Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Meets PM Modi, Seeks Relief For Rain-Hit Farmers – VIDEO

New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to seek assistance for farmers who have suffered losses due to the recent heavy rains that lashed the state.

Fadnavis handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister and briefed him about the situation in Maharashtra following the heavy rainfall. “The Prime Minister asked the state government to send a proposal in this regard which will be considered constructively,” the Chief Minister told reporters.

He also highlighted that the BJP manifesto includes a commitment to waiving farmers’ loans, and the government is focused on making this promise more effective. “We will certainly fulfill the assurance of loan waiver given by us in the manifesto. A committee has been set up in this regard and it will decide on the loan waiver. A loan waiver cannot be done time and again, so the focus will be on how to make it more effective,” Fadnavis explained.

Addressing the concerns about loan repayment, he added that the loans taken for the kharif crop will have to be repaid next year. “The immediate concern of the farmers is help in their accounts. So it will be our priority to extend this help,” he said.

FAA extends flight restrictions at Newark Airport until Oct. 24, 2026

Air traffic controllers who handle flights arriving and departing from the airport faced significant challenges earlier this year due to multiple communications and radar outages. These issues led to thousands of cancellations, disrupting travel plans for many passengers.

While the FAA continues to limit flights, the number of takeoffs and landings is gradually increasing by four per hour, now reaching 72 operations per hour. However, this figure remains well below the more than 80 flights per hour that the airport experienced before the current caps were put in place.

United Airlines, which operates a major hub at Newark, has expressed support for limiting the number of flights into the airport. CEO Scott Kirby emphasized the importance of this approach, stating, “The reduced operations, along with continued focus on technology upgrades and ATC staffing increases, are critical milestones toward Newark’s long-term operational certainty. Things will only get better as we head into the fall and winter seasons.”

In testimony before members of the House in June, former acting head of the FAA Chris Rocheleau projected that by October, the Philadelphia air traffic control facility—which manages flights in and out of Newark—would reach healthy staffing levels and resolve ongoing technology issues.

The FAA has reported a successful transition to a brand-new fiber optic communications network linking New York and the Philadelphia TRACON. Staffing numbers have also improved, with 22 fully certified controllers and five certified supervisors currently on duty. Additionally, 27 controllers and supervisors are in training to further bolster the team.

These developments signal progress toward restoring more stable and efficient air traffic operations at Newark, with continued improvements expected in the coming months.

Mumbai: Women Doctors Raising Sexual Harassment Complaints At Nair Hospital Being Silenced, Supriya Sule’s Big Charge

**Mumbai: Women Doctors at Nair Hospital Allege Silencing Amid Sexual Harassment Complaints**

Member of Parliament and NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule has raised concerns over the treatment of women doctors at Mumbai’s civic-run Nair Hospital who have reported sexual harassment. Speaking on Friday, Sule stated that these women are being silenced despite their repeated requests to be heard. She urged government authorities to take urgent action, emphasizing that the issue severely jeopardizes women’s safety.

“Despite them requesting to be heard, government authorities are turning a blind eye to this entire issue. We demand urgent action now, it is gravely jeopardising women’s safety,” Sule wrote in her post on X.

### Rising Complaints Against a Suspended Assistant Professor

The issue came into sharper focus during a hearing held on Thursday, where several more female students stepped forward to lodge complaints against a suspended assistant professor from BYL Nair Hospital. To date, approximately 10 complaints have been officially filed against the professor.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the hearing was organized following a directive from the Additional Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The session was conducted by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee at the Workplace, under the Savitribai Phule Women’s Resource Centre.

### What Is the Nair Hospital Case?

The case originated when a female student studying at Bai Yamunabai Laxman (BYL) Nair Hospital and Medical College, located in Mumbai Central, filed an official complaint accusing an associate professor of inappropriate conduct and sexual harassment. The hospital’s internal Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee initially examined these allegations.

Earlier this month, the Dean of Nair Hospital disclosed that the internal complaints committee had informed him about the sexual harassment case on April 12. Following the investigation, the professor was removed from all academic activities by the first week of June.

On September 15, the BMC officially announced that the professor had been suspended following the multiple sexual harassment complaints. Subsequently, the case was escalated to the Municipal Headquarters’ Complaint Committee under the Savitribai Phule Women’s Resource Center for further action.

This growing controversy has highlighted the urgent need for more robust mechanisms to ensure the safety and dignity of women in educational and healthcare institutions. Authorities and stakeholders continue to face pressure to address the issue transparently and swiftly.

Wait, What? Live Toad Found Inside Salad Pouch Purchased From Supermarket In England

Imagine you’re hungry and about to open a salad pouch you recently purchased from a store, only to find a toad staring back at you from inside the bag. You would probably scream out loud after spotting the unexpected creature in your food pack, wouldn’t you?

Something similar recently happened in England when a person unwrapped a salad bag bought from a supermarket and found a live toad inside. A staff member from the Waitrose distribution center in Bracknell contacted the local animal rescue team after discovering the toad hidden in the salad bag.

Did they ensure that this salad bag with the toad wasn’t placed on the shelves to prevent any customer from accidentally picking it up? No. They only found out about the live toad after a customer complained.

Soon after, the pouch was set aside and the rescuers were called in for assistance. Berkshire Reptile Rescue responded to the incident and confirmed that the toad was found by a customer in a bag of salad and was subsequently returned to Waitrose.

The toad was safely collected and isolated by the rescuers while they investigated how it ended up inside the food package. “I have no idea where he came from but he’s happy where he is… We are just going to keep him,” rescuer Graham Martin told the BBC.

Martin also pointed out that incidents like this have surprisingly become more common recently. People often seek his help to rescue stowaway reptiles found in their holiday luggage or even in imported fruits and vegetables.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood: Delhi High Court asks Sameer Wankhede to justify defamation plea against Netflix and Red Chillies

The Delhi High Court on Friday questioned former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede over the maintainability of his defamation plea against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix.

Wankhede had approached the court seeking a permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration, and damages for what he described as a false, malicious, and defamatory portrayal in the web series *The Ba***ds of Bollywood*.

### Court Questions Jurisdiction

Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav asked Wankhede to establish how his plea was maintainable in Delhi and whether any cause of action had arisen in the national capital. According to the court’s observations, jurisdiction was a key issue in deciding the admissibility of the petition.

In response, Wankhede’s counsel, senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, argued that the series was available for streaming in Delhi and had been viewed by audiences in the city, thereby impacting his client’s reputation locally.

The court, however, directed Wankhede to amend his plea to specifically demonstrate how a cause of action had arisen in Delhi.

### Background of the Case

Wankhede rose to national prominence for leading the investigation in the Aryan Khan drugs-on-cruise case. In his plea, he has sought Rs. 2 crore in damages. Interestingly, he has requested that the amount, if granted, be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the treatment of cancer patients.

The plea alleged that the controversial series, reportedly produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and streamed on Netflix, was deliberately conceptualised and executed to malign Wankhede’s reputation. It further argued that the timing was prejudicial, given that related proceedings involving Wankhede and Aryan Khan are still pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.

### Specific Objections Raised

According to Wankhede’s claims, the show includes a character making an obscene gesture—specifically showing the middle finger—after uttering the slogan *Satyamev Jayate*, which forms part of India’s National Emblem.

The plea described this act as a grave violation of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which could attract penal consequences under Indian law.

Additionally, the petition asserted that the web series violated provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) by promoting offensive, obscene content that not only harmed his reputation but also outraged national sentiment.

### What’s Next?

With the High Court instructing Sameer Wankhede to strengthen the jurisdictional basis of his plea, the next hearing is expected to determine whether the defamation suit can proceed in Delhi.

Until then, the controversy surrounding *The Ba***ds of Bollywood* continues to brew, placing both Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment in the legal spotlight.

Pune Shocking Video: Four Stray Dogs Attack, Drag Minor Girl On Road

In a shocking incident in Pune, a minor girl was attacked and dragged by four stray dogs. The CCTV footage of the attack has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread concern.

As seen in the video, the girl was playing with a friend near her building when four stray dogs suddenly approached and attacked her. The dogs even dragged her for some distance before two men riding by on bikes arrived and successfully intervened, saving the girl from further harm.

The exact time and location of the incident remain unclear. However, this alarming event once again highlights the urgent need for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take immediate measures to control the growing stray dog menace in the city.

Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred recently in Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Chikhali area. CCTV footage shows a young man walking to his workplace through a narrow lane when he was suddenly attacked from behind by a pack of seven stray dogs.

In a bid to defend himself, the man pushed over a nearby bike onto the dogs and tried to scare them away using a flex board. Despite his efforts, he sustained injuries during the attack.

Following this incident, local residents have demanded that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) take swift and effective action to manage and control the stray dog population to prevent such attacks in the future.

Plant mimics smell of ants to lure pollinating flies

For the first time ever, it has been documented that a plant mimics the smell of injured ants to attract flies for pollination. This remarkable mimicry was observed in *Vincetoxicum nakaianum*, a newly described dogbane species native to Japan.

Researchers discovered that the flowers of this plant release a scent almost identical to the odor of ants distressed by spider attacks. This scent effectively lures chloropid flies, which are naturally drawn to the smell in search of an easy meal.

Chloropid flies typically feed on the fluids of injured ants, a behavior known as kleptoparasitism. As these flies visit the flowers seeking food, they inadvertently pollinate the plants by moving from flower to flower.

While ant mimicry has been observed in many invertebrates, this is the first documented case of a plant using such mimicry to attract its pollinators.
