‘Recidivist drunk driver’ and Long Island bar owner charged in hit and run

A Long Island bar owner and “recidivist drunk driver” whose license was revoked 10 years ago has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian.

Leonard Gross, proprietor of Teddy’s Bully Bar, was arraigned Thursday on charges including driving while intoxicated, vehicular assault, and leaving the scene of an incident that left a pedestrian seriously injured in the spring, according to a news release from Nassau County prosecutors.

“This defendant is a recidivist drunk driver, and on the evening of the crash, was on our roads with a license that had been revoked nearly a decade before,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly.

The 67-year-old defendant from Syosset pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors claim video and witness statements prove Gross consumed “multiple drinks” at his Oyster Bay bar before getting behind the wheel and mowing over a pedestrian with his 2025 Dodge Ram pickup truck shortly after 9 p.m. on May 17.

“This man should have never been on the road,” Donnelly added. “Now, we will hold him accountable for his criminal actions and the harm he caused.”

Gross is accused of striking his victim in a crosswalk, then running them over and speeding away. Surveillance video and license plate readers led police officers to the defendant’s driveway, where they claim to have seen blood under Gross’s truck.

The victim was treated for multiple broken ribs, chest and lung injuries, and facial lacerations at Nassau University Medical Center. Police said the unidentified man was intubated for roughly five days.

Teddy’s Bully Bar is described on its website as “a refined gastropub located in the heart of Oyster Bay, that celebrates the town’s rich history with American comfort food, specialty cocktails, local beer & wine, featuring live music every weekend.”

20 minutes after Brevard jail release, man threw rocks at deputy cruisers, causing $3,700 in damage: sheriff

VIERA, Fla. — A man was arrested Sunday, just 20 minutes after being released from the Brevard County jail, on allegations of throwing rocks at sheriff’s office patrol cars, causing nearly $4,000 in damage.

Kevin Berrios was taken into custody Sunday afternoon, according to a Facebook post by Sheriff Wayne Ivey. The sheriff reported that Berrios was released from jail around 3:30 p.m. and, within 20 minutes, encountered a deputy who was driving on Camp Road while transporting another individual to jail.

Ivey stated that Berrios threw a rock that struck the deputy’s patrol car.

After arresting Berrios, the deputy “dropped everyone off at the jail, then brought his vehicle across the street to Fleet to get a loaner, when he noticed a few other vehicles that appeared to be damaged by rocks,” Ivey said in the post.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage, Berrios was seen exiting the jail, walking across the street to the Fleet Maintenance Building, and picking up objects that he then hurled toward two patrol cars, according to Ivey.

He subsequently threw a rock at the deputy’s car as well. Sheriff Ivey confirmed that the patrol vehicles sustained about $3,700 in damage.

Feds arrest dozens of illegal aliens in sweeping New Jersey workplace raid

Federal authorities announced on Thursday that at least 46 undocumented workers were arrested during a sweeping Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operation at a freight facility in Avenel, New Jersey, on Wednesday.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, DHS officials confirmed that law enforcement personnel conducted an inspection at a federally authorized Container Freight Station as part of an ongoing campaign to ensure compliance with immigration regulations.

During the inspection, agents discovered 46 undocumented laborers, accounting for roughly 22 percent of the onsite workforce. All 46 individuals were taken into federal custody and are now awaiting immigration proceedings, according to DHS.

Surveillance footage captured the tense moments as federal officers escorted groups of workers into multiple waiting vans. The facility was surrounded by a significant law enforcement presence throughout the operation.

This latest action follows another major DHS raid in Georgia at a Hyundai factory, which had previously been highlighted by President Biden as a significant win for “New American Jobs.”

In a related incident, ICE agents were recorded breaking a car window to arrest an individual who resisted detainment, highlighting the challenges law enforcement faces during these immigration enforcement efforts.
