The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft, the 47-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said he would have “no issue” with US President Donald Trump addressing the Dáil when he visits Ireland.

Speaking in New York during his visit for the UN General Assembly, Mr Martin stated that “personally” he would have no objection to Mr Trump addressing the Dáil.

It is not the occasion it once was, that would be a concern of mine. There has to be common sense in how these things are handled at parliamentary level but that’s a matter for the Ceann Comhairle.”
