MultiVM Support Now Live On a Supra Testnet, Expanding To EVM Compatibility

[PRESS RELEASE Zug, Switzerland, November 19th, 2025] Supra, the vertically integrated Layer 1 powering MultiVM smart contract execution with native oracles, dVRF, automation, and cross-chain communication, announced today the opening of applications for its MultiVM testnet during today’s keynote at Devconnect Buenos Aires, held as part of Multichain Day. The announcement was delivered by Jon Jones, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Supra, during a session exploring the future of interoperability and next-generation Web3 infrastructure. This launch marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of dApp development, as Supra aims to offer EVM developers, in addition to MoveVM developers, a powerful new foundation to build, test, and deploy high-performance applications that can scale across ecosystems without compromising on security, composability, or liquidity. SolanaVM support is underway and is expected to be deployed early next year, making Supra the first L1 ever to support multiple virtual machines and execution environments from a variety of ecosystems. “We built MultiVM because we believe developers should never have to choose between innovation and access,” said Jones. “Supra aims to give teams the ability to write smart contracts in the languages of multiple virtual machines and deploy them into a fully parallelized environment, while also accessing native automation and cross-chain services, all within one unified infrastructure.” The Supra MultiVM architecture empowers dApp developers to write smart contracts in either Solidity or Move, with SolanaVM support underway, tapping into Supra’s native services such as their 600+ built-in Oracle price feeds, cross-chain communications, and automation capabilities. This eliminates long-standing constraints that have forced projects to remain locked into Ethereum-compatible environments, foregoing access to interoperate with applications from other growing ecosystems. By unifying these environments with shared blockspace and a converged execution model, Supra’s MultiVM is poised to redefine what is possible in the multi-chain era. Supra aims to become a decentralized global supercomputer, and their thesis is that any such infrastructure should be able to run programs from a variety of programming languages. A core component of their MultiVM design is SupraEVM, the network’s native EVM-compatible implementation. Built from the ground up with performance in mind, SupraEVM incorporates SupraBTM, a hybrid parallel execution engine capable of deterministic, conflict-aware scheduling. This enables significantly higher throughput and lower latency compared to all EVM chains in the industry, but without requiring developers to modify existing Solidity contracts. SupraBTM has recently been benchmarked as the fastest parallel EVM executor publicly tested to date. Independent analysis confirms that SupraBTM outperforms emerging EVM projects such as Monad in high-conflict DeFi workloads, while maintaining verifiable safety and deterministic finality. In a bold move to further validate this claim, Supra’s Co-Founder and CEO, Joshua Tobkin, launched a $1 million public bounty, offering a reward to any team capable of beating SupraBTM’s performance by 15% or more in open, reproducible benchmarks. “Too often, developers are forced to compromise between ecosystems. EVM devs feel the constraints of legacy performance, while Move developers remain isolated from the liquidity-rich Ethereum economy,” said Tobkin. “With MultiVM, Supra is collapsing the walls between ecosystems. Our vision is to provide a scalable foundation that allows applications to transcend technical silos and reach users wherever they are. With SupraBTM, we’re also proving that high performance and verifiability can coexist without tradeoffs.” MultiVM on a Supra Testnet: Now Open for Applications In a significant step to attract the best EVM talent to the Supra ecosystem, Supra has today opened applications for a considerable grant program. The program invites EVM developers seeking early access to the MultiVM Testnet environment, purpose-built to simulate mainnet conditions, to submit their best ideas and applications. Selected projects will have access to nearly all of Supra’s complete developer stack, including: Full MoveVM and EVM compatibility (no code changes required for Solidity contracts) Vertically integrated services such as native oracles, deterministic verifiable randomness (dVRF), and event-driven automation, all live or coming soon to the SupraEVM Unified RPC infrastructure supporting both Move and EVM environments Tooling compatibility with Hardhat, Foundry, and Supra’s native CLI/IDE Upcoming support for VM-to-VM communication and composable automation across environments The EVM grant program has been allocated $250,000 to the best talent on offer, and is designed to support innovative EVM-native projects deploying on Supra’s infrastructure. The program will fund up to 10 development teams, with each team eligible for up to $25,000 in milestone-based grants. Each selected project will work closely with the Supra developer relations team to define technical milestones, deploy contracts on MultiVM infrastructure, and prepare for eventual mainnet integration in early 2026. This initiative follows a wave of recent infrastructure developments from Supra, including the launch of the DevWire Hub, a new resource portal offering tutorials, CLI tools, RPC documentation, and weekly updates for developers building in Supra’s ecosystem. Supra’s MultiVM strategy also includes long-term support for additional VM integrations beyond EVM and Move, with SolanaVM currently in development. This approach reflects a broader vision of universal Web3 composability, where developers can launch applications once, then reach users on any network without friction or fragmentation. Accessing Supra’s MultiVM Infrastructure Developers building high-performance dApps in Solidity are now invited to apply for Supra’s MultiVM Testnet and associated grant program. The program offers early access to Supra’s next-generation infrastructure, engineering support, and funding for projects that demonstrate strong technical merit and alignment with Supra’s multi-chain vision. About Supra Supra is the first chain built for Automatic DeFi (AutoFi), a novel self-operating automated financial system that also serves as the perfect framework for crypto AI Agents, built upon its vertically integrated Layer-1 blockchain with built-in high-speed smart contracts, native price oracles, system-level automation, and bridgeless cross-chain messaging. Supra’s vertical stack unlocks all-new AutoFi primitives that can generate fair recurring protocol revenue and redistribute it across the ecosystem, reducing reliance on inflationary block rewards entirely over time. This stack also equips on-chain AI Agents with all the tools they need to run a wide variety of powerful DeFi workflows for users automatically, autonomously, and securely.

Alaska Airlines Pilot Who Attempted Engine Shutdown While High on Shrooms Granted No Extra Jail Time [WATCH]

A former off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot who attempted to shut down the engines of a San Francisco-bound flight while under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms will not serve additional prison time, a federal judge ruled Monday, as reported by The New York Post. Joseph Emerson was sentenced to time served and three years of supervised release by U. S. District Court Judge Amy Baggio in Portland, Oregon. Federal prosecutors had sought an additional year in prison. “Pilots are not perfect. They are human,” Baggio said during the hearing. “They are people, and all people need help sometimes.” The incident occurred on Oct. 22, 2023, aboard a Horizon Air flight from Everett, Washington, to San Francisco. Emerson, who was riding off-duty in the cockpit, attempted to pull two red handles that could have activated the fire suppression system and cut the fuel supply to the engines. The plane was carrying more than 80 passengers. This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year Flight crew members subdued Emerson, and the aircraft diverted to Portland, where it landed safely. Emerson told police he had taken psychedelic mushrooms two days earlier, had not slept in more than 40 hours, and believed he was dreaming when he reached for the controls. He said he had been grieving the death of a friend at the time. His attorney, Ethan Levi, described the episode as “a product of untreated alcohol use disorder.” Levi said Emerson had been drinking at the time and accepted mushrooms “because of his lower inhibitions.” After spending 46 days in jail, Emerson was released in December 2023 under conditions requiring sobriety, mental health treatment, and avoiding aircraft. Levi said Emerson has been sober since entering treatment. Before sentencing, Emerson told the court he took responsibility for his actions. “I’m not a victim. I am here as a direct result of my actions,” he said. “I can tell you that this very tragic event has forced me to grow as an individual.” His wife, Sarah Stretch, also addressed the court. “I am so sorry for those that it’s impacted as much as it has,” she said, adding that she was proud of her husband’s progress. One of the pilots on the flight, Alan Koziol, said he did not believe Emerson intended to harm anyone, describing him as appearing “more like a trapped animal than a man in control of his faculties. Assistant U. S. Attorney Geoffrey Barrow said Emerson’s actions were serious and credited the flight crew for preventing a disaster. “There were 84 people on that plane who could have lost their lives,” Barrow said. A passenger, Alison Snyder, told the court by phone that she and her husband will “never feel as safe flying as we once did.” Emerson pleaded guilty in September as part of an agreement with prosecutors. He faced federal charges of interfering with a flight crew. A separate Oregon state indictment charged him with 83 counts of endangering another person and one count of endangering an aircraft. At the state level, Emerson was sentenced to 50 days in jail with credit for time served and five years of probation. The court ordered him to complete 664 hours of community service, half of which may be completed at his nonprofit pilot health organization, “Clear Skies Ahead.” He must also pay $60,000 in restitution, mostly to Alaska Air Group, and comply with requirements related to sobriety, mental health treatment, and staying away from aircraft.

Khloé Kardashian recalls ‘traumatic’ moment ex Lamar Odom destroyed her prized possession: I was ‘on my knees screaming’

Khloé Kardashian recalled the devastating moment when her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, destroyed her beloved journals. The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum reflected on the “traumatic” time the ex-athlete burned her diaries right in front of her on Wednesday’s episode of her “Khloé In Wonderland” podcast. Kardashian, 41, said that she used to love journaling and would write about everything happening in her life. “I loved it and everything was in these journals,” she said. “And I remembered my ex-husband was going through it.” Odom, who struggled with substance abuse issues during their marriage, was allegedly having “a tough time.” “He was incredibly paranoid and found these journals that he knew I did all the time and was reading them and just was convinced that I was like, taking notes and sending them to the government or something crazy,” Kardashian said. Odom proceeded to take all of her journals and throw them into a fire right in front of the Good American founder. “I remember sobbing, tears streaming down my face,” Kardashian recalled. “I could remember me on my knees, screaming, like it was years of my life in these journals, and they meant so much to me.” Kardashian said that she never journaled again after that. “Because I just felt like, wow, that was taken away in a f-king blink, and what was the point?” she wondered. While Kardashian no longer finds peace in journaling, she still believes it can be an “incredibly therapeutic process” for others. “I wish I had those books just to see like, what were my thoughts then,” she said. “That’s the special part of journaling you look back, I don’t know, five years, 10 years, two years, and you’re like, ‘Wow, I was such an idiot. What was I writing about?’ Or, ‘I can’t believe that mattered to me the way it did then.’” “That’s what’s so special about journaling, is seeing your emotional state and how far you came or if you need something to reflect on or maybe inspire,” she continued. “It’s such a beautiful process to do, and so I do hate that I don’t do it anymore.” Kardashian said that there is a part of her that doesn’t want to “risk” that heartbreak happening again. “I’m not going to start a journal again and have someone destroy it, or I lose it. It’s more, I’m going to say traumatic for me, but I just don’t even want to open that up again,” she said. Instead, Kardashian uses the scarring memory as a lesson that nothing is permanent in life. “I think it just made me [realize] . you don’t get to really keep anything in this world, and it’s, maybe that’s OK,” she said. “I used to hold onto all these things, and sometimes I will write something, but then just throw it away. I don’t try to replace what I once had.” Kardashian and Odom, 46, met in 2009 and tied the knot after one month of knowing each other. Their marriage was captured on camera in their two-season E! reality show “Khloé & Lamar,” but their relationship quickly deteriorated due to Lamar’s drug use and infidelity. The Hulu personality filed for divorce in 2013. They put their breakup on pause after Odom overdosed in 2015, with Khloé remaining by his side through his recovery.

Is your CD account maturing this December? Make these 3 moves now, experts say

Certificate of deposit (CD) accounts have generated strong yields for savers who locked in high rates in 2023 and 2024. Around a year ago, you could find some CD APYs up to 6%. Now many of those same accounts are approaching their CD maturity date at a time when rates are drifting lower. If you have a CD that’s about to expire in the coming weeks, it’s imperative to understand your options and be proactive. If you ignore your CD’s maturity date, it might auto-renew at a lower rate, or you could miss out on better options entirely. What should you do instead? If your CD is maturing this December, some experts recommend taking strategic steps now. Below, we’ll detail three that they suggest. Start by seeing how high your current CD rate offers are here. 3 moves to make if your CD account is set to mature this December With your CD account maturity date looming on the calendar now, experts recommend taking these three next steps now: Know your grace period and options When your CD reaches its maturity date, you have a short grace period, typically seven to 10 days, to move your funds, open a new CD or cash out your funds without a penalty. If you do nothing during this period, the bank will follow its default setting, which is usually an automatic renewal into a new CD at the bank’s current rate. Keep in mind, the grace period is the limited time in which you can withdraw or transfer your funds without penalty fees. As Geri Hopkins, chief operations officer at Skyla Federal Credit Union, points out, “It’s important to understand this period to avoid missing a deadline and unintentionally locking funds into a different term with a potentially lower rate. Savers should carefully read, review and fully understand their disclosure documents, including the fine print, or contact their bank or credit union for additional assistance.” Hopkins recommends setting a reminder a couple of months before an existing CD matures to give yourself time to review its terms and compare them with current market offerings, including their interest rates, auto-renewals and grace periods. One of the most common mistakes savers make is letting the grace period slip by, which is easy to do because it is so short. “That small window is exactly what makes it difficult to want to stay and allows it to auto-roll out of indifference,” says Charles Urquhart, founder of Fixed Income Resources and adjunct professor of finance at Loyola University Maryland. “If a CD auto-rolls, it’s most likely accompanied by a fee if you try to get it back early.” Review your current CD options here to learn more. Shop for better rates before committing CD rates are trending downward, so explore your options before your grace period ends to avoid locking in a potentially lower return with an auto-renewal. Compare rates and terms for CDs and other account types, like a high-yield savings or money market one. “The best place to start is where your funds currently are,” says Derek Elston, a client deposit services sales officer at Merchants Bank. “Ask questions and go over all available options with your current institution to make sure you are making the best judgment. Because you have the 10-day grace period, you have time to get online and see where other banks stand.” Elston recommends looking beyond the listed APY and taking a closer look at the fine print. “Things like a promotional rate or tiered rate system for higher dollar amounts are very common with CDs. Do your homework and ask questions.” Ideally, you’ll find a top CD rate substantially higher than your bank’s current rate, so you can earn a greater return on your money. But how much higher should the rate be to justify moving your money? “If you’re going to be in this for more than a year, a switch makes sense for anything between 25 to 40 basis points,” says Urquhart. Match your next move to your goals Of course, there’s no single best move when a CD matures. Whether you decide to withdraw, roll over, reinvest or ladder your funds depends on your financial situation and your goals. For example, you might reinvest in a new CD if you find a competitive rate, or you could withdraw the cash if needed. Alternatively, you could also ladder multiple CDs to balance your returns and give yourself regular access to funds. Before your CD expires, Urquhart advises to “assess your decision to invest in the CD from the start. Was it for safety, yield, liquidity? That determines whether you should roll, ladder or redeem.” Start by thinking about when you’ll need the money and then choose a term that matches your goals. “If you’ll need cash in the next year, stay short. If this is excess long-term cash, construct a CD ladder to mature every six to 12 months so a portion of your assets is always coming due within a new rate environment every year or so,” says Urquhart. If you need access to your money, a high-yield savings account is a good option because you can withdraw your funds at any time without a penalty. If you have a short-term goal and want a safe place to keep your money, a Treasury bill also makes sense because it pays a guaranteed amount at maturity. The bottom line Deciding what to do when your CD matures is a serious decision, especially so in today’s unique interest rate climate. Your money-and potential earnings-are on the line. Don’t ignore the maturity date and let your bank make the decision for you. If your CD auto-renews, it will likely be at a lower rate. Acting now will put you in a better position to lock in stronger returns or keep cash accessible heading into 2026.

Glossy Black Snake Named in Honor of the Late Steve Irwin

Crikey, a new species of wolf snake has been discovered in India and named after the late Steve Irwin. Researchers decided to call the glossy black snake “Irwin’s wolf snake,” or “Lycodon irwini,” in honor of the Australian zookeeper, conservationist and television personality known as “the Crocodile Hunter.” “His passion and dedication to wildlife education and conservation have inspired naturalists and conservationists worldwide, including the authors of this paper,” they wrote. The species-which was found in a moist evergreen forest on Great Nicobar Island should be considered “endangered,” according to the team, who have called for conservation efforts to protect the area. “The species was previously mis-identified by researchers in the past. We present evidence that the snake is an entirely new species!” study author Zeeshan A. Mirza of the Max Planck Institute for Biology “The new species is only known from a single island in the Nicobar group of islands and is not common. That qualifies it for a rank of an endangered species.” “The adults of the species grow to about a meter and are glossy black, lacking any pattern or markings. They are strictly nocturnal and likely feed on small lizards, frogs and small mammals. The snakes are non-venomous but will bite when handled,” said Mirza. “The snake belongs to a group of snakes called wolf snakes, so called for their enlarged front teeth like the ones of a wolf.” The team said that they did not just grow up watching Irwin, but were inspired by him to follow their career paths. “All the authors are Indian, and if one considers a profession in India, it is usually inclined towards being a doctor, engineer or government employee. It was often difficult to convince parents if their children chose a career outside these lucrative fields, but Steve Irwin significantly helped change that mindset by demonstrating that one can pursue a career working with snakes!” Mirza explained. Irwin, he added, “played a crucial role not only in shaping our interests but also in altering the attitudes of our parents and Indian society in general.” The researchers explained that, currently, only four records of the species are known-three of which are based on collected specimens in this study, all from Great Nicobar Island. Due to the rarity of sightings, the researchers suggest it may be a naturally scarce species confined to the island’s evergreen forests. “New species continue to be discovered, exemplified by Lycodon irwini, highlighting the ongoing progress in taxonomy and the incomplete understanding of herpetofaunal diversity and distribution in the region,” they added in the paper. “Additionally, although the Nicobar Islands are biogeographically linked to Sundaland, their isolated biota may represent distinct lineages, emphasising the need for focused taxonomy and conservation efforts.” Do you have a tip on a science story that Newsweek should be covering? Entire Texas congressional delegation votes to release Epstein files

The U. S. House of Representatives voted nearly unanimously Tuesday to require the Justice Department to publish all of its files related to Jeffrey Epstein, including one Texas Republican who opposed the measure until a few days ago. For months, President Donald Trump resisted calls to release the files as he tried to distance himself from the deceased sex offender, including pressing Republicans against signing a discharge petition a tool through which a majority can circumvent House leadership and force a vote on a bill to compel the Justice Department to release material on Epstein. Last week, the petition garnered the support of all House Democrats and four House Republicans none from Texas to successfully require a vote. The vote comes after the House Oversight Committee released documents last week that draw ties between Trump and Epstein, including emails from Epstein that mention Trump. As it became clear that many Republicans would vote with Democrats to release the files, the president changed his mind. Trump posted on Truth Social Sunday evening that House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files because they have “nothing to hide.” Trump also said Monday that he would sign the bill to release the files if it reached his desk. Later on Tuesday, the Senate agreed to pass the bill unanimously, sending it straight to Trump’s desk. On his podcast Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said he supports the release of the files and added he suspected more Democrats would be harmed than Republicans. “The bulk of the evidence, from everything we know, is going to be evidence that is a real, real problem for, I suspect, a significant number of Democrats,” Cruz said. “I’m glad the President did this. I’m hopeful the House can vote. We can put this behind it, and then we can have some real accountability to people who committed criminal acts and hurt underage girls.” Though no Texas Republican joined the effort to compel a vote through the discharge petition, all of them voted in favor of releasing the files on Tuesday. Rep. Clay Higgins, R-Louisiana, was the only member who voted against the release. As recently as Friday, Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Richmond, spoke out against the measure. “I’ll be voting NO on the Epstein Hoax,” Nehls wrote on social media. “The Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax to distract us from the winning of President Trump and his administration.” But by Monday, Nehls was parroting Trump and telling reporters he would vote to release the files. The documents will exonerate Trump and prove that the president is not a pedophile, Nehls said. Nehls has previously said Republicans should be doing everything possible to help Trump achieve his goals. “If Donald Trump says ‘Jump three feet high and scratch your heads,’ we all jump three feet high and scratch our heads,” Nehls told reporters last November. Others, like Rep. Keith Self, R-McKinney, had consistently supported the bill, but refused to sign the discharge petition, saying a House panel probing the matter, with the blessing of leadership, was making good progress. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Austin, spoke on the House floor ahead of the vote, emphasizing the importance of transparency. “Today, a united Republican Party and a bipartisan super majority is going to pass a bill to increase transparency regarding the egregious abuses by Jeffrey Epstein,” he said. Rep. Julie Johnson, D-Farmers Branch, said the vote is symbolic because it shows that Congress is standing up for justice. For too long, Republicans have failed to hold people in positions of power accountable, she said. “It is political gamesmanship at its worst,” she said. “They’ve traded that accountability for complicitness to a president out of fear that they’re going to harm their great leader.”.

(Guest opinion) Carol Hawkins: It’s time to transition off fossil fuels

Colorado faces a difficult choice, transition off fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy or continue to jeopardize our environment and health. Transition, will cause economic and social disruption for workers and communities. Consequently, any “just transition” requires solutions that mitigate the negative consequences while simultaneously eliminating the deadly pollution caused by burning fossil fuels. I have lived in Weld County since purchasing my house in 2017. I lived in Maine at the time, near the end of an ”unexpected journey” watching my partner die from Alzheimer’s. I decided to move back to Colorado where I had family and a history of living in the state since the early 1970s. I wanted familiar surroundings. I searched online and found the perfect bungalow, my retirement home, in Ault, a rural town in a good location between Greeley and Fort Collins. I had no idea of the influx of fracking about to come. Shortly after moving, I received a forced pooling notice. I went from grief and PTSD to a sense of doom. Fracking! What did this mean for my quiet life and my health? The facts about fracking and the impacts were easy to find, but fighting the frack hasn’t been easy. Weld County, otherwise known as “Welled” County, remains the most polluted and fracked in the state. My neighbors, many who work in oil and gas, are mostly working class, and others are first-time home owners looking for affordable housing or long-time residents. Local government is staffed by those who appear unaffected by fracking. When wells were drilled next to the Highland School campus, located in the middle of town, I called the Ault Town Office and Weld County Oil and Gas to question why the drilling was so close to the school when SB 181 called for 2, 000-foot setbacks. The Ault Town Office said that they had no knowledge of drilling near the school, although it was happening just down the street, and the Weld County Oil and Gas Office laughed off my reference to SB 181 with the comment “those rules are easy to get around.” And I’ve come to learn that he is right. All you have to do is look at the loopholes. One is home rule, the other is reverese setbacks. I then turned to the state and began to protest permits, but soon learned that state regulators and the governor support the fossil fuel industry. However, outside of Colorado, a global consensus calls for a “just transition” away from fossil fuels. The planet is heating, driven by greenhouse gases from extracting and burning fossil fuels like oil and fracked gas. Agreements from COP28 called for net-zero emissions by 2050. Current research, developed by analyzing efforts toward a “just transition” around the world, provides principles that guide policy development: governmental support, dedicated funding streams, strong and diverse coalitions, and economic diversification to address the short-term impacts and long-term needs that workers and communities. Colorado must come together around this framework of principles for a “just transition,” but the transition from fossil fuels to renewables will still disrupt existing economies, and some communities may face economic hardship due to the loss of jobs and tax revenue from the fossil fuel industry. However, we must make the hard choice to experience the gains from a clean energy economy and healthy environment. Colorado’s current environmental damage and health impacts are not sustainable and challenge communities reliant on oil and gas to make the hard choice we need a “just transition” off of fossil fuels. Stop the permits and clean up the mess while supporting displaced workers and disproportionately impacted communities, like Ault. Carol Hawkins is a retired English professor who moved back to Colorado from Maine in 2017. She was served a forced pooling notice in 2018 and has been part of the resistance to fracking ever since. Her focus centers on health impacts and damage to our environment, with a particular interest in health care and job training for displaced oil and gas workers, along with support for disproportionately impacted communities like hers in Ault.
