triumphant 2021 campaign, Shardul Thakur has not lasted more than a single season with any franchise. His big money stints with both the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were uneventful, leading to his subsequent. The same story followed with his return to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well in 2024. He was alarmingly unwanted by any franchise during the mega auction, and was a last-minute replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). It shows a lot as to how his graph has fallen with each subsequent year. Even his IPL 2025 campaign was nothing noteworthy as he ended with 13 wickets in 10 matches with an economy rate of 11. 02. There was a spark for him in T20s during the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, where he was the fourth-leading taker. However, even at his best, his economy read a 10. 51. As a result, with barely any positives apart from his familiarity with MI’s home venue, experience, and an erratic wicket-taking ability, a version of Shardul Thakur’s whose peak has already transpired, does not exactly come across as a shrewd MI signing. #2 MI already have several pace bowling all-rounder options in their side Almost all of the recent trades involving Shardul Thakur made sense to a certain extent since those franchises did not have the luxury of a pace bowling all-rounder, especially an Indian one, for the sake of balance and depth. However, for MI, who already have the No. 1-ranked T20 all-rounder in the world in Hardik Pandya, a reliable overseas pace bowling all-rounder in Corbin Bosch, and an emerging candidate in Raj Angad Bawa, this pursuit of Shardul Thakur makes very little sense. Even if MI considers him primarily as a bowling option, since he has batted only eight times across the last two seasons, the franchise have more than enough bowling depth to cover for Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah’s injury concerns. Emerging pacers like Ashwani Kumar and Satyanarayana Raju are more than enough cover for a short-term basis. #3 Auction pool might have been a better avenue for MI to build back up Even if MI are unsatisfied with the options they have in terms of depth or back-up, they always had the mini auction to bring in names instead of using the trade window. The player pool includes a vast variety of players of all kinds, traits, and age, and MI could have assessed those options, especially since it will have players that they scouted as per their core values. Granted, they might not have the biggest purse or a lot of slots available in the squad, but considering that they are not looking for outright first-team members, they could have taken the risk rather than jumping the gun with Shardul Thakur prior to the auction.

Sydney Sweeney Is Earning Oscar Buzz for ‘Christy’—Despite Box Office Flop

Sydney Sweeney’s performance in *Christy* is earning significant awards buzz, even as the film struggles at the box office. Many critics have applauded her portrayal of boxer Christy Martin in this biopic, which highlights both Martin’s career in the ring and the domestic abuse she survived outside of it.

The movie opened to just $1.3 million across more than 2,000 theaters, marking one of the worst openings on record. Despite its poor commercial debut, *Christy* has become a critical talking point, with Sweeney at the center of much of the attention.

The film premiered in September at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada, where Sweeney’s lead performance was widely praised. Critics at TIFF described her portrayal as a “career-best,” with some saying she “disappeared into the role” of the former boxing champion.

Though the film itself has drawn mixed reactions and experienced sparse audience turnout, Sweeney’s performance has consistently stood out. On Rotten Tomatoes, *Christy* holds a 97 percent audience score on the Popcorn Meter. The critics’ consensus reads: “While *Christy* falters in tonal cohesion and emotional impact, it remains a compelling showcase for Sydney Sweeney’s transformative performance, grounding a mythic genre in raw, personal storytelling.”

Sweeney played the title role of Christy Martin, a professional boxer whose story includes not only a trailblazing athletic career but also a brutal episode of domestic violence at the hands of her husband. The film seeks to raise awareness about abuse and portray Martin’s survival and comeback as a core part of her legacy.

Still, some reviewers argue that the film’s impact begins and ends with Sweeney’s performance alone. While she has received praise for her physical transformation and commitment to the role, and some critics have called the film “compelling,” others contend that it lacks the depth needed to fully support what Sweeney was trying to achieve.

The low turnout at the box office is expected to pose a hurdle in Sweeney’s push for major awards recognition. However, her name has already entered the conversation for a potential Oscar nomination for Best Actress ahead of the 2026 ceremony. With a crowded field of contenders starring in better-received films, her chances remain uncertain but promising.

Bo Bichette Projected to Sign $208M Contract with Blue Jays’ AL Rival

Bo Bichette was going to get paid either way, but the World Series certainly didn’t hurt his stock. After hitting .348 in seven games despite missing six weeks of action—and crushing a three-run home run against Shohei Ohtani in Game 7 of the World Series—Bichette has officially departed the Toronto Blue Jays for now.

With legitimate questions about his defensive position and the Blue Jays’ pressing need for starting pitching, it’s no guarantee he will return. For as often as Bichette has professed his desire to remain in Toronto, could there be other teams that show more willingness to bid into the $200 million range? The Blue Jays have a deep lineup beyond Bichette, but it remains to be seen if that translates into competitive offers.

Just Baseball’s Ryan Finkelstein thinks the two-time All-Star is bound to wind up with an American League rival. In an article published on Friday, Finkelstein projected an eight-year, $208 million contract for Bichette, with the shortstop landing with the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers had some of the worst infield production of any team in the sport this year, especially among playoff contenders.

“The Tigers currently feature the top prospect in all of baseball, shortstop Kevin McGonigle. There is every chance McGonigle is ready for Opening Day, which could make things a bit complicated if Bichette is unwilling to move off shortstop,” Finkelstein wrote. “Regardless, Bichette could be the missing piece that unlocks a contender that can win it all with Tarik Skubal in 2026.

“Since Bichette is 18 months younger than San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames was when he hit free agency, it is fair to expect he could receive at least one more year on his deal. An eight-year deal at $26 million per year brings us to $208 million.”

The Blue Jays’ projected tax payroll for next season sits at just under $242 million when accounting for arbitration salaries, according to Spotrac. That’s already the fifth-highest in the sport, and Toronto is expected to pursue starting pitching in free agency—seeing as it’s likely unwise to count on rookie Trey Yesavage to be a No. 2 starter over the course of a full season.

But does this payroll situation mean Toronto isn’t willing to go over $200 million to keep Bichette? Or does it mean Detroit is ready to make a bigger commitment? It’s certainly too early to know. The fact that the Blue Jays have handed out bigger contracts than Detroit in recent years might give Toronto fans some confidence moving forward.
