After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor will headline Rahi Anil Barve’s upcoming film, *Pahadpangira*. The project is reported to be a dark fantasy exploring themes of feminism set against the backdrop of the Sati practice.

Kapoor is also likely to be involved in a creative capacity with the film, which is slated to go on floors in mid-2026.

### Production Timeline

Shraddha Kapoor is expected to begin shooting for director Laxman Utekar’s next film in November 2025. Upon wrapping up that project, she will finalize her commitment to *Pahadpangira* based on her schedule for 2026. A source told *mid-day*, “If things go as planned, the film could start by mid-2026.”

The actor was reportedly drawn to the story’s originality and its potential for franchise development, making it an exciting new venture in her career.

### Director’s Focus and Film Background

*Pahadpangira* was initially conceived as part of the *Tumbbad* universe, co-directed by Rahi Anil Barve and produced by Sohum Shah. However, after parting ways with Shah, Barve decided to develop *Pahadpangira* as a standalone film.

Currently, Barve is busy with his Netflix series *Rakt Bramhand* and plans to commence shooting for *Pahadpangira* once that project is completed.

The film is backed by Ektaa Kapoor, adding further strength to the production team.
