Speaking at the IADR Asia Pacific Regional & 35th ISDR Annual Conference 2025, Dr. Narayanan elaborated on ISRO’s advancements in the field of space. As Chairman of the Space Commission and Secretary of the Department of Space (ISRO), he highlighted India’s rise on the global stage and the importance of scientific convergence.

“India has put itself firmly on the global map. Chandrayaan made us the only country to achieve a successful soft landing. Engineering and medicine cannot remain apart,” he said. “Nanotechnology, AI, and robotics are transforming healthcare as much as they are shaping space exploration,” he added.

The noted cryogenic engineer and rocket scientist also shared a personal insight about his hobby of reading medical books. He emphasized the value of collaboration between ISRO and medical institutes to drive innovation forward. “Reading medical books has always been my hobby, and I strongly believe that collaboration between ISRO and medical institutes will take innovation further,” Narayanan said.

He further lauded medical science for increasing human longevity. “Today, India’s literacy has reached 79 per cent, and the average healthy lifespan of Indians has increased because of medical progress. We have made significant advances across all fields,” he added.

At the event, Prof. Abhijat Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission, stressed the need to strengthen the foundations of medical education. “Two critical areas often overlooked in medical training are clinical research and communication. These must be made an integral part of the basic curriculum,” Sheth stated. “Embedding them early will help nurture a culture of research, innovation, and discovery,” he added.

The three-day conclave attracted more than 600 delegates, including 150 international participants from 20 countries.

Indore: SAF Constable Bitten By Snake At The Battalion, Dies

**Tragic Death of Constable Santosh Choudhary After Snake Bite in Indore**

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a tragic incident, Constable Santosh Choudhary, posted in the 1st Battalion of the Special Armed Force (SAF) in the Sadar Bazar area, lost his life after being bitten by a snake on Saturday, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred around 10 pm at the battalion premises. According to the police, Constable Choudhary was informed about the presence of a snake and rushed to the spot. Having experience in catching snakes and having done so several times before, he was called upon to handle the situation.

However, this time, while trying to catch the snake hidden in a window, the snake bit him on his right hand. His colleagues immediately took him to the hospital, where he was administered an anti-venom injection. Unfortunately, the venom spread quickly, and despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.

Santosh Choudhary had been serving in the police force for 17 years. He is survived by his wife and two children.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing Santosh attempting to catch the snake, the snake hissing, and then suddenly striking him. The footage highlights both the danger involved and his bravery in handling the situation.

In light of his sacrifice, it has been recommended that Santosh be honoured as a martyr. The Commandant of the First Battalion praised him as a dedicated officer and an expert in handling snakes, assuring full support to his family during this difficult time.

Following the incident, a search operation was conducted in the stable area to ensure safety from any remaining snakes.

He further warned that if immediate action, including the suspension of the dean and superintendent, is not taken, the lives of infants will continue to remain at risk. “This movement is not just about seeking justice but also about fixing accountability in the healthcare system,” Mujalda added.

To address the protest, dean Dr. Arvind Ghanghoria and SDM Pradeep Soni arrived at the hospital to calm down the demonstrators. However, JAYS workers asserted that their phased agitation would continue until their demands are fulfilled.

The incident has raised serious concerns about hospital safety standards and administrative responsibility in safeguarding vulnerable patients, especially newborns. The community awaits swift action to prevent such incidents in the future.

Patient Crushed By Surgeon’s Vehicle, Dies In MP’s Neemuch

**Patient Killed After Being Run Over by Civil Surgeon’s Car at Neemuch District Hospital**

Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident occurred at Neemuch District Hospital on Friday afternoon when a patient seeking treatment was fatally struck by a civil surgeon’s official vehicle.

The victim, identified as Raju (45) from Rampura, had visited the hospital to receive medical care. After being given his prescription, he reportedly felt dizzy and decided to lie down near the hospital gate. Moments later, he was hit by the civil surgeon Dr. Mahendra Patil’s car (vehicle number MP13 ZV 4590) inside the hospital premises.

According to reports, the vehicle was driven by the surgeon’s driver and allegedly went out of control. Despite receiving immediate medical attention at the hospital, Raju could not be saved.

The incident ignited chaos and outrage within the hospital. Bhim Army district president, along with the victim’s family, staged a protest on the hospital grounds, demanding strict action and the registration of an FIR. Protesters also voiced concerns over patient safety within the hospital campus.

Cantonment police station in-charge Pushpa Chauhan confirmed the accident, stating that the vehicle belonged to the Civil Surgeon and was being driven by his driver at the time of the incident. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigations are currently underway.
