HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (AP) — Jalen Speer led Marshall with 26 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists as the Thundering Herd defeated Georgia State 84-80 on Wednesday.

Wyatt Fricks contributed 21 points, shooting 7 for 11 from the field, including 1 for 5 from three-point range, and made 6 of 8 free throws. Fricks also added six rebounds and three blocks to his stat line.

Landen Joseph scored 10 points for Marshall, hitting 4 of 8 shots and 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. The Thundering Herd improved to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
