Co-op horror games are taking over, so here are the best ones to celebrate 2025’s spookiest day

Co-op Horror Games Are Taking Over: The Best Ones to Celebrate 2025’s Spookiest Day

Halloween is almost here, and so are countless co-op horror games that have collectively earned a specific moniker revolving around the word “friend.”

And be the sentiment around them as it may, I still find them incredibly fun to play, especially when it comes to gathering the squad for some late-night gaming. Of course, you could just all fire up CS2, but instead of losing your mind playing to get an imaginary number 400 points higher, you have the option to get scared s**tless—and I think that’s quite better.

So, I’ve gathered four recent co-op horror games and one classic that can and will make your 2025 Halloween night much more exciting.

Misery

Misery sure does love company.
Image via Platypus Entertainment

Having released just a few days prior to this article, Misery places you in the midst of a mysterious Zone, itself located in a fictional Eastern European Republic of Zaslavie. It’s very much Soviet Ukraine and Russia, with its fictional town almost an exact counterpart to our own Chornobyl.

Inspired by hits like STALKER, it allows you and your friends to explore the Zone, gather loot, craft materials, and survive the irradiated, anomalous wasteland. Your characters can go insane, be poisoned by abject radiation, warped by mysterious nuclear apparitions, or beaten to a pulp by a bunch of gopniks in Adidas tracksuits cursing at you in Russian.

It’s a unique and very different style of co-op horror, one that does not shy away from its inspirations.

Vein

Wrecked zombies? How fun!
Image via Ramjet Studios

Described by some as a “first-person Project Zomboid,” Vein is a post-apocalyptic zombie survival multiplayer horror game that places you and your group of friends into a walker-infested hellscape. You are, naturally, tasked with surviving these circumstances and are given free rein over how you want to do it.

It’s a sandbox experience through and through, emphasizing player agency, which, in turn, promotes creativity and “on-the-go” thinking that’ll lead every group of survivors into different outcomes. Want to build a five-star hotel out of the scrap you find? Go right ahead. Or, if it’s more your prerogative, you can mow down any zombie you come across until you get bored. Whatever you want to do, you’re free to.

Cryo

The environments are ultra spooky.
Image via Valko Game Studios

With Lethal Company almost singlehandedly spawning this entire co-op horror subgenre that loves its proximity voice chat, it’s no wonder that a game very close to the origin is on this list. Cryo puts you in the shoes of a mysterious company worker, sent to Antarctica to figure out why the continent has gone dark and cut its communications.

You and your friends really will be on the edges of your seats with this one, having to figure out things quickly but quietly, lest you disturb whatever dark horror awaits you in the pitch blackness of our world’s most remote piece of land.

Escape the Backrooms

Liminal spaces never get old.
Screenshot via Fancy Games

The crown jewel of the Backrooms meme, Escape the Backrooms has recently received its 1.0 update, releasing in full on Steam. With this huge milestone, the game has been expanded with several new levels and lots of additional content, making the trudge through the liminal spaces much more fulfilling and, of course, fun.

Various creatures of the Lovecraftian kind await behind every hallway, with puzzles and riddles along the way that’ll make escaping quite the ordeal. Make sure to keep track of who and where your friends are, because some of these monsters have a tendency to copy, mimic, and imitate, tricking you into falling prey to them.

GTFO

GTFO is among the best co-op shooters out there.
Image via 10 Chambers

And while these relatively new Company-likes are all fun and games, sticking to some classic hits doesn’t hurt a bit. GTFO is one of the best mission-based horror games ever made, combining incredible weapon realism and feedback with that recognizable Left 4 Dead-style gameplay loop where a group of players survives an onslaught of enemies.

It’s usually cheap on Steam this time of year, and brings with it loads of content to play through, which shouldn’t only last you through the spooky season, but also serve as a gateway to fun at any time of year. Its dedicated community means you’ll be able to find a group of eager players almost always, even when your own group is offline.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 Review – Third Time’s a Charm

**Jurassic World Evolution 3 Review**

Dear Frontier, if you’re reading this, please somehow make all your fantastic sims cross-compatible. Sure, maybe the wallabies from *Planet Zoo* might not want to procreate next to an enclosure of velociraptors while a triple inverted coaster screams overhead. Still, you say “build it your way,” right? Wishful thinking aside, thanks for *Jurassic World Evolution 3*. It’s the best of the series. It’s also just a wink and a nudge away from *Planet Zoo*, so let’s talk about that crossover.

### Incremental, but Large Increments

In *Jurassic World Evolution 3*, your tasks remain essentially the same as in prior games. The overarching challenge is finding a balance between commerce and conservation, exploitation and, well, evolution. Turning a profit while advancing science, dinosaur genetics, and efficient keeping.

The tasks are not unlike those in *Planet Zoo*, but the captives are a bit more extreme. *Jurassic World Evolution 3* doesn’t throw the baby tyrannosaur out with the bathwater, because it doesn’t need to. The fundamentals remain solid.

There’s a campaign, a sandbox, and some one-off challenges — more than enough to keep fans satisfied for a good long while. However, for *Jurassic World Evolution 3*, Frontier has added a bit more depth around breeding, genetics, and the dinosaur growth cycle.

The game introduces juvenile animals. In addition to being adorable and audience-pleasing, they also have a separate range of behaviors with each other and their parents. They exhibit the blended genetic tendencies and appearance you might expect.

Juveniles have unique needs separate from adults. It means more stuff to balance, but that’s what players enjoy. Breeding now takes into consideration sexual dimorphism, fertility, compatibility, territory size, and nest placement. Part of the game’s campaign deals with bioengineering enough males to populate breeding programs.

### Dr. Malcolm Returns

The singular Jeff Goldblum — aka The Fly, aka The Wizard of Oz, aka Dr. Ian Malcolm — returns to quip and intone his usual scientific warnings, but the cast is uniformly pretty good.

Overall, the game’s campaign is the best of the three games, taking the player from Hawaii to Japan to the Nevada desert. As always, the campaign is part narrative, part tutorial, and moves along at a welcome, streamlined clip.

The game’s challenge mode presents players with a range of one-off scenarios to test their ability in a variety of situations. If nothing else, the scenarios are a great practice tool for deep diving into the game’s systems.

### Play in the Sandbox

For me, and I suspect many other players, the campaign is like the vegetables, and the sandbox is the dessert. That doesn’t mean the veggies aren’t nutritious and can’t be delicious, but the freedom of building in the sandbox is endlessly fun.

As always, players can shape the sandbox experience in extremely granular ways. For some players, paying attention to every detail of infrastructure, staffing, maintenance, and research is pure joy; for others, worrying about building a sustainable power grid is annoying.

For *Jurassic World Evolution 3*, Frontier introduces modular building tools and the ability to easily customize buildings and other design elements in far more detail. Easy is relative, of course. Building an aesthetically pleasing and entertaining park experience is always a challenge.

This version includes a few new attractions, maybe the coolest of which is a kayak ride. Guests can paddle down rivers while dinos graze on the banks. The new zipline ride lets people swoop over herds of dinosaurs. Will a pen of hungry allosaurs nip at the heels of zipliners? Let’s find out.

### Fly in the Amber

I played *Jurassic World Evolution 3* on the PS5, which means using the controller for building. Thanks largely to Frontier porting its games to consoles, the practicality of playing a building sim with a controller has steadily improved.

It will probably never be as easy or intuitive as a mouse and keyboard, but the experience is relatively painless in *Jurassic World Evolution 3*.

Let me copy/paste my standard Frontier sim game complaint: lack of compatibility with prior games. Especially when a game’s tech is more iterative than dramatically different, having to repurchase content always smacks of greed. It was true in *Planet Coaster*, and it’s true in *Evolution 3*.

However, one really bright spot is that blueprints and player-made content in the Frontier Workshop is cross-platform compatible.

Generally, *Jurassic World Evolution 3* looks great, especially its lighting and scenery. At least on the PS5, some of the dinosaur skin textures have an unrealistic plastic/rubber sheen to them. However, dinosaur animations continue to evolve and feel ever more lifelike.

Players looking forward to playing on PS5 should note that there have been some issues with limits on park complexity. Frontier is working on this problem.

Thanks to its modular building systems, new juvenile dinosaurs, and engaging campaign, *Jurassic World Evolution 3* is the best of the series. It feels like a more flexible and more refined version of a familiar game.

If it had compatibility with prior content, it would be a 10/10, but *Jurassic World Evolution 3* is a great foundation for expansion.

Originally finished in Autumn Gold at the factory, this Camaro was refinished to its current white with black stripes scheme prior to the seller’s ownership. Notable exterior details include a black vinyl roof cover, a rear deck spoiler, SS badges, and LED marker lights with smoked lenses. A QA1 front anti-sway bar is installed, and the original front anti-sway bar with links will be included with the sale. The car rides on 17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels wrapped in staggered Sumitomo HTR tires, providing both retro styling and improved grip.

Braking performance benefits from power-assisted front disc brakes featuring drilled and slotted rotors, complemented by rear drum brakes. Power steering is also equipped to ensure easy maneuverability.

**Interior**
Inside, the cabin has been re-trimmed in black and features TMI front bucket seats, a matching center console, and a coordinated rear bench. Additional comfort and convenience features include a horseshoe shifter, center cup holders, and front shoulder belts. The dash has been customized, with gaps between the reproduction dash pad and A-pillar covers filled using padding and black vinyl upholstery for a clean appearance.

Instrumentation includes a Budnik steering wheel framing a column-mounted Equus tachometer, a 130-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and indicator lights for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. Aftermarket gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer reads approximately 62,000 miles, with around 1,400 miles added during current ownership.

Entertainment is handled by a modern Boss touchscreen stereo unit featuring Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay compatibility, enhancing the driving experience while maintaining classic style.

**Powertrain**
Under the hood is a later-model 350ci V8 engine with a one-piece main seal for improved durability. This powerhouse is equipped with a polished aluminum intake manifold, a Brawler four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum cylinder heads, and an HEI distributor. EXCLUSIVE: Kinky Nicole Kidman’s Movie Revenge Plan — ‘She’s Determined to Film More Sex Flicks As She Knows It Will Wind Up Her Ex’

Oct. 26, 2025, Published 11:00 a.m. ET

Nicole Kidman is planning to take on even more sexually charged film roles following her split from husband Keith Urban – a decision insiders tell RadarOnline.com is both a creative statement and an act of revenge.

The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actor was left “blindsided” last month by her split from Urban, 57, who then filed for divorce after nearly two decades of marriage. Sources close to the couple say the final straw came after Kidman’s provocative turn in Babygirl – a 2023 erotic drama in which she starred opposite 29-year-old Harris Dickinson.

A Role That Rocked Her Marriage

During the film’s press tour, Kidman made headlines for her candor about the intensity of its sex scenes. “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm anymore. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it,'” she told journalists at the time.

While the film earned critical praise for Kidman’s performance, it reportedly caused tension at home. Urban, who was notably absent from the film’s premieres, was said to be deeply uncomfortable with his wife’s increasingly explicit on-screen choices.

Embracing Creative Freedom After the Split

Following the breakdown of the marriage, industry insiders say Kidman is “more determined than ever” to continue exploring roles that push boundaries. She is already eyeing new projects that could once again test audiences and collaborators alike.

A source close to the actor said: “Nicole’s not backing down or toning things down because Keith’s no longer in the picture. If anything, she’s pushing further. She’s spent years explaining that her performances are just part of the job – now she’s finished justifying herself. This chapter is about complete creative and personal freedom.”

Freedom After Heartbreak

Friends of the star say the breakup has brought a renewed sense of freedom. One long-time acquaintance shared, “For years, she tried to balance her ambition with her marriage. Now that pressure’s gone. There’s a touch of defiance in her attitude – she knows her choices might irritate him, but that sense of freedom is empowering.”

Sources reveal Kidman had grown “exhausted” trying to manage Urban’s unease about her more sensual performances. Another insider noted, “Keith never told her outright not to take certain roles, but she always knew when something bothered him. That unspoken tension became part of their dynamic. Now she’s turning that energy into her work instead of trying to smooth things over.”

Turning Pain Into Power

That determination is expected to shape her upcoming projects. Kidman recently wrapped filming Practical Magic 2 and is working with Reese Witherspoon on the third season of Big Little Lies, where her character’s story may take a more openly sexual turn.

A production source said: “Nicole’s work has always been rooted in authenticity – emotional, physical and even erotic. She’s not about to soften that just because her marriage is over. If anything, she feels she’s entering her strongest, most self-assured phase yet.”

Rewriting Hollywood’s Rules

The actress, who has previously spoken about her commitment to working with female directors, is also said to see her new focus as part of a broader creative mission. A friend said, “Nicole’s using this moment to remind Hollywood that women in their 50s can still lead stories that are complex, sensual, and commanding. She’s rewriting the rules – and clearly enjoying every second of it.”

Kidman, who shares two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Urban, was recently photographed in Paris appearing calm but resolute. Another source added: “She’s pouring her energy into her work and her daughters. There’s no sign of her slowing down – and no more apologies for who she is or what she does on or off screen.”

EXCLUSIVE: Hugh Jackman’s Failure Brings Deborra-Lee Furness Joy! — Hunky Actor Having Trouble Selling Tickets to New York Show… After ‘Cheating’ Allegations Led to Bitter Divorce

**Oct. 26, 2025, Published 9:00 a.m. ET**

**World’s Greatest Showman Hugh Jackman Struggles to Sell Tickets, Much to Ex-Wife Deborra-Lee Furness’s Satisfaction**

Hugh Jackman, famously known as the world’s greatest showman, is reportedly having trouble selling tickets to his one-man show in New York. This news comes as music to the ears of his gleeful ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, who, according to RadarOnline.com sources, believes he deserves nothing but bad luck following revelations of his cheating ways.

“Deb has moved on, but she’s getting a fiendish delight hearing he can’t fill seats at his one-man show” at Radio City Music Hall, a source revealed.

Another insider added, “It seems Hugh’s not as invincible as he thought he was. People have told her he’s struggling and down in the dumps over the lack of ticket sales.”

**Deborra-Lee Furness’s Reaction**

The same insider further commented, “Deb clearly feels he stabbed her in the back, and she means to make him pay dearly. She loved him, and he was her everything, and now he’s a louse who broke her heart and betrayed her.”

**Why Are Ticket Sales Suffering?**

As RadarOnline.com readers are aware, Jackman, 57, and his fellow Australian Furness, 69, who married in 1996 when she was a big star Down Under and he was relatively unknown, announced their separation in September 2023. Their split came amid rumors of Jackman’s clandestine affair with Sutton Foster, 50, his married leading lady in the Broadway revival of *The Music Man*.

In his new show, titled *Hugh Jackman Live: From New York, With Love*, the X-Men alum performs songs from some of his biggest screen and stage hits, including *The Greatest Showman*, *Les Misérables*, *The Boy From Oz*, and *The Music Man*.

Broadway insiders, however, suggest that neither Jackman nor the show itself is entirely to blame for the lagging ticket sales. They attribute part of the struggle to a drop in international tourism to New York City.

“Others say audiences are avoiding Hugh because he’s a love rat – he’s become a turnoff to a lot of people who used to love him for his family values and his devotion to his former wife,” a source explained.

“Either way, the show could be in real crisis if this continues, and Hugh’s darling Sutton won’t be able to pull him out of this slump,” the insider claimed. “And Deb is feeling no sympathy for him.”

John Schneider explains controversial decision to keep Kevin Gausman in Game 2 after Will Smith home run

The Los Angeles Dodgers returned to baffling opponents with brilliant pitching in Game 2 of the World Series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw his second straight complete game of the postseason on Saturday, helping the Dodgers tie the series.

Yamamoto’s outstanding performance overshadowed a strong start from Kevin Gausman. The Toronto Blue Jays ace managed to match Yamamoto frame for frame through six innings, turning Game 2 into a true pitchers’ duel.

The Dodgers finally broke through in the seventh inning with solo home runs by Will Smith and Max Muncy. LA’s 3-1 lead proved to be more than enough for a dialed-in Yamamoto, who closed out the game brilliantly.

However, some Blue Jays fans questioned manager John Schneider’s decision to leave Gausman in the game to face the Dodgers’ lineup for the third time, especially after Smith’s 404-foot homer.

“We try to really take that into consideration. Got Shohei [for the third time in the sixth inning],” Schneider explained, according to TSN. “I think at that point it’s just game state. So I trusted Kev to get out of that. Even though it’s his third time. You kinda watch what he’s doing.”

Gausman started the seventh inning by retiring Freddie Freeman. He then faced Will Smith, who worked the count to full before Gausman threw six straight fastballs. Smith clobbered the final four-seamer into the second deck in left field, giving Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.

At this point, Gausman had thrown 72 pitches. Schneider chose to keep the two-time All-Star in the game, and Gausman struck out Teoscar Hernandez swinging. But he wouldn’t escape the inning unscathed, as Max Muncy belted another fastball deep to left field, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 3-1.

Louis Varland relieved Gausman and retired Kike Hernandez to end the seventh inning. Although Varland ran into some trouble the following inning as LA extended its lead further to 5-1, Schneider’s decision to leave Gausman in against Muncy did not ultimately change the outcome.

Yamamoto only needed a one-run lead as he mowed down 20 straight Blue Jays to close out his complete game. Meanwhile, Gausman had found a groove earlier in Game 2. After Smith’s RBI single in the first inning, the 34-year-old starter retired 17 consecutive Dodgers before Smith’s seventh-inning home run ended the streak.

Yamamoto and Gausman made history as the first starters to retire 17+ straight batters in a postseason game, highlighting the exceptional pitching duel that defined Game 2 of the World Series.

Eagles rumors: When AJ Brown could return to the field for Philadelphia

AJ Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles’ star wide receiver, will not play in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants but is expected to return after the team’s bye week for the November 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Brown missed practices this week due to a hamstring issue, leading the Eagles to list him as out for Week 8. Despite some missed time, Brown has been a key part of Philadelphia’s passing game this season. According to ESPN, he has recorded 29 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns through seven games. These numbers highlight both his big-play ability and a relatively lighter target share compared to previous seasons.

Last week, Brown showcased his potential in the Eagles’ 28-22 win over the Minnesota Vikings by finishing with 121 yards and two touchdowns. His performance helped stabilize Philadelphia’s offense alongside a strong outing from quarterback Jalen Hurts. This display emphasized why the Eagles prefer to be cautious with him moving forward.

When healthy, Brown significantly impacts coverage schemes and creates opportunities for his teammates. Head coach Nick Sirianni and the medical staff plan to use the upcoming bye week to carefully manage Brown’s recovery. This approach aligns with the team’s usual strategy for soft-tissue injuries, which can be worsened by returning too soon.

The early estimate for Brown’s return in Week 10 provides the Eagles with a valuable window to complete his treatment, monitor his workouts, and ensure a clean lift in practice before facing the Packers.
