“There was one player who was sold for ₹1.5 crore – Puneri Paltan took him. That Fazel Atrachali today went for ₹20 lakhs and became MVP. So was Fazel Atrachali only a 20 lakh player? That’s why money doesn’t matter. The value you go for in the auction doesn’t reduce your game or your playing aura at all. Fazel has proved that whether he was a 20 lakh player or not, that’s a different matter,” Pawan said during an interaction on Sunil Taneja’s YouTube channel.
He further elaborated, “Whether he should get 20 lakhs according to his name or according to his game or not – those who sit in the auction will decide that. But that player is good. It’s in his hands to decide. He has shown by playing well. He’s playing like a tiger. The word ‘Sultan’ that you people have given him, he has played really like a sultan. I feel proud of him.”
Fazel’s impressive statistics this season included 52 tackle points from 19 matches, with four High 5s to his name. He also captained Dabang Delhi in the absence of Ashu Malik, utilizing his vast experience both as a player and leader to guide the team.
