GAINESVILLE, Florida — Receiver Dallas Wilson’s promising, record-setting yet injury-riddled debut season is officially over after he hurt his right foot late in the first half of the Gators’ 24-20 loss Saturday to Georgia.
A source confirmed Wilson will miss the final four games of the regular season, leaving him with just four appearances in 2025. He remains eligible to redshirt and is expected to return as a redshirt freshman in 2026.
The talented 6-foot-3, 216-pound Tampa native sat out the first four games and much of fall camp with a left foot injury. The 19-year-old made up for lost time during a 29-21 win against Texas on Oct. 4 in the Swamp.
Wilson finished that game with six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns — all UF records for a true freshman receiver in his first start.
One highlight was a 55-yard touchdown catch that gave UF a 29-14 lead and showcased his unique skill set. Wilson shed his defender just past the line of scrimmage, caught a DJ Lagway pass along the sideline, spun out of a tackle, and then flattened 2024 second-team All-American safety Michael Taaffe at the goal line.
“He’s a specimen,” Lagway said of Wilson.
Wilson caught another touchdown the following week on a leaping grab in the end zone during a 34-17 loss at Texas A&M.
Despite his flashes of brilliance, Wilson’s season ends with just 12 catches for 174 yards and three scores.
Wilson’s injury leaves the Gators without another top perimeter playmaker. Fellow true freshman and leading receiver Vernell Brown III, along with redshirt sophomore Aidan Mizell — the team’s fastest player — both sat out the Georgia game.
In response, redshirt sophomore Tre Wilson stepped up with nine catches for 121 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown.
Forced into action, redshirt freshman TJ Abrams had a costly drop on third down, which forced UF to settle for a 54-yard field goal by Trey Smack — marking his school-record ninth field goal of at least 50 yards.
