‘It’s a Miracle They Survived’: As Hostages Finish at Special Medical Unit, Lifelong Recovery Begins
JERUSALEM, Israel After the October release of the remaining twenty live hostages from Gaza, they immediately received medical treatment and psychological care before being released to their families. However, that is only the beginning of their recovery. In a symbolic gesture, doctors at the Rabin Medical Center near Tel Aviv recently turned off the lights in their hostage care unit, as the last living hostage left for home. Professor Noa Eliakim-Raz told CBN News, “We have to be very careful, you know, to interpret pictures. It’s a bit more complicated than the pictures, of course. The minute they come back, the first thing we do is we actually see that there is nothing, you know, that there’s no emergency medical emergency or mental emergency.” During the last two years, doctors at the Rabin Center treated 40 returning hostages, including 5 of the last 20 that Hamas released in October. Eliakim-Raz admitted, “We hear terrible stories. We hear, really, stories that you can’t sleep at night after hearing, and some of them were kept in such small spaces they couldn’t even stretch out their hands. The food they were eating, or not eating, the variety everything affects their physical and mental state.” Professor Eliakim-Raz, who oversaw the unit at Rabin, said the medical staff had to learn and develop protocols as they went along. She noted, “And we built that. It’s new medicine. Of course, there is not a ‘hostages’ medicine. It’s not a field you learn in medical school.” The professor told CBN News that while doctors thoroughly checked their newly freed patients, just dealing with injuries from October 7th can revive the trauma, and just leaving the hospital is not the end of the journey. “Some of the returnees that returned more than six months ago are still going through medical procedures, surgeries. It can teach us about the situation; the fact that people are standing and smiling when they come back home is only a small part of the puzzle.” Alon Ohel spent two years in captivity after being wounded on October 7th, 2023. He did not receive treatment from Hamas and suffered harsh conditions in tunnels, including starvation. He recently returned to the hospital for orthopedic and “exceptional” eye surgeries. Professor Irit Bahar, chief of the Ophthalmology Department at the center, recalled, “The moment we realized that it might be possible to restore Alon’s sight, this was an emotional moment and a very remarkable one.” The surgery was a success. New York Physician Dr. Mark Siegel, an internal medicine specialist, told CBN News it’s a wonder the hostages survived. “They survive tremendous abuse, starvation, deprivation, dehumanization, injuries, broken bones, gunshot wounds, shrapnel, vitamin deficiencies, infections, respiratory infections, and diarrhea diseases, and being chained together and being mocked and tortured and abused, all of which, it’s a miracle they survived,” Dr. Siegel declared. And he stressed that the mental recovery takes longer than the physical. “Dehumanization, depersonalization, nightmares, severe anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder they’re being handled right now with kindness, with compassion. Their families are playing a huge role in nursing them back to health. The sensitivity that it takes to deal with someone in this condition is extremely important,” Siegel asserted. ***Please sign up for CBN Newsletters and download the CBN News app to ensure you receive the latest news from a Christian perspective.*** Professor Eliakim-Raz helped treat the mothers and a grandmother who came out as part of the first hostages’ release in November 2023. “The resilience and strength that these mothers showed is impossible to do or to capture,” she emphasized. She praised the creativity shown by the hostages to train their brains to learn things while in captivity. “You hear incredible stories about how they train themselves to keep track of time. They know to tell you exact dates and hours of things they did in captivity. And it’s unbelievable. Everyone held on to something that gave them hope,” Eliakim-Raz observed. She adds that the suffering the hostages endured can affect their health and lives for decades. “And you can see that, not only psychological influence, but also physical influences, like they have more heart disease, more dental problems, and even premature aging, even for decades forward,” she stated. “So the body remembers.” They will need to receive further care for years, with the goal of building resilience. “The main thing is to bring them back to their life,” Eliakim Raz insisted. “And the goals are very different. And then change from one to the other for one person, going back to life is running a family, and for the other, it’s playing the piano, and for the third one, it’s going back to the army.” Families play an essential role in the rehabilitation process. Eliakim-Raz likens it almost to giving birth. “They get this person back,” she explained. “They don’t really know what to expect. It’s learning each other again. They are different, and the returnees are different. The families change, too.” She shared that the medical staff felt privileged to work with the hostages. Her hope is that Israelis as a whole will learn from this crisis the importance of being a community and working together.

‘Real dreams’: Tonko visits local businesses ahead of Small Business Saturday to discuss tariffs
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y. While many people are thinking about Thanksgiving right around the corner, small businesses are getting ready for some of the busiest shopping days of the year. Ahead of Small Business Saturday, which last year saw an estimated 29. 4% increase in consumer spending jumping from $17 billion in 2023 to $22 billion in 2024 according to the United States Census Bureau, U. S. Rep. Paul Tonko (NY-20) paid a visit to a Spa City small business to hear a bit about how they are doing going into the holiday season, especially while facing the impact of high tariffs. “Every day is a small business shopping day, but to do it formally on that one day enables us to focus on the benefit they (small businesses) bring to the community,” Tonko said regarding Small Business Saturday. “Small businesses are based on a dream and a leap forward in good faith. As a community, we are challenged to meet that leap forward. They are the engine of our economy, and a small business citizen is a very strong value addition for the community it’s an employer, they grow jobs in the area, and it enables us to see the creative genius amongst us with locals who start these fascinating journeys. “I think it’s good to have this Small Business Saturday recognition so that we stop our busy pace during the holidays to understand these are real people who are promoting real dreams they’ve had in our community. They deserve our support and respect. They’ve gone through some unnatural consequences of late with tariff applications, with restrictions on employees, with DEI restraints, and the economic climate out there has made it tougher for people to be able to participate as readily as customers.” Tonko spent Monday morning with Allison Rose, Co-Owner, Saratoga Chocolate Co., and her staff, hearing about this local small business, which was named the #3 Best Chocolate Shop in America by the 2024 USA Today Readers’ Choice Award, and how they are handling the challenges that are facing the chocolate industry. On Tuesday, Tonko will visit DeFazio’s at 216, the newest location of Troy’s famous DeFazio’s Pizzeria, which has been a local staple since 1951, to discuss how price increases have impacted its ability to serve Capital Region residents as well. Saratoga Chocolate Co. started in 2016, with their first location opening in late 2020, delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and moved into their new space this May. Rose notes that the new space is about five times bigger than their previous location, which has taken some getting used to, but has allowed them to shift the location of where they do order fulfillment and has increased their staff “enormously.” “We’re proud to be a member of the community, we’re proud to hire locally and we’re proud to have a small manufacturing operation in New York,” Rose said. “We’ve had a pretty good run since 2016 when we launched and opened our first retail store across the hallway it was supposed to be March of 2020, but we all know what happened then, so we got open at the end of 2020 and we had some good, steady years, and then the last two years were pretty bumpy again.” Rose noted that the chocolate market has seen “an unprecedented collapse” in the last two years as a result of of climate impacts and crop disease, explaining further that a black pod rot that contributed to large crop loss over a period of a couple of years in Africa (where 80% of the world’s cocoa production comes from) which has contributed to large crop loss over a period of a couple of years that then put such a pinch on supply that prices. She added that policies from the current administration, namely tariffs on imported goods, have impacted the chocolate industry, especially since this is one of the products that can’t be produced domestically but has a high demand for it, so there’s no flexibility and no equal quality substitute. “The problem is that you’re stuck, so you have nothing left to do but to pass costs through,” Rose explained. “There aren’t many cheap alternatives, even within the chocolate industry. And I, for 1, am not willing to compromise on quality. I think we’ve built a premium chocolate brand intentionally, and I’m not about to back away.” While discussing this, Tonko points out that he thinks tariffs should be strategically implemented, not on items that can’t be readily produced in the US. “I think it’s why we’ve always had Congress that was supposed to be in charge of setting the tariffs,” Tonko noted. “A broader audience talking about how ‘this is an item we can’t compete with,’ and it’s not like we’re putting a tariff on other producers that would put us at a disadvantage. It makes no sense strategically to tariff an item that we’re not producing; it’s just a senseless type of approach.” Rose also pointed out that all this contributes to feeling increased price pressure, especially when all these impacts have seen the cost go up by 68% before tariff increases, which now add an extra layer on top of that, with anywhere from a 15 to 20% increase. This is also coupled with the impact on packaging and equipment cost. Rose gave the example that all of the cellophane bags and boxes the store utilizes are primarily imported from China and things like her cocoa jars went up 32% since the last time she purchased them. Also, she says she has seen a 30% increase in tariffs on her packaging. In terms of equipment, a recent purchase of equipment from Italy, since there are not that many chocolate processing pieces of equipment manufactured within the United States, jumped from $24,000 to $29,900 strictly from tariffs alone. “It’s hitting us on all of our cocoa products and ingredients. It’s hitting us on equipment. It’s hitting us on packaging,” Rose said. “When we communicate with the customer, it’s not about increasing prices for a profit grab, it’s increasing prices to remain profitable and pay our bills. We don’t have the types of cash reserves that large companies do to be able to hurry up and buy ahead when you see the market signals coming.” These rising costs have impacted other areas of the business as well, including staffing and pay. Rose shared she has “an intense desire” to raise wages and offer benefits to her staff, but with the margins being hit as they have been over the past couple of years, it has been difficult for her to move forward in a way that will foster goodwill and employee retention. “When you’re just trying to stem the bleeding, it limits your ability to recognize the people who work really hard for you and believe in what you’re trying to accomplish. You understand that they have to do what they have to do as well, because they have a family to feed and have their own bills to pay. Rose adds that she has heard first-hand that tariffs have caused other chocolatiers to close, giving the example that within one day, a local chocolate store in Colton told her that they were closing due to price increases, specifically tariff-related, and a 100-year-old family chocolate business in the Catskills went on the market for sale. “Somebody needs to look at the chocolate industry. This is a space that we have no room, no flexibility, within and industry carveouts and smart policies that don’t disadvantage local small manufacturers and local small businesses employers are essential. It’s so important that we understand that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t always work. The devil is always in the details, and while headlines are great, there’s reality. We need to talk about the reality of how these things are hitting.” Tonko added that it’s clear that these tariffs have really caused a lot of heartache for businesses, and this is part of why visits like this are important because they allow him to take back messages from local businesses like this and share the impact these tariffs are having on real people. “It’s not like we’re bringing in money because of tariffs, we’re digging into the consumer’s pocket and we’re digging into the small business person’s plan to get those dollars,” Tonko said. “ It’s our own people, business community, consumer community, paying the price, and that’s unfair. (Tariffs) need to be done strategically. “If you’re putting tariffs on chocolate that we can’t produce here, it’s a foolish application. It’s non-strategic.” And on top of all this, Tonko adds that the Small Business Administration, who try to network and make certain small businesses get assistance, has seen a 43% reduction in staff as well as several closings of district offices and while our district office might not be closed, he says closures do put pressure on the entire system to respond to the small businesses out there. “It’s curtailing a lot of the assistance that we should be providing. But some of the best we can do is to stop the foolishness. You know, many have said, myself included in Congress, that it should be a congressional application, not left to one person, one whim, where it’s done in a way that has not been strategic. And so we need to be very cognizant of things that we do that are going to impact that small business budget.” Rose adds that if the goal is to strengthen the American economy and support American business, the whole economy must be looked at and taken into consideration. “It’s important to recognize that being a small business owner is a daily recommitment to working towards a vision that you have and choosing to wake up and fight the fires, because they’re always going to come,” Rose said. “There’s always going to be something you have to deal with that day, but I know for certain that when I got into this business, I didn’t see a global pandemic, and I didn’t see an unprecedented crop failure, and I certainly didn’t see massive increases in prices from tariffs. “That’s a lot for any business to handle, and I’ve been doing it with a white knuckle grip and a lot of grit, and while I’m really tired, I love what I do, and I believe in what I do, and I just want to see smart policies that truly benefit small businesses. “I have a responsibility to my employees, I have a responsibility to my customers, I have a passion and a belief in what we’re doing, and I believe in my community. I want to see those things all benefit, and I want to see this business flourish . We just need some help and I know I’m not the only Chocolatier that feels that way.”.

Bitcoin Rises as Trump Points to “Extremely Strong” U.S.–China Relations
The Bitcoin price is on the rise today and is now looking to reclaim the psychological $90,000 level. This follows U. S. President Donald Trump’s statement of his country’s strong relationship with China after his call with his Chinese counterpart earlier today. Bitcoin Rises Above $88,000 Following Trump’s Statement TradingView data shows that the BTC price has surged above $88,000 today, reaching an intraday high of around $88,400. The flagship crypto is up almost 2% after climbing from an intraday low of around $85,000. The Bitcoin rally follows Trump’s Truth Social post, in which he highlighted the “extremely strong” relationship with China. This came after his call with China’s President Xi Jinping. Trump revealed that they had discussed many topics and that the call was a follow-up to their “highly successful” meeting in South Korea last month. The U. S. president noted that since that meeting, they have made significant progress on both sides in keeping their agreements up to date and accurate. This marks a positive for Bitcoin and the broader crypto market, considering the heightened trade war between the two countries before now. Trump had threatened tariffs of up to 150% on China in early October, which sent the crypto market crashing. However, as CoinGape reported, the U. S. and China have since reached a trade truce, and the call between both leaders further solidifies the budding relationship between the two countries. Trump also mentioned in his post that both leaders have agreed to make state visits next year, with him visiting China and China’s president visiting the U. S. “We agreed that it is important that we communicate often, which I look forward to doing,” Trump added. Is The Bottom In For BTC? co-founder Arthur Hayes had earlier predicted that the bottom may be near for the flagship crypto following its crash below $100,000 earlier in the month, which sent it to new lows. Hayes had noted that liquidity was improving in the market, which marks another positive. He expects an increase in USD liquidity as the Fed ends quantitative tightening on December 1, while bank lending has also increased this month. Meanwhile, market expert Julien Bittel indicated that more liquidity is bound to flow into the market as the U. S. government takes on more debt to keep expanding its GDP. He noted that Bitcoin is bound to thrive in this world of perpetual debasement, as governments monetize their debt through quantitative easing (QE)- style operations.

Liverpool vs PSV Eindhoven Prediction and Betting Tips | November 26th 2025
Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven will battle for three points in a UEFA Champions League fixture on Wednesday (November 26th). The game will be played at Anfield. The hosts will be looking to bounce back from the debilitating 3-0 defeat they suffered against Nottingham Forest at the same venue in the Premier League over the weekend. They made a bright start to the game but went behind to Murillo’s 33rd minute strike. Nicolo Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White scored second half goals to compound the Reds’ misery and ensure they lost consecutive league defeats by a 3+ goal margin for the first time since 1965. Thanks for the submission! PSV, meanwhile, claimed maximum points with a 1-0 away win over NAC Breda. Guus Til’s 36th-minute strike settled the contest. The Lightbulbs will turn their focus to the continent where their last game saw them play out a 1-1 draw away to Olympiacos. Liverpool claimed a 1-0 home win over Real Madrid. The win saw the Merseyside outfit climb to eighth spot in the table with nine points from four games. PSV are 18th on five points. Liverpool vs PSV Eindhoven Head-to-Head and Key Numbers Liverpool have five wins from the last seven head-to-head games. PSV Eindhoven have been victorious once while one game was drawn. Their most recent clash came in January 2025 when PSV claimed a 3-1 comeback home win in the UCL League phase last season. Liverpool are currently on a 13-game winning run at home in the UCL league/group phase. PSV are unbeaten in their last 15 away games across competitions (12 wins). PSV have won just one of 14 away European games against English opposition (eight losses). Liverpool vs PSV Eindhoven Prediction Liverpool’s shambolic Premier League title defense went to new lows over the weekend in a comprehensive defeat against a beleaguered Forest. Poor results domestically have led to questions being asked of Arne Slot’s future but things are brighter on the continent, where they occupy the final automatic knockout spot. PSV are flying high at the moment and are unbeaten in their last 11 games across competitions (eight wins). Their last 10 UCL games have seen both sides find the back of the net. Back the home side to claim a narrow victory with goals at both ends. Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 PSV Eindhoven Liverpool vs PSV Eindhoven Betting Tips Tip 1 Liverpool to win Tip 2 Both teams to score Tip 3 Over 2. 5 goals.

Tara Reid Taken to Hospital After Being Seen on Stretcher in Chicago Hotel: Report
Tara Reid was taken out of a Chicago hotel on a stretcher. Paramedics moved the American Pie actress, 50, from a hotel lobby to a nearby ambulance early Sunday morning, Nov. 23, according to video obtained by TMZ. The distressing incident was captured by an onlooker. A representative for Reid did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. In footage of the Sunday incident, several individuals could be seen helping the visibly dazed Reid into a wheelchair in the lobby. During one moment, things got tense between a man holding the actress up and another holding onto the chair. “We’re going to take you to your room, okay?” one of the men, who wore a uniform, told Reid after helping her into the chair as the actress looked around, seemingly confused and slurring her words. Footage captured later showed paramedics arriving on the scene after an uncertain amount of time. Three paramedics were seen walking Reid, who was on a stretcher, out of the hotel. The onlooker who captured the video told TMZ that before the paramedics arrived, Reid could be heard saying, “You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress.” In March, the actress made a rare red carpet appearance as she stepped out for the premiere of the Indonesian horror film Pabrik Gula in Los Angeles. She has a number of films in the works, including The Dreamer Cinderella, and last appeared onscreen in the 2023 vampire flick, Bloodthirst. She’s also been candid about the response to her appearance in recent years, after viewers of season 2 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test as well as celebs like Billy Bush criticized her for being “too skinny.”.

TSMC’s CEO has a major concern about a chip production problem that could help Samsung Foundry
TSMC is the world’s most important contract chip foundry in the world as it builds chips for some of the most influential fabless chip designers in the world. By “fabless,” we mean that these companies don’t have the production facilities (known as fabs-short for fabrication facilities) to build their chips thus making them “fabless.” You’re probably familiar with many of these companies including Apple, Qualcomm, Nvidia, AMD, MediaTek, and Broadcom. TSMC’s big name clients like Apple and Nvidia account for most of TSMC’s advanced process capacity TSMC has no trouble getting orders. For the third quarter of 2025, TSMC reported revenue of $33. 1 billion which indicates that the foundry is shipping plenty of chips. But C. C. Wei, CEO of TSMC, says that overall, chip demand is well ahead of chip supply. Wei says that based on what he sees currently, TSMC’s demand for chips is three-times higher than the amount that TSMC can fulfill at the moment. This is not good because it means that any slight problem could lead to the foundry facing a chip production bottleneck that could sharply reduce the availability of popular tech products that are powered with TSMC-built semiconductors. Chips made using advanced processes such as 5nm, 3nm and 2nm have even a greater production shortfall at TSMC leading Wei to note that TSMC’s production of these chips at current numbers is massively insufficient. Those TSMC customers lucky to have a long-term contract, like those we named at the end of the first paragraph, might not have as much to worry about as other firms do. Prospective TSMC clients sans a contract could be forced to wait a long time for production capacity to open up allowing their chips to be built. TSMC’s huge 70. 2% Q2 market share dwarfs Samsung Foundry’s 7. 3% Strong demand for AI chips from Nvdia, for example, probably leaves little to no room for TSMC to accept many uncontracted orders for production using advanced process nodes. Those turned away can run to Samsung Foundry although there are some reasons why TSMC had 70. 2% of the contract semiconductor foundry market during the second quarter this year. Samsung’s 7. 3% share put it a distant second behind TSMC. China’s largest foundry, SMIC, was third with 5. 1% of the market. Samsung Foundry’s poor yields have kept some chip designers away. You might remember that Samsung Foundry’s poor yields led Qualcomm to pull production of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from the foundry. After revising the specs a bit, Qualcomm had TSMC produce the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1; Qualcomm has stayed with TSMC ever since. Will customers feel comfortable using Samsung Foundry to cover their chip-production needs? The yield is the percentage of non-defective, functional chips sliced from a silicon wafer compared to the maximum number that could have been built from that wafer. Last year Samsung was forced to spend $400 million to buy additional Snapdragon 8 Elite application processors (APs). The money had to be coughed up when it became apparent that Samsung Foundry’s low yield on 3nm production meant that not enough Exynos 2500 APs could be bult in time for the 2025 flagship Galaxy S25 series. Now, with Samsung Foundry’s yield up, the capable Deca-core Exynos 2600 AP is expected to be deployed on the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ in certain regions. The big question is whether the current capacity shortage creates such desperation for some manufacturers that they are willing to take their chances with another foundry instead of TSMC. After all, the fact that TSMC is overwhelmed with orders can’t be a coincidence. However, this current set of circumstances could be just what the doctor ordered for Samsung Foundry. And with the early word on the Exynos 2600 AP being positive, the start of a Samsung Foundry turnaround could be at hand. Recommended Stories Building a 2nm fab costs approximately $28 billion and it takes three to five years to complete. Correcting TSMC’s chip shortage isn’t something that can be done quickly which means that it will probably take years for the foundry to add capacity. Can Samsung Foundry step up and take advantage of this situation?.
