Hegseth, Bradley and the Venezuela boat strikes: Who is legally responsible?

Amid intensifying scrutiny over U.S. military strikes against alleged drug boats in the Caribbean, questions are emerging about who in the Trump administration’s chain of command is legally responsible for what many view as potential war crimes.

Administration officials have insisted that the decision rested with Adm. Frank Bradley, not Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Spirit Crossing, from Cozy Grove creators, will also come to PC

Developer Spry Fox has had quite a busy few weeks. The team is actively working on its latest game, *Spirit Crossing*, which is currently available in open alpha on iOS and Android.

In a special announcement during Tuesday’s Wholesome Snack showcase, Spry Fox revealed that *Spirit Crossing* will also be coming to PC.

First announced in March 2025 as part of Spry Fox’s publishing partnership with Netflix, *Spirit Crossing* is described as a co-op life simulation game. Players settle into an otherworldly village, meet friendly spirits, and forge eternal friendships. Cozy activities include exploring the nearby wilderness, fishing in various ponds, and dancing to music.

As part of the Netflix partnership, the streaming giant took on publishing duties for *Spirit Crossing*. However, this will be the last game under that partnership, as Netflix recently sold Spry Fox back to its original founders—a development that surfaced earlier this month.

Stay tuned for more updates as *Spirit Crossing* continues to evolve across platforms.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts drops confident truth bomb ahead of free agency push

The Los Angeles Dodgers have just changed the tone of MLB free agency, and the message came straight from manager Dave Roberts.

Fresh off back-to-back World Series titles, the club appears more focused on a possible three-peat than on a splashy winter spending spree. Speaking at the Winter Meetings on Monday, Roberts made it clear that the Dodgers like where they stand after beating the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games to claim the 2025 World Series.

The manager framed the offseason not as a hunt for stars, but as a chance to support a core that has already delivered two straight rings and three titles since 2020. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale took to X (formerly known as Twitter) with a post that captured the calm, confident stance from the Dodgers skipper. This signaled to the league that the champions may sit out the top of the market.

This shift in strategy also reshapes the top of MLB free agency. Agents and rival clubs often count on the Dodgers to drive up prices, but if the champions step back, teams like the New York Mets, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants gain room to chase marquee names without worrying about a late push from Los Angeles.

Inside the clubhouse, the focus seems to be on history. Dodgers Nation later took to the platform, posting a video of the 53-year-old leader doubling down on his outlook and hinting that the team already has its eyes on rare company.

“This team is still focused, there’s some talk about a 3-peat,” Roberts said, underscoring the Dodgers’ determination to continue their championship run.

Ex-NASA scientist poached by France urges European flexibility on appointments

As Europe considers how best to attract US-based scientists impacted by funding cuts and political hostility from the administration of Donald Trump, one space scientist heading for Marseille has a message for funders: allow Americans to retain some of their old ties.

Kartik Sheth, who lost his position as associate chief scientist at NASA in April due to a mass layoff affecting thousands of employees, is preparing to start a new chapter in France. Sheth will soon join Aix-Marseille University as part of its Safe Place for Science programme, an initiative designed to offer a haven for US-based academics affected by recent cuts in the United States.

“The French have been extremely wonderful and generous in offering a pretty sizable start-up package,” said Sheth, who earlier this year met French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the scheme.

As European institutions work to welcome displaced talent, the Safe Place for Science programme stands as an example of how global cooperation can support researchers during challenging times.

Rams thump Cardinals to stay tied atop NFC West

Rams Dominate Cardinals 45-17 to Stay Tied for NFC West Lead

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Matthew Stafford threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns, while Puka Nacua and Blake Corum each scored twice as the Los Angeles Rams rolled past the Arizona Cardinals 45-17 on Sunday. With the victory, the Rams remain tied for the NFC West lead.

The Rams (10-3) overcame an early 7-0 deficit to score 35 unanswered points, bouncing back from last week’s turnover-filled loss to the Carolina Panthers. This win marked their seventh victory in eight games, keeping them atop the division alongside the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams hold a one-game lead over the San Francisco 49ers.

On the other side, the Cardinals (3-10) continued to struggle, dropping their fifth straight game and 10th in their last 11 contests after a promising 2-0 start to the season.

Rams Build Momentum Early

Although the Rams fell behind early, they quickly regained control. By halftime, Los Angeles had built a 24-10 lead, capped by a beautiful 28-yard touchdown pass from Stafford to Nacua. Nacua caught six passes for 136 yards in the first half alone.

In addition to Nacua’s score, the Rams also found the end zone on short runs by Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, each punching in a 2-yard touchdown run. Los Angeles amassed 306 yards in the first half and finished the game with a total of 530 yards.

Dominant Second Half Seals the Win

The Rams continued their offensive onslaught after halftime, extending their lead with a 6-yard touchdown pass from Stafford to tight end Colby Parkinson to make it 31-10.

Late in the third quarter, Nate Landman intercepted a pass from Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett, setting up a quick 31-yard touchdown from Stafford to Nacua, pushing the lead to 38-10.

On the very next drive, Corum showcased his speed and elusiveness, breaking free for a 48-yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 45-10.

Stafford completed 22 of 31 passes, while Nacua finished with 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Corum contributed 128 yards on the ground with two scores.

Cardinals’ Struggles Continue

The injury-hit Cardinals struck first, taking a 7-0 lead early after a crisp five-play, 67-yard drive capped by Brissett’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson. Wilson had an impressive game with 11 receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Brissett, starting in place of injured starter Kyler Murray for the eighth consecutive game, completed 25 of 44 passes for 271 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Tight end Trey McBride added five catches for 58 yards, extending his streak to 15 straight games with at least five receptions, tying the all-time record for a tight end previously set by Travis Kelce.

This loss marks another lopsided defeat for Arizona against a division rival, following a 44-22 loss to the Seahawks in Week 10 and a 41-22 loss to the 49ers in Week 11. The Rams have now won 15 of their last 18 meetings against the Cardinals.

Injuries

For the Rams, cornerback Darious Williams (tibia) was among five inactives on Sunday.

Fleet’s offensive surge halts Frost’s road winning streak

BOSTON — Shay Maloney ignited an offensive explosion for the Boston Fleet, scoring the first of a season-high four goals as the hosts dominated the Minnesota Frost 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. The game took place in front of a crowd of 5,338 fans at Agganis Arena.

Maloney and team captain Megan Keller scored just 1 minute and 14 seconds apart late in the first period, giving first-place Boston (4-0, 12 points) an early 2-0 lead.

Minnesota (2-2, six points) responded early in the second period when Klára Hymlárová cut the deficit in half, assisted by Claire Butorac and Peyton Anderson. It was Hymlárová’s first goal of the season. However, that momentum was short-lived.

Rookie Abby Newhook quickly restored Boston’s two-goal advantage with her third goal of the season, a power-play marker just 49 seconds after Hymlárová’s score, pushing the Fleet ahead 3-1. Theresa Schafzahl sealed the victory for Boston with another power-play goal early in the third period.

“I felt like their pressure all over the ice, the first pressure F1 and the secondary pressure, was really good,” said Frost defender Lee Stecklein. “Obviously, they did that last year too; it just felt really consistent today.”

The Fleet’s goaltender Aerin Frankel turned aside a season-high 26 shots to earn her league-leading fourth victory. On the other side, Minnesota’s Maddie Rooney also set a personal best with 31 saves.

Boston head coach Kris Sparre praised the intensity and organization of both teams: “I thought that was probably the highest pace game that we’ve played so far. We knew going into this game that it was going to take everybody. That’s a very organized group over there in Minnesota, and you can see why they’ve had a lot of success in this league so far.

“Credit to our group. I thought we hung in there and felt like we played a pretty tidy game. Our group is pretty reset from last year. We’re focusing on what we have now, and we feel like we’re a completely new team.”

The loss snapped Minnesota’s season-opening two-game road winning streak, as the Frost played their third consecutive road contest early in the season.

“We started off hot, and I think we just want to be better on our power play and scoring on those chances,” said Frost assistant coach Brianna Decker. “And on the back side of that, the PK (penalty kill) gets cleaned up as well because obviously we have them in the next game.”

Minnesota will next face Boston at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul on December 19, following a near two-week international break in the PWHL schedule.
