Cotton Closes Lower on Friday

Cotton futures closed the Friday session with weakness, as contracts were down 11 to 26 points. The March contract slipped 48 points over the short week.

Crude oil futures were down 9 cents per barrel, settling at $57.41. Meanwhile, the US dollar index rose by $0.123 to reach $98.170.

On Wednesday afternoon, the USDA released payment details for the Farm Bridge Assistance program, listing the cotton payment at $117.35 per acre.

The Seam’s online auction reported sales of 17,479 bales on December 31, at an average price of 65.40 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index remained unchanged on Wednesday at 74.30 cents.

ICE certified cotton stocks were steady as of December 31, with the certified stocks level at 11,510 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated to 50.76 cents per pound on Friday morning, up 74 points from the previous week. The Loan Deficiency Payment (LDP) rate is now 1.24 cents.

– May 26 Cotton closed at 65.37, down 23 points
– July 26 Cotton closed at 66.72, down 11 points

Cotton Reverting Lower on Thursday

Cotton futures are trading with midday losses of 65 to 76 points across most contracts.

Crude oil futures were up 19 cents per barrel, reaching $60.69, while the US dollar index climbed $0.298 to $99.320.

In a recent post, President Trump stated that China is set to purchase massive amounts of other agricultural goods, although no specifics were provided regarding cotton. Tariffs on US agricultural products are expected to be lifted, which could impact trade positively.

The Wednesday online auction from The Seam showed 8,719 bales sold at an average price of 60.14 cents per pound. Meanwhile, the Cotlook A Index rose by 45 points on October 29, reaching 76.40 cents.

ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady on October 29, with the certified stock level at 18,052 bales.

Looking at specific cotton contract prices:

– December 2025 Cotton is at 65.25 cents, down 76 points
– March 2026 Cotton is at 66.82 cents, down 69 points
– May 2026 Cotton is at 68.03 cents, down 68 points
