John Podesta planned civil war if Biden lost in 2020. The plan was postponed for four years when the Democrats managed to steal the 2020 election. In the meantime, they made a predictive-programming movie about a civil war to prepare their minions for what to do when the time came. In Podesta’s plan and in the movie, Left-coast states form a “Western Alliance,” secede from the Union and eventually assassinate the President. Lo-and-behold, California, Oregon and Washington have formed an alliance to “cow” the President. The Western States Can COW the President California announces coalition of Governors forming new alliance to protect public health from political interference And when Gavin Newsom bragged about forming the alliance on Steven Colbert’s show, the minions cheered because they were in on the plan. Gav while touting Democrats’ support for international climate agreements, vaccine access and opposition to mass deportations. He highlighted California’s partnership with nearby states to counter what he’s called the politicization of the CDC and vaccine guidelines under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

48 first-half points lift St. John’s Prep back to Gillette

BURLINGTON Different opponent. Different venue. Same dominance. After St. John’s Prep running back Maxwell Parent rushed for 355 yards and five touchdowns against Leominster last week, he followed with another two scores as the top-ranked Eagles (11-0) handled No. 5 Central Catholic (7-4) 48-7 in Friday’s Division 1 state semifinal at Burlington High. In the blink of an eye, this one was 16-0 after one quarter. Parent, a St. Mary’s transfer, collected both touchdowns. The second quarter continued the scoring party as Jordan Toribio raced 80-plus yards down the left sideline (24-0). From there, quarterback John Budrow filling in for nationally-recruited gunslinger Chris Vargas (out with an injury) connected with Ethan Stefanovich for an 83-yard touchdown (32-0). Add two more scores from Toribio and Riley Selvais (from Budrow), and the only thing that stopped Prep’s onslaught was the halftime break (48-0). The Eagles helmed by coach Brian St. Pierre have defeated No. 16 Framingham (38-0 final), No. 8 Leominster (48-32), and now No. 5 Central Catholic (48-7) in their tournament run. That’s 134 points scored across three games, with just 39 allowed. Now, the waiting game for which team St. John’s Prep will battle at Gillette Stadium for all the marbles. No. 2 Springfield Central and No. 3 Xaverian Brothers square off Saturday at Milford High with kickoff slated for noon.

Why gardening mishaps are a (sometimes painful) part of the process

By Jessica Damiano | The Associated Press I’ll be the first to admit there have been a few frights in my garden over the years, starting with the English ivy and pea-gravel mulch I inherited when I moved into the house and ending with the mint I foolishly planted directly in the ground many years ago, when I didn’t realize it would still be around to haunt me today. Did I say “ending with?” Who am I kidding? I’m still causing all sorts of mayhem in my beds and borders. Recently, I had to hire a landscaper to remove the creeping Liriope I mistook for the clumping type. The poor guy toiled with a pickaxe for more than three hours. I’m just glad he didn’t come after me with it. In the process, I lost many of the weedy groundcover’s mature perennial and bulb neighbors, and it will be years before the new plantings mature and the border returns to its former abundant glory. Plenty of blame Some ghastly garden scenarios, like my mint mishap, are clearly our own fault, but the blame for others can fall squarely on outsiders, like the nurseries that mislabel plants or the squirrels that “plant” invasive species among our natives. Either way, the cleanup falls to us. Nobody knows this better than John and Mary Richardson of Port Jefferson Station, New York, who wrote to tell me about that one time they were advised to apply cayenne pepper around their vegetable plants to repel the critters that were wreaking havoc on their harvests. “We happily and liberally sprinkled it in every bed in the garden,” they told me, adding that they took care to repeat the application after every rainfall to ensure “the protection would continue.” Before long, the couple said, pepper plants were taking over all their vegetable and flower beds. “It had never occurred to us to use ground cayenne and not pepper flakes, which are seeds,” they admitted. Speaking of seeds reminds me of a tale recounted years ago by a reader who was perplexed by the weekly disappearances of tomatoes from his vines. After checking to assess the ripeness of one particularly plump heirloom beauty, he decided to hold off on harvesting for one more day, when he planned to enjoy a tomato-sandwich lunch. But when the salivating sower went out to pick it, that tomato, too, was nowhere to be found. It was lawn-mowing day, he said, and it didn’t take long for him to discover “the landscapers had tomato seeds in their teeth.” I also once heard from a desperate reader who was battling the running bamboo that had been planted by his next-door neighbor. The viciously invasive, iron-rooted plant had grown under the fence dividing their properties and was poking up through his swimming pool liner. I wonder if he had to move. ‘The ultimate rookie mistake’ Then there’s Alyssa Sirek from Granbury, Texas: “With years of horticulture experience, I made the ultimate rookie mistake,” she admitted. “I put a bird feeder directly over our freshly landscaped rockscape and forgot that bird seed is, in fact, seed. “Between the birds flinging seeds like confetti and a few solid Texas rainstorms, our clean rockscape transformed into accidental chaos,” she said. Committed to avoiding pesticides, Sirek spent hours “hand-pulling surprise sprouts, collecting ant bites, knee scrapes, and a bruised ego along the way.” Months later, she said, stray seedlings still pop up from time to time, particularly after storms. Hoping for a fun project to do with her kids, she ordered ladybug larvae by mail. “I released them onto my zucchini plants, later to find out they were actually squash beetles,” she said. “They decimated all of my plants.” And sometimes, it comes with the job. Alice Raimondo says she sees a lot of strange things working as a horticultural lab coordinator at the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s diagnostic clinic in Riverhead, New York, where homeowners bring diseased plants and creepy insects for identification. Once, a woman brought in a wreath she was making out of cones that she’d collected, Raimondo remembers. “She liked the way the cones looked, but after working with a few of them, (she noticed) they wriggled,” she said. “Turns out, they were bagworms,” destructive pests that wrap themselves in “bags” that they construct from leaves and other plant parts. The woman “was pretty grossed out,” Raimondo said. As these brave gardeners can attest, one simple mistake can turn into a gruesome cautionary tale. ___ Jessica Damiano writes weekly gardening columns for the AP and publishes the award-winning Weekly Dirt Newsletter.

John McEnroe’s son Kevin reveals his father’s incredibly touching gesture towards ex-wife Tatum O’Neal at his wedding despite their bitter divorce

**Kevin McEnroe Recalls Touching Moment with Father John McEnroe and Mother Tatum O’Neal at His Wedding**

Kevin McEnroe, son of tennis legend John McEnroe, recently shared a heartfelt memory from his wedding day that left a lasting impression on him. The exchange involved his mother, actress Tatum O’Neal, and his father, the former tennis star.

John McEnroe and Tatum O’Neal married in 1986 but separated six years later. They eventually divorced in 1994 and had three children together, with Kevin being the eldest. Recently, Kevin, who is an author, reflected on a special moment during his wedding in an article published on his Substack.

During the wedding, both divorced parents were present. Initially, it was planned for Kevin’s mother, Tatum O’Neal, to sit alongside his wife’s family, a decision intended to keep the peace on the special day. However, Kevin revealed that his father dismissed this arrangement.

Kevin recounted the moment:
“When we were getting married my mother was going to sit on my wife’s family’s side. We thought this would create less problems. My dad saw this, and he told me he thought she should sit with them.
‘I think she should sit with us,’ he said.
‘I don’t know, Dad. I mean, it’s okay, you know? I—’
‘She’s gonna sit with us, Kev,’ and he nodded at me, and I knew what was right.”

The emotional significance of his father’s words moved Kevin deeply. He explained, “It moved me to no end that’s family. I’m sorry it took me so long to appreciate it the way I should’ve. I’m sorry I wasn’t always there.”

### John McEnroe Opens Up About His “Difficult Divorce”

In a candid 2022 interview with the Australian TV program *Sunrise*, not long after the release of his biopic, John McEnroe briefly discussed the end of his marriage to Tatum O’Neal. He spoke about how he moved forward from the divorce and found happiness again.

“I went through a difficult divorce and then [was] able to come out the other side and get a second chance. I think a lot of people relate to that also,” McEnroe shared.

McEnroe was granted custody of all three children from his marriage to O’Neal due to her struggles with addiction. Today, the American tennis legend, a former World No. 1 and seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, is happily married to Patty Smyth. The couple has three daughters together.

This touching story highlights the strength of family bonds and the ability to find peace and unity even after challenging circumstances.

In a Desperate Move, Virginia’s John Reid Debates AI Opponent

John Reid, a gay Republican radio host running for Virginia lieutenant governor, posted a 40-minute video of himself debating an AI-generated version of his Democratic opponent after she declined repeated debate requests.

The attention-grabbing video, posted to Reid’s YouTube channel, shows him standing behind a podium as if at a formal debate, facing what his campaign claims is an AI-generated version of State Sen. Ghazala Hashmi (D-Richmond). This AI was programmed with her policy positions and a robotic approximation of her voice. Reid’s campaign insists he didn’t see the debate questions in advance. Even the moderator, they said, was a computer program.

The campaign told The Washington Post they turned to the AI debate after Hashmi repeatedly declined to face him. The event was live-streamed to a few hundred viewers on Reid’s YouTube channel earlier this week and remains publicly available.

Noah Jennings, Reid’s campaign manager, said the team aimed to simulate a real debate that was “fair and accurate to [Hashmi], not campy or overdramatic.” He added that they would have preferred a real debate to what he called a gimmick.

There have been no forums or formal debates in the lieutenant governor’s race this cycle, unlike four years ago when Winsome Earle-Sears defeated Democrat Hala Ayala amid Glenn Youngkin’s sweeping gubernatorial win.

Hashmi’s campaign dismissed the stunt, telling Axios the senator never granted permission for her likeness to be used. “John Reid’s failed use of deepfakes is a desperate move straight out of Donald Trump’s playbook,” Hashmi campaign spokesperson Ava Pitruzzello said in a statement.

“While we appreciate that AI Ghazala did share her vision, like her commitment to public education and reproductive rights, it’s pretty clear Reid only cares about shoddy gimmicks and not governing. Maybe he should focus on voters instead of videos. And hasn’t he gotten in enough trouble online already?” Pitruzzello added, referencing the myriad controversies over Reid’s Tumblr account.

On X, the Democratic Party of Virginia shared screenshots of AI Hashmi’s responses that they said cast both her and the party in a positive light. “Tonight we congratulate @SenatorHashmi for winning @JohnReid4VA’s fake debate and thank John Reid for sharing Ghazala’s winning message,” the party wrote.

Hashmi’s campaign has aired two television ads, compared to none from Reid, whose team has instead released web spots on YouTube that have circulated on social media. According to the Virginia Public Access Project, Hashmi has raised more than five times Reid’s total and, as of September, held nearly ten times more cash on hand.

Despite Hashmi’s financial advantage and the Tumblr controversies that could have derailed him, the gay Republican appears largely unfazed and is running a credible, competitive campaign.

A recent Washington Post-Schar School poll showed Hashmi leading Reid by 4%, which falls within the margin of error, while a VCU Wilder School poll found them essentially tied, 44% to 43%.

Reid’s AI debate may have been born of frustration, but it perfectly captures a campaign season where technology keeps blurring the line between strategy and spectacle. Voters will decide whether it reads as clever innovation or pure desperation.
