Did the U.S. Accidentally Invade Mexico? Military Cites ‘Confusion’ After Landing on Mexican Beach and Declaring It U.S. Property

The United States Department of Defense appeared to mistakenly declare a Mexican beach part of U. S. property. Signs appeared this week in both English and Spanish on the Mexico side of the border between the two countries, warning trespassers that the spot was “Department of Defense property” and declaring it a “restricted area” as directed by “the commander,” according to The Daily Beast. The incident, which took place on Monday, Nov. 17, was quickly framed as an “invasion” on social media. When Mexican Navy members arrived at the scene about 12 miles south of the U. S.-Mexico border, they removed the signs after determining that they had been wrongly placed there. Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mexican Ministry of the Navy released a joint statement confirming the removal of the signs, My San Antonio reported. “Acting on information received, naval personnel located and removed six warning signs placed at Playa Bagdad, Tamaulipas, as a preventative measure,” their statement read, according to an English translation. While they confirmed the signs had been taken down, they were not able to confirm who placed the signs on the beach. In a statement shared with PEOPLE, an official at Joint Base San Antonio a nearby U. S. military facility said that “contractors” placed the signs. “Changes in water depth and topography altered the perception of the international boundary’s location,” the statement said, noting that “Government of Mexico personnel removed 6 of the signs based on that perception of the international boundary’s location.” The JBSA official added that the contractors would “coordinate with appropriate agencies to avoid confusion in the future.” The signs appear to be connected to the military’s plans to establish a National Defense Area (NDA) along Hidalgo and Cameron counties on the border of Mexico. The area is part of efforts under President Donald Trump to “seal” the southern border. After visiting a newly established NDA in April, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told troops, “This is Department of Defense property. Any illegal [attempt] to enter that zone is entering a military base a federally protected area. You will be detained. You will be interdicted by U. S. troops and border patrol working together.” According to My San Antonio, officials said the NDA would be administered by the U. S. Air Force by Joint Base San Antonio. Paul Merson predicts Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur and other Premier League GW12 fixtures

The Premier League returns after an eventful international break which saw the likes of Curacao and Scotland qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Now it is all about top-flight football in England and we have some exciting stuff to look forward to this weekend. After Arsenal’s draw against Sunderland, it can’t be said that it is a foregone conclusion that Mikel Arteta and company will win the league title. But they are still favourites and I’ll tell you why. Manchester City are not far behind Arsenal, but they are so heavily reliant on Erling Haaland. Arsenal will have quite a few first team regulars missing through injury this weekend, and despite that, I expect them to field a very strong team against Nottingham Forest. No other team in the league can do the same, and that is the difference! Thanks for the submission! Arsenal have a big week coming up. After the derby at home to Tottenham, they face Bayern Munich in a match that will prove their credentials about winning the Champions League, before taking on another big London rival in Chelsea next weekend. This run will determine how far they can go this season. On that note, let us dive straight into my predictions for gameweek 12 in the Premier League. Burnley vs Chelsea When you come into a game like this after the international break, it’s so different than usual. We saw Liverpool lose to Nottingham Forest in a similar game after one of the international breaks last season. So it’s never an easy game to call. Burnley need to start winning games at home. But I just think Chelsea will be stronger all over the pitch and I expect the visitors to win. I would go with Liam Delap as the striker for this game and I’d stick to that even after Cole Palmer returns from injury. Palmer is someone who needs runners with him, that is why Nicolas Jackson was such a good option for Chelsea. If Joao Pedro plays as striker, he will drop deep and that will not free up enough space for Palmer to operate. Delap, on the other hand, is a willing runner and a proper number nine who will suit Palmer in my opinion. Only time will tell if Palmer can make it to England’s World Cup squad for next year though. He will have to come back from injury and hit the ground running straightaway. Palmer needs a run of form like the one he had when he first burst onto the scene at Chelsea. Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Chelsea Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest This is the exact fixture I was talking about earlier. Last September, Liverpool lost to Forest at Anfield after the international break. I know Forest are still second-bottom in the table, but they have kicked on a bit under Sean Dyche. They have only lost to Bournemouth in the last five games, which includes wins over Porto, Leeds and a draw against Manchester United. Forest have certainly enjoyed an uptick in terms of results. However, I just can’t see Liverpool not scoring in this game. Forest are not keeping a clean sheet at Anfield for sure! Florian Wirtz looked good for Germany in the international break. I know the opposition wasn’t the strongest, but he’s the top boy in Germany. Wirtz has the faith of the manager and goes out and expresses himself to the best of his abilities when he puts on that shirt. At Liverpool, he is always behind the eight ball. Last week against Manchester City, Wirtz looked like he had never played football before! Don’t get me wrong, I like him as a player. But if you pay over £100 million for a player and he does nothing in such a big game, that is a worrying sign for your team. Wirtz wasn’t the only one who did nothing in that game, but Liverpool paid the big bucks for him to take them to the next level. It’s obviously not his fault that they paid that amount of money, but the price-tag will always add to the expectations. I would actually start Wirtz in this game. If you play him against City at the Etihad, you have to start him against Forest at Anfield. He needs a run of games to get used to the intensity of the league. If someone else comes in for him and they score, then people will start questioning him again, which does no good for his confidence. Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Nottingham Forest Bournemouth vs West Ham United West Ham have done well in recent weeks. Consecutive wins over Newcastle and Burnley have given them a huge lift in the battle to avoid relegation. I just think this game away from home to Bournemouth is very tough though. I said earlier that I don’t see West Ham going down and I stand by it. But winning this game will be a bit of a stretch for them. Bournemouth are a team that must work really hard every single week to keep punching above their weight. They come into this game on the back of a couple of big losses. The defeat against City at the Etihad is understandable, but losing 4-0 against Aston Villa, that scoreline was a bit surprising. It just shows how tough and unpredictable the Premier League can be. I’m expecting Bournemouth to bounce back in style this weekend. Prediction: Bournemouth 3-0 West Ham United Wolves vs Crystal Palace Wolves’ new manager is finally here. Rob Edwards has a tough job on his hands to get them out of the relegation zone. This is not the easiest game when you take charge of a club like Wolves, but it is also not the toughest when you think about it! An ex-player coming back as manager to save them? The crowd will certainly be up for it. This is a cup final for Wolves. They have just two points in 11 matches and another loss here would be insult to injury. Even though the new manager coming in gives Wolves a slight chance, I can’t look beyond a Crystal Palace win in this game. Wolves fans will be praying for a miracle! Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Crystal Palace Brighton & Hove Albion vs Brentford I’m not too convinced about Brentford when they play away from home. They are one of the toughest teams to face on their home turf, but it’s a completely different story when they hit the road. Honestly, there really isn’t much between these sides, they are evenly-matched if you ask me. West Ham winning two games on the bounce has made the relegation battle tight at the bottom. Whoever loses this game will know they are only a couple of defeats away from being dragged into that battle to avoid the drop! If Brentford were playing at home, I would have backed them. I’m going with Brighton instead, purely because of home advantage. Prediction: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Brentford Fulham vs Sunderland Sunderland have been amazing, what an unbelievable start on their return to the Premier League. This is a game where Fulham need a result because they are playing at home and have not been great to watch in recent weeks. The defeat to Everton before the international break now means they sit just one point above the relegation zone. I admit that Fulham are not as bad as the table suggests, but every time I talk to their fans, most of them are worried about the possibility of going down and that isn’t a good sign. If they don’t win this game, they will be among the teams fearing the drop. Even though Fulham were poor against Everton, I’m backing them here. A lot of Sunderland fans will think I’m mad, but it’s what I really think. Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Sunderland Newcastle United vs Manchester City If Manchester City win this game, I will be thinking that should they keep all their main players fit, they can challenge Arsenal. Newcastle have not been at their best on home turf so far this season, but it is still one of the toughest fixtures in the league. If Eddie Howe’s team can play like they did against Liverpool, they have a chance at winning this game! Erling Haaland has been scoring goals for fun. But will that help him win the Ballon d’Or? The answer is no. No matter how many goals you score, it always comes down to your performance in the Champions League and City must win that trophy to give Haaland a strong chance to win the award. Nick Woltemade has also impressed me so far. I always wonder when players come to the Premier League, ‘if they were so good, why didn’t Bayern Munich want them?’. That is not the case with Woltemade, he’s showing why Bayern really wanted him to be their number nine. Woltemade reminds me of Peter Crouch. He is not just a target man, he can play with the ball and likes it being fed into his feet. Woltemade will cause problems to other teams every single week. If Newcastle’s midfield three can fire like last season, it will be perfect for him. Newcastle away is a tricky fixture right after the international break and that’s why I think City will drop points in this one. Prediction: Newcastle United 1-1 Manchester City Leeds United vs Aston Villa I worry for Leeds a bit. I look at their team and I don’t know who is going to give them that X-factor. Aston Villa have turned a massive corner in recent weeks and are one of the most in-form teams in the league. I’d be shocked if they lose this game. Ollie Watkins hasn’t really turned up so far this season. He does a lot of unselfish work for the team though. I don’t think that work will go unnoticed in the eyes of the manager. Hopefully, the goals can also follow soon. Leeds need to go out and sign someone who can bring the X-factor to their team in January, if they want to stay in the Premier League. An easy win for Villa here. Prediction: Leeds United 1-3 Aston Villa Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur This is the game! When I used to play for Arsenal, I used to ring my dad up and tell him when we’re playing Tottenham as soon as the fixtures were out. I know Liverpool and Manchester City are bigger opponents for Arsenal in the title race, but for the fans, this is the biggest game! Tottenham are top of the league table if you only consider form away from home. When Spurs are not the favourites and they sit back, absorb pressure and hit you on the break, they are a tricky team to face. If Arsenal were playing away from home, I would have given Tottenham no chance! Mikel Arteta also has to deal with injuries to some key players, so I don’t think this game is a straighforward win for Arsenal. Will Viktor Gyokeres be fit? Can Leandro Trossard make an impact like he did in the last game? There are so many questions to be answered. Arsenal vs Tottenham has always been one of the most entertaining matches in the Premier League. But I don’t think that will be the case here. I’m expecting a tight, cagey affair with Arsenal coming out on top in the end. Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur Manchester United vs Everton Manchester United are slowly starting to find some rhythm. I say that carefully because we wouldn’t have said this about them last season or the one before that. United have been quite bad in terms of stitching together a run of results, but there is a bit of hope now. Benjamin Sesko being ruled out does not help Everton because they would rather play against him. If Sesko played, Everton know what they are up against and how to mark him. When it’s Matheus Cunha playing that false-nine role, it’s entirely different. One second you’re looking at Cunha and the next thing you know it’s Bryan Mbeumo also working in tandem with him. With Sesko, United can only play one way and that would have been easier to deal with. Casemiro looks confident now and it is making a huge difference to Manchester United. I don’t want to take credit away from home, he’s won five Champions League trophies with Real Madrid, but he’s benefitting from the arrival of Cunha and Mbeumo. Teams are now aware of the threat that United have while going forward, so they are not keen on opening the game up. It has taken some pressure off Casemiro with teams constantly being bothered about the threat of those two players on the break. When the people around you start playing well, the mix becomes a good cocktail! I said Manchester United won’t beat Forest even though they were flying at the time. That draw was disappointing but I expect them to make amends with a win this weekend. Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Everton.

Stuut raises $29.5 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz to automate accounts receivable

I absolutely have, but if you haven’t-it’s a rollicking reality TV jaunt through some of the messiest jobs out there. There are rattlesnake catchers, sure, but there are also a deluge of examples of industrial jobs like pipefitting, car crushing, and concrete chipping. “Those are our customers,” Alaruri says proudly. Alaruri’s startup, Stuut, is in a messy business of its own-accounts receivable, the money due to a company for goods or services that have been delivered, but not yet been paid for. And there’s a reason Stuut focuses on those companies. In tech, companies tend to have “a big wad of cash in your bank account from VCs,” Alaruri said. But for many of Stuut’s customers, collecting payment is existential: “These companies actually need the revenue to pay bonuses. They actually need the revenue to pay holiday bonuses, and need to hire more people to scale their growth.” Alaruri cofounded Stuut (a name drawn from a South African rugby term meaning “prop” or “to hold up”) with Ben Winter and Miraj Mohsin in 2024. Stuut uses AI to automate accounts receivable, including invoice follow-up, tasks around payment reconciliation, and keeping human employees alerted. So far, Stuut’s customers have included Honeywell, PerkinElmer, Verifone, Wayfair, Active International, and Greenlight Guru. And to be abundantly clear: Alaruri is perfectly happy to work with tech companies, should they be interested. Now, Stuut has raised a $29. 5 million Series A, led by Andreessen Horowitz, Fortune has exclusively learned. Activant Capital, Khosla Ventures, 1984 Ventures, Carya Venture Partners, Page One Ventures, Vesey Ventures, and Valley Ventures participated in the round. Stuut and its customers are trying to solve an effectively universal problem: Companies can lose as much as 5% of EBITDA by tracking down payments manually. Stuut’s customer acquisition so far has come primarily from cold calls and network effects. And, compared to other businesses, it’s been a pretty easy pitch: I can automatically collect your money that you’re owed. And the ramp-up has been fast. “We technically started the business at the beginning of last year,” said Alaruri. “But I’d say Day One was really around November, December of last year. We started seeing impact. We had a company called CharterUp go live in two days, collect $3. 4 million, and see a 20% increase in collection.” These are also companies interested in their piece of the AI action-but need a product that fulfills its promises. “You have to be able to prove you can do what you say you’re going to do [with AI],” said Alaruri. “You look at the older wave of software and you have people promising automation-and they take 12, 18, 24 months to deploy. So it matters if you say ‘hey, we can save you 40% in six months, and we’ll get up and running next week,’ and you then can execute.” See you tomorrow, Allie Garfinkle X:@agarfinks Email: alexandra. garfinkle@fortuneletter here. Syria calls Netanyahu’s unannounced visit to Golan Heights ‘dangerous violation’ of sovereignty

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms that this visit represents a new attempt to impose a de facto situation that contradicts relevant U. N. Security Council resolutions, and falls within the framework of the occupation’s expansionist policies, entrenched aggression, and its continued violations of Syrian territory,” the statement said. Netanyahu and other Israeli officials visited the Golan Heights to show support to troops based at an outpost in the buffer zone between Israel and Syria. “Today I visited the Golan Heights area in Syria, received an operational briefing and met with the fighters bravely defending Israel every day,” Netanyahu wrote on X. “Proud of our fighters.” The prime minister said Israel’s presence in the Golan Heights has “immense importance,” as the nation’s military keeps its borders safe from outside attackers. In response, Syria called on its southern neighbor to withdraw its troops from all Syrian land and emphasized that “all actions taken by the occupation in southern Syria are null and void.” Therefore, according to Syria, Israel’s actions in the Golan Heights have no legal backing under international law. “The Ministry calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, curb the occupation’s practices, and compel it to fully withdraw from southern Syria in accordance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement,” Syria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said. “It also stresses that Syria will continue defending its sovereignty and its inalienable rights until the full restoration of its territory.” U. N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres similarly said the “very public visit is concerning” while calling on Israel to respect its end of the 1974 ceasefire agreement with Syria. Netanyahu went beyond the ceasefire line, which runs through the Golan Heights under the Israel-Syria ceasefire. UN APPROVES US-BACKED PEACE PLAN FOR GAZA, HAMAS SAYS PROPOSAL FAVORS ISRAELI OCCUPATION The agreement created a U. N.-patrolled buffer zone in the Golan Heights between the two countries. Israeli troops seized that area after the downfall of Bashar Assad last December. After fleeing to Russia, the former Syrian president was succeeded by Ahmed al Sharaa.

Mainz vs Hoffenheim Prediction and Betting Tips | November 21st 2025

Mainz will invite Hoffenheim to the Mewa Arena in the Bundesliga on Friday. The hosts have won just one of their 10 league games and are second-from-the-bottom in the league standings. Die Kraichgauer have fared much better with six wins, and they are sixth in the league table with 19 points. Thanks for the submission! Die Nullfünfer have endured a drop in form, and they are winless in their last six games in all competitions. They met Eintracht Frankfurt in their previous outing before the international break and fell to a 1-0 away loss. The visitors extended their winning streak in the league to four games earlier this month, defeating RB Leipzig 3-1. They conceded in the ninth minute, and goals from Albian Hajdari and Tim Lemperle later in the first half helped them overturn the deficit. Grischa Prömel added the goal after the break. Leipzig had two goals overturned by VAR. Mainz vs Hoffenheim Head-to-Head and Key Numbers The two teams have squared off 34 times in all competitions. The hosts have a narrow lead in the head-to-head record with 15 wins. Die Kraichgauer have 10 wins, and nine games have ended in draws. Both teams registered 2-0 home wins in their league meetings last season. The visitors have outscored Die Nullfünfer 21-8 in 10 league games thus far. Mainz have won just two of their eight games in all competitions, with both registered at home in the UEFA Conference League. Hoffenheim are unbeaten on their travels in the Bundesliga this season, winning four of the five games. The visitors have scored three goals apiece in their last four league games. The hosts have lost just one of their last five league games while recording three wins. Mainz vs Hoffenheim Prediction Die Nullfünfer head into the match in poor form, losing five of their last six league games. Notably, they are unbeaten in their last five home games in this fixture, recording four consecutive wins. Anthony Caci and Maxim Dal will miss this match due to injuries. Nadiem Amiri is back in training but is a major doubt alongside Andreas Hanche-Olsen. Die Kraichgauer have lost just one of their last five games, with that defeat registered against FC St. Pauli on penalties in the DFB-Pokal second round. Thirteen of their 21 goals in the Bundesliga this season have been scored on their travels. Adam Hlozek and Koki Machida are the two confirmed absentees for the visitors. Considering the current form of the two teams and the visitors’ recent goalscoring form, we back Die Kraichgauer to register a win here. Prediction: Mainz 1-2 Hoffenheim Mainz vs Hoffenheim Betting Tips Tip 1: Result Hoffenheim to win Tip 2: Goals Over/Under 2. 5 Goals Over 2. 5 goals Tip 3: Both teams to score Yes Tip 4: At least one goal to be scored in the second half Yes.

Trump Organization, Dar Global Reveal World’s First Tokenized Luxury Hotel in Maldives

The Trump Organization has teamed up with a Saudi Arabian partner, Dar Global, to launch a luxury resort in the Maldives, exploring a new way to invest in luxury real estate through tokenization. With this initiative, the company is giving investors the chance to be part of premium development projects from the very beginning. Read on to know more about the details. First Tokenized Luxury Project In a latest press release, Dar Global, a London-listed luxury real estate developer, and The Trump Organization announced two significant milestones. According to their joint statement, they are unveiling the Trump International Hotel Maldives, marking the brand’s very first property in the Maldives, and the launch of the world’s first tokenized hotel development tied to the project. Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization said that this will set a new benchmark for innovation in real estate investment through tokenization. Ziad El Chaar, CEO of Dar Global, said that tokenising Trump International Hotel Maldives will mark a global first, that combines luxury, innovation, and technology, transforming how the world invests in hospitality. Trump Brand Expands in Gulf This development comes as President Trump and his family continue to expand their presence in the global crypto space. According to a report from Bloomberg, this project is part of a series of developments by Dar Global and the Trump Organization under the Trump brand. Most of these projects are in the Gulf region, including Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. Dar Global is building Trump Towers in Jeddah and Dubai, and is collaborating with the Trump Organization on resorts, luxury homes, and golf courses in Qatar and Oman. Gio Reyna scores as U.S. beats Paraguay in Chester

Gio Reyna scored in his first international start in 16 months to surpass his father’s career goal tally, then set up Folarin Balogun’s tiebreaking goal in the 71st minute to lead the United States over Paraguay 2-1 on Saturday night in a friendly between World Cup-bound teams. The match also sparked a late brawl.

During second-half stoppage time, American defender Alex Freeman and Paraguay captain Diego Gómez both reached for a ball that rolled out of play, leading to a scuffle as players from both benches joined in. Paraguay’s Omar Alderete, who was not on the field, received a red card, while American midfielder Cristian Roldan was given a yellow card.

Playing just two days after his 23rd birthday, the often-injured Reyna scored in the fourth minute of his first start for club or country since September 14, marking only his second start since March 1. However, Álex Arce capitalized on a defensive lapse to equalize for Paraguay in the 10th minute. Diego Luna’s impact came soon after, as a forced turnover led to the go-ahead goal for the U.S.

Juan Cáceres tried to regain possession and knocked the ball toward Balogun, who then passed to Reyna. The midfielder took a touch and centered the ball, which deflected off Paraguay’s Damián Bobadilla, allowing Balogun to score from seven yards out. This marked Balogun’s eighth goal for the U.S. and his third in four matches. Max Arsten collected his team-high fifth assist of 2025, helping the U.S. extend its unbeaten streak to four games.

With time running out for U.S. players to impress coach Mauricio Pochettino, the Americans — ranked 16th — will face No. 15 Uruguay on Tuesday, followed by two more friendlies in March before the World Cup roster announcement.

Reyna had not started a game for the U.S. since the 2024 Copa America. His goal came after shots from Sergiño Dest and Cristian Roldan were blocked following Arsten’s corner kick. Arsten’s cross found Reyna, whose header from eight yards grazed the outstretched fingertips of goalkeeper Orlando Gill and went in off the crossbar. Notably, this was Reyna’s first professional headed goal.

With this goal, Reyna has now scored nine times in 33 international appearances, surpassing his father Claudio Reyna’s tally of eight goals in 112 games. Claudio was the U.S. captain at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.

Paraguay, ranked 39th and making their first World Cup appearance since 2010, equalized earlier when Junior Alonso played a long ball behind Dest to Miguel Almirón, who delivered a cross. Álex Arce outpaced Miles Robinson and headed the ball off a hop, beating U.S. goalkeeper Matt Freese with an open header for his first international goal.

The U.S. lineup was missing key players Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Chris Richards, and Antonee Robinson. Joe Scally started alongside Miles Robinson and Tim Ream in a three center-back formation the U.S. adopted in September, with Dest as right wingback and Arsten on the left.

Roldan and Tanner Tessmann anchored the midfield, while Reyna and Brenden Aaronson played advanced midfield roles behind Balogun leading the attack. Both Freese and Aaronson are products of the Philadelphia Union and appeared in the stadium of their hometown team.

After ‘Wicked: For Good,’ ‘Fountain of Youth’ and Mr. Beast Shoots, Egypt Seeks to Attract More Foreign Productions

The Egypt Film Commission (EFC) is actively working to boost foreign productions shooting in Egypt, building on recent high-profile projects filmed across the country. Notable examples include Guy Ritchie’s *Fountain of Youth* at the Giza Pyramids, Neil Burger’s espionage thriller *Inheritance* in Cairo, Jon M. Chu’s *Wicked: For Good*, and MrBeast’s viral online video, *I Spent 100 Hours Inside the Pyramids*.

Line production in Egypt for these projects was managed by leading local companies: ASAP Productions, Hama Film Productions, Misr International Films, and Filmedia LLC, respectively. ASAP Productions also contributed to part of season one of the Paramount series *The Agency*, which filmed in Cairo in 2024. The company’s executive producer, Amin El Masr, states he is actively seeking new international productions to work on.

Filmedia handled *Wicked: For Good*, including a four-day shoot at Egypt’s stunning White Desert National Park. Previously, the company line produced part of the prologue for Colin Trevorrow’s *Jurassic World: Dominion* (2020), which was overseen by VFX supervisor Pablo Helman. Ahmed Kardous, CEO and co-founder of Filmedia, expressed deep gratitude to Universal Pictures for their continued trust and revealed that discussions are underway on several new international projects.

The EFC notably secured special access to the Giza Pyramids for MrBeast’s 21-minute internet show, which garnered an impressive 43 million views within 24 hours and has since accumulated over 200 million views on YouTube. Since its inception in 2019, the EFC has supported more than 90 international productions.

“This momentum reflects the country’s unparalleled historical landscapes, diverse urban backdrops, and highly capable production services,” said Ahmed Badawi, EFC’s managing director. “A growing number of production companies from the United States, as well as leading studios and independent producers from Italy, India, China, Kuwait, and other countries across Europe, Asia, and the Gulf region, have expressed strong interest in filming here. This reflects Egypt’s unique combination of cinematic landscapes, world-renowned heritage sites, experienced local crews, and our competitive facilitation environment.”

The EFC’s activities align with a broader government strategy to raise international awareness of Egypt’s cultural assets. This strategy includes major initiatives such as the recent opening of the $1 billion Grand Egyptian Museum, a landmark showcasing the country’s rich history.

The EFC operates as a subsidiary of the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), established 25 years ago and spanning 2 million square meters (12.5 million square feet). The EMPC is regarded as the largest media and production hub in the Middle East, equipped with sound studios and extensive backlots.

To further attract productions, the EMPC offers a 30% cashback scheme for eligible on-site expenditures. Ahmed Badawi also revealed that the EFC is in active discussions with government authorities to introduce broader production incentives for off-site and location-based spending throughout Egypt.

Positioning itself as a one-stop shop for filming in the country, the EFC facilitates shooting permits and acts as a liaison between international producers and local line producers, streamlining the production experience.

Other noteworthy recent international shoots in Egypt include Barbara Schulz’s *Treasure Hunters: On the Tracks of Khufu*, featured in the climate change documentary *Groundswell*, as well as segments of the Belgian eight-episode crime series *The Big Fuck-Up*, starring Willem De Schryver and directed by Wim Geudens.

To strengthen collaboration with Asian and African film markets, the EFC recently signed Memorandums of Understanding with China’s Ory Group and the African Film Finance Forum. These agreements aim to position Egypt as a central hub for regional co-productions.

In March 2025, the EFC held meetings with India’s Joint Secretary Minister of Information and representatives from United Media Services to explore enhanced media and film collaborations between Egypt and India.

Recent Asian productions filmed in Egypt include the Korean TV show *Hit and Miss Tour 3* and the Chinese film *Welcome to Dragon Restaurant*, directed by Wen Muye (*Dying to Survive*).

As part of its international campaign to attract foreign productions, the EFC collaborated with the Cairo International Film Festival and the El Gouna Film Festival to present a unified Egyptian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The pavilion was notably awarded the Best Pavilion Design Award, further highlighting Egypt’s growing prominence on the global film stage.
