Movie Review: ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’ brings back the magic with new faces and tricks

Ten years or so between installments of a successful Hollywood franchise is a lifetime. When it comes to the third “Now You See Me” movie poof! time doesn’t matter. These magicians still got it. “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” does what sequels apparently must do these days load up the characters, return to favorite bits and go global but nails the trick, a crowd-pleasing return that already has a fourth in the works. “It is very good to be back,” says Jesse Eisenberg as the egotistical, perfectionist J. Daniel Atlas, the brains behind the magician-robber outfit. It’s hard to argue with that sentiment on the strength of this outing, directed with assurance by Ruben Fleischer. “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” acts as a sort of pivot, bringing back the veterans all of them, in various forms as well as introducing three Gen Z eat-the-rich magicians played by Dominic Sessa, Justice Smith and Ariana Greenblatt. They’re clearly the future. It’s in good (sleight of) hands. The movie starts off with a clever rip-off of nasty crypto bros in Brooklyn and expands to scenes in Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, France and South Africa. It’s got Nazis, “Harry Potter” vibes and some Louvre museum heist energy. We didn’t need the F1 chase through Abu Dhabi, but no one’s complaining. The original Four Horsemen Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Isla Fisher are supplemented by Lizzy Caplan, who had replaced Fisher in the second installment. Morgan Freeman returns as the gravel-voiced mentor. The prize at the movie’s heart is a diamond but no mere bauble. It’s the Heart Diamond, the largest ever discovered, with a price tag of half a billion dollars. It’s the size of a smoked turkey leg. The diamond is owned by a particularly vile South African diamond mine scion who uses her ultra-wealth to launder money for warlords and arms dealers. She is played deliciously by Rosamund Pike with a snide disdain and a nifty Afrikaner accent. The secretive magic society known as The Eye unites the old Horsemen and the new trio (the Three Ponies?) to steal the diamond, stored in one of those multilevel, biometric “Mission: Impossible”-style bunkers. Capturing it won’t enhance their bank statements. Remember, they’re all really anti-capitalist, share-the-wealth magicians most likely democratic socialists, in vogue right now. “This is a chance to drive a stake through the devil herself,” Eisenberg’s character says. Hollywood is funny that way, creating a multimillion-dollar franchise on the back of heroic left-wing activist characters and convincing the UAE to set it on their streets. At first, it’s hard, with eight heroes rushing around, to figure out the primary dynamics. The older Horsemen are strangely muted here except for Caplan, a hoot and the young need some seasoning. Intergenerational bickering keeps the movie alive. There’s a quick stop at a French chateau where some real magic takes place, literally. The last two “Now You See Me” installments got very green-screen and CGI when it came to effects, but the third very refreshingly steps back into old-fashioned trickery. In a single take, we see each of the heroes try to top the others with a card trick, misdirection or illusion. There’s also a hall of mirrors, an upside-down room, an infinity staircase, a perspective-warping room and a nifty escape from a chamber filling with sand. Kudos to the filmmakers for embracing physical tricks over digital trickery. Also, cute use of Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.” All this leads to a huge showdown between the diamond princess and our motley magicians. You won’t guess who’s been pulling the strings all this time. Seriously, you won’t. And a new generation of magician-thieves are minted. That was a hard trick to pull off. “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” a Lionsgate release in theaters Friday, is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association for some strong language, violence and suggestive references. Running time: 112 minutes. Three stars out of four.

6 Aggressive Traits That Masquerade as Confidence

Confidence signals steadiness, clarity, and grounded self-control. Yet people often mistake aggressive traits for the same quality. The overlap creates confusion, especially in workplaces and relationships where calm authority and hostility sometimes look similar from a distance. Aggressive traits slip through because they can mimic certainty, even when the behavior undermines trust. Understanding how these […] The post 6 Aggressive Traits That Masquerade as Confidence appeared first on Clever Dude Personal Finance & Money.

Wild Theories Swirl in Celeste Rivas’ Death as Cannibalism Claims Surge Over D4vd’s ‘Sadistic Plans’

The death of teen Celeste Rivas has unleashed a tidal wave of online theories after investigators revealed that her body had been dismembered, decapitated and partially frozen before being found inside the frunk of a Tesla connected to singer D4vd. The Shocking Condition of Celeste’s Body The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner received Celeste’s remains in what sources described as a horrendous condition. Her torso was intact but her limbs had been removed and cut into several pieces. Her head had been severed, and parts of the body were still partially frozen when recovered. The discovery inside a Tesla registered to D4vd immediately propelled the case into national attention. Due to the state of the body, officials believe the cause of death will likely be recorded as undetermined. The extent of dismemberment and freezing made it difficult for investigators to even confirm the sex of the remains at first. Still, the Robbery Homicide Division continues to pursue the case as a homicide. The detail that Celeste’s body had been frozen became a turning point in public speculation. It opened the door to several grim theories about motive, method and timeline, many of which began circulating across social platforms within hours. Theories Fuelled by Talk of Disturbing Plans Speculation intensified after a private investigator linked to a property owner allegedly said there had been ‘plans about how to get rid of Celeste’ and described these as ‘scary and sadistic’. He added that the plans would ‘blow your mind’, a statement that triggered waves of theorising about what those plans could have involved. A circulating explanation offered three possible motives for long term body freezing: concealment, slowing decomposition or preservation for cannibalism. While investigators have not linked the case to serial killer behaviour, the presence of a freezer and evidence of significant dismemberment pushed users to consider darker possibilities. The extreme nature of the injuries also raised questions about intent. Some observers pointed out that decapitation was not necessary to fit her into the Tesla frunk, suggesting a level of brutality or specific motive that went beyond simple disposal. Internet Sleuths Add Fuel With Viral Comments Online speculation has been relentless, with users adding their own theories in real time. One wrote: ‘As gruesome as it sounds. maybe they decapitated to fit her in the deep freezer.’ Another, commenting on the timeline, said: ‘Guesses: Cut up to fit in the freezer and to transport the body wherever he needed to take it. Did not he move his residence? I thought he moved to the mansion in 2025. So wonder if he had to put the body in the frunk because it had to be cleared out of the prior place. I think he had help from someone who did not know what he was moving around, an unwitting accomplice, who has distanced himself now that he knows the details’. Other users believe the dismemberment pattern indicates multiple attempts to store or transport the body, while some argue the severity of the condition reflects panic, rage or premeditated mutilation. Every new report has added a fresh layer of theorising. D4vd remains at the centre of public conversation simply because the car belonged to him, although police have not confirmed him as a suspect. The lack of official clarification has allowed speculation to spread unchecked, with users connecting fragments of information to build their own narratives. Investigators Brace for a Challenging Case Police are now working with limited physical evidence due to the advanced decomposition and freezing. Detectives will rely heavily on digital footprints, movement records and any individuals linked to the vehicle. The combination of mutilation, freezing and the unclear timeline makes this one of the most complex cases investigators have faced in recent months. The shocking combination of freezing, mutilation and claims of disturbing plans has created one of the most intense speculation storms the case has seen, with social media users filling investigative gaps with their own chilling interpretations. For now, the truth of what happened to Celeste remains obscured by the brutality of her death and the silence of those who may know more.

Orchard Lake council seat election hinged on a coin toss

Sean O’Bryan was unlucky in his first political campaign for Orchard Lake city council. Tied with one of two opponents for the seat, his bid ended with an historic tie-breaking coin toss.. “I had this overwhelming feeling of joy for the whole process,” he said. “Although I didn’t win, I’m extremely grateful.” O’Bryan, 38, campaigned for one of two council seats, along with incumbent Kevin Kroger and former councilwoman DuAnne Sonneville. Unofficial election results after the polls closed on Nov. 4 showed Kroger received 314 votes and Sonneville finished second with 238 votes, ahead of O’Bryan’s 235. When the county’s bipartisan board of canvassers met on Nov. 5 to certify results votes from the single precinct, votes from mailed-in ballots and validated write-in votes, both Sonneville and O’Bryan were tied with 239 votes each. “This was the only known election tie in the history of Orchard Lake,” said Sonneville, 77, who served two three-year terms on the council before she was term-limited and had to wait for another run at a non-partisan council seat. She is also a volunteer for the Greater West Bloomfield Historical Society. County election officials rarely see tie votes. In 1955, the state standardized how tied elections are decided: • A coin toss determines which candidate is the first to draw a folded piece of paper from a closed cardboard box. • Candidates wait for the county clerk’s permission to open their papers simultaneously to see if the message inside says “elected” or “not elected.” According to the 2010 Census, Orchard Lake Village has an estimated 2, 375 residents in 802 households. Sonneville, O’Bryan and Kroger stood together on election day greeting voters at the city hall voting precinct. One voter asked the three candidates who won the 2020 presidential election, Sonneville said. “If you have any doubts about elections, do the poll worker training,” she replied. “I worked elections for years. Michigan has backups on its backups.” O’Bryan called the experience “very refreshing, politically speaking. We all got along great. We greeted the voters as a unit rather than shouldering each other out of the way,” After the polls closed, the three sat together inside city hall to await results. Sonneville said she wasn’t worried about who won because each candidate wanted to help the city. “I spent all day with Sean and found him to be a very good candidate,” she said. “I thought if I didn’t win it was fine, because at least we’ll be sure that someone got elected who cares about the city.” They appeared at the tiebreaking event at the county clerk’s Pontiac office with family in tow. County election officials and some city officials were also there. County Clerk Lisa Brown read the 1955 state statute aloud to those assembled and said it was too late for either candidate to withdraw or concede. “They showed us a quarter and randomly assigned me ‘tails’ and Sean ‘heads,’” Sonneville said, adding that Brown folded the papers in an identical shape and put them in the box held by Joe Rozell, the county’s director of elections. After the candidates selected and unfolded their papers, onlookers clapped and O’Bryan shook Sonneville’s hand. “Constituents know we’ve been elected to serve them,” Sonneville said. “We’ve been lucky to get good candidates who have always stepped up.” After posing for photos and accepting an election certificate from Brown, Sonneville asked O’Bryan if he would join her in donating their unfolded papers to the Orchard Lake Museum. He agreed. “I wish we’d asked the county for the quarter,” he told The Oakland Press. Sonneville is glad the election is getting some attention. “It’s a good lesson that every vote counts,” she said. O’Bryan said the election was handled by City Clerk/Treasurer Nancy Morogi and staff “with absolute transparency and professionalism” and Brown and Rozell handled the tiebreaking procedure “in a very fair, transparent and efficient way.” O’Bryan plans to run for office again and appreciated the community’s support at the polls. But for the next few months, he’ll concentrate on opening his law office in Waterford Township. Sonneville said she would attend council meetings even if she hadn’t won the election, because it’s a way to give back to the community. “It doesn’t matter which side of the desk I’m on, this is my community,” she said. “I’ve never turned into my subdivision without thinking how lucky I am to live here.”.

White House Scraps DOGE: The Bizarre Subscriptions and Weird Overseas Contracts Draining Public Funds

The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, launched with fanfare as a flagship initiative of Donald Trump’s second term, has quietly been disbanded, eight months before its scheduled end. Meant to streamline federal agencies and cut waste, DOGE instead became synonymous with confusion, strange overseas contracts, and massive public spending that delivered little measurable savings. DOGE’s Short-Lived Ambitions and Rapid Rise Created in January, DOGE made a dramatic entrance into Washington with a promise to shrink federal agencies and redirect resources toward Trump priorities. It gained early attention for aggressive budget cuts, sudden layoffs, and the unusual spectacle of staff sleeping at headquarters to execute the mandate. Despite the publicity, the Office of Personnel Management has since absorbed many of DOGE’s functions. Scott Kupor, OPM Director, confirmed the department no longer exists as a centralised entity. Documents reviewed by Reuters indicate that at least two DOGE employees moved to the newly established National Design Studio, an office tasked with redesigning federal websites under the leadership of Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia. Former DOGE staffers reportedly feared legal repercussions from the abrupt job cuts and radical reforms, further clouding the agency’s legacy. By May, over 200, 000 federal workers had been laid off or taken buyouts, with claims of billions in supposed savings remaining unverified due to a lack of transparent accounting. Questionable Contracts and Overseas Spending DOGE’s termination also revealed some puzzling contract choices. In a recent tweet, the department announced that nine days of audits had resulted in 78 terminated or descoped contracts with a ceiling value of £1. 6 billion ($1. 9 billion), claiming £283 million ($335 million) in savings. Among the contracts cut were a £508, 000 ($616,000) HHS IT subscription for social media monitoring, a £158, 000 ($191, 000) USAGM broadcasting deal for operations in Ethiopia, and a £3. 6 million ($4. 3 million) IRS IT project to support Inflation Reduction Act transformation. Many observers questioned the purpose of these contracts in the first place and why taxpayer dollars were committed without public oversight. Additionally, the Trump administration confirmed that millions of taxpayer dollars had been used to fund subscriptions to media outlets such as Politico. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, ‘The more than eight million taxpayer dollars that have gone to essentially subsidising subscriptions to Politico on the American taxpayer’s dime will no longer be happening.’ Conservative circles immediately seized on these revelations, digging through USAspending. gov for further examples of government-paid media subscriptions. Media Reactions and Public Backlash The programme attracted widespread criticism for targeting government transparency. Elon Musk, who once lauded the department, described DOGE as ‘transparent’ despite reports that agents often refused to identify themselves and slashed agency budgets without consultation. Analysts highlighted that the costs of operating DOGE, combined with its questionable contracts, far outweighed any purported savings. Some estimates suggest hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars were impacted, while certain essential government services and public health initiatives were disrupted. Former employees and insiders suggested Musk later regretted some of the decisions, attributing mismanagement to the chaotic environment and high-stakes political pressure. The Legacy of DOGE and the Road Ahead With DOGE now officially disbanded, the Department of Government Efficiency will be remembered more for its bewildering mix of bizarre subscriptions, overseas contracts, and controversial job cuts than for delivering any meaningful cost reductions. Questions remain about who authorised the original £1. 6 billion ($1. 9 billion) expenditure and whether accountability measures will ever be implemented. As OPM takes over remaining functions, Washington faces the challenge of reconciling the disruption left in DOGE’s wake. The episode is a reminder that efficiency is not simply a policy goal; it is a meticulous, fully accountable process. Otherwise, even well-intentioned reforms can spiral into expensive, chaotic, and controversial initiatives.

PM’s Secretariat clarifies questions on appointments by chief personal secretary

Kathmandu, Nov 24: Following questions about Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s Chief Personal Secretary, Adarsha Shrestha, the PM’s secretariat issued a clarification. The statement came after public concerns that the Chief Personal Secretary had recruited relatives in the Prime Minister’s office. The secretariat explained that the Prime Minister appoints the Chief Personal Secretary, who in turn can hire other staff under the PM’s guidance. All appointments, they said, followed this procedure. The clarification noted that the secretariat operates with fewer staff than authorized to reduce the burden on the state treasury. It also emphasized that PM Karki has only her husband as family, and due to her age, she selected a trusted person capable of providing close, around-the-clock support. The statement requested that questions should focus on legally justified appointments, not assumptions. It added that linking the Chief Personal Secretary to nepotism or claiming family ties based on surname or ethnicity is incorrect. According to the secretariat, although the office is authorized to have seven advisors, only two are currently appointed. Of 19 expert staff positions, only four are filled, one of whom is unpaid. The personal secretariat has 41 sanctioned posts, but only 14 are currently active. Overall, 20 people are currently working in the Prime Minister’s secretariat. People’s News Monitoring Service.

SIVGA Robin SV021 Wired Headphones Review

I’ve been fascinated with headphones from an early age. My dad was a broadcast journalist and a real geek, filling our house with space-age tech like reel-to-reel players, condenser microphones, and CB radios. Most important, though, were the headphones. Huge, unwieldy things for my tiny head, they still opened my eyes and ears to just how good music could sound, and that fascination has stayed with me ever since. So my interest was piqued by SIVGA’s latest, the Robin SV021, a closed-back, wired audiophile pair of over-ear headphones, which boast earcups crafted from wood. While they look genuinely beautiful, the sound they produce is even better. Each of the Robin SV021’s earcups are handmade from Rosewood. If you want a pair of headphones that’s immediately different from the metal and black plastic-toting ones elsewhere, it’s a great place to start. Imprinted with the SIVGA logo, the external surface is perfectly smooth, and the wood carries a warmth and softness that plastic and metal simply can’t. I did worry about their durability, but after cramming the Robin into my bag on more than one occasion, they remained unblemished. Elsewhere, the headband is wrapped in leather, with a thin slice of memory foam beneath it, while the frame, extenders and hinges are made from rigid, burnished metal. It’s all finished off by a pair of the plushest, softest ear cushions I’ve come across in a while, and they feel absolutely fantastic, moulding around your ears and providing a decent level of passive noise cancellation as well. The Robin SV021 look and feel utterly premium, and they definitely punch above their £150 price point. Audio is handled by dual wiring to each earcup, with the two ends of the braided cable leading down to a single gold-plated 3. 5mm jack. While the braided section is noise-free, the single cabling to each earcup will produce cable noise if rubbing against clothing, which does make it less appealing for listening while on the go. That’s not its main draw, though. The Robin SV021 are reassuringly universal, and I’ve spent my time hopping between a MacBook, Nintendo Switch 2 and my PC. It has a relatively low impedance at 32 Ohms, and it performed well with every device I tried, with plenty of volume while retaining an excellent level of detail. The SIVGA Robin SV021 sound excellent. The 50mm drivers are capable of moving plenty of air around, and there’s a wonderfully wide soundstage here, giving instrumentation and audio some real room to breathe. I’ve been playing a huge amount of Octopath Traveler 0 on its way to review, and the orchestral soundtrack has been delivered exquisitely by the Robin SV021, with that wider soundstage making it feel as though you’re experiencing a live recording. They’re absolutely perfect for gaming, thanks to their lightweight design and ultra-soft ear cushions. I was able to wear them for hours, and they may well be the most comfortable headphones I’ve reviewed this year. Checking in with my music collection, I loved how enveloping Gunship’s Tech Noir sounded, with the throbbing synth tones delivered with an exacting level of detail. The intro’s sci-fi spoken word sits clearly apart from the ominous notes beneath, while the bass response is excellent, with plenty of warmth and clarity. The Robin SV021 are certainly warmer-sounding rather than clinical, and they’re easy to live with across a range of different genres and content types. Crucially, they make you want to listen to music. At £150, the Robin SV021 are aimed at the mid-range audiophile who’s looking for something a little different. Despite their closed-back design, they boast a wide soundstage, and their well-balanced tuning provides a hugely enjoyable listening experience no matter what you’re using them for.

Ozak AI’s Growth Rate Suggests It Could Achieve Unprecedented Market Penetration Within the Next 24 Months

The presale token Ozak AI (Z) is currently priced at $0. 014 and has sold over 1 billion tokens so far. Already, it is showing strong presale momentum, as it is moving closer to its listing. Apart from its token growth, its AI-powered infrastructure for predictive insights with a decentralized ecosystem uniquely positions it to attract both retail and institutional interest, offering early investors a quantifiable opportunity for substantial returns as adoption scales. With that, analysts note that this huge presale growth rate with innovative tech makes Ozak AI poised for broader market penetration within 24 months. Ozak AI Presale Performance Highlights The token presale started earlier this year with phase 1 at $0. 001, then moved to $0. 002, $0. 003, $0. 005, and $0. 012, and is now priced at $0. 014, which is Phase 7. Early adopters are already reaping up to 14 times earnings. As a result, presale funding is increasing on a daily basis and now stands at $4. 48 million following the sale of 1 billion tokens. Ozak AI’s estimated $1 listing could result in 7, 042. 86% returns for Phase 7 investors and up to 99, 900% for Phase 1 investors.
