Michael J. Fox Name-Drops Back to the Future Co-Star Who Caused ‘Tension’ on Set

Michael J. Fox’s new memoir, *Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space Time Continuum*, has shed light on some behind-the-scenes moments from the iconic film *Back to the Future*. Among the stories shared, Fox reveals how his co-star Crispin Glover caused some trouble on set with his unconventional approach to the role of George McFly.

In the book, the *Family Ties* star recalls the challenges the crew faced trying to keep Glover in the planned blocking during filming. According to Fox, Glover often wandered out of the camera lane, making it difficult for the crew to keep him framed properly.

“Nobody puts Crispin in a box. But that didn’t prevent the camera crew from literally building a box around him,” Fox writes while describing one particular scene. He explains how Glover was supposed to stay between a clothesline and himself as the camera rolled, but the actor had a different idea.

“My guess is that he saw George as a wanderer, a free spirit who traveled in random patterns—in this case, perpendicular to the camera,” Fox observes.

To manage the situation, a crew member fabricated a miniature corral made of sandbags and C-stands, effectively trapping Glover into the shot’s required parameters.

Despite the chaos caused by Glover’s unpredictable antics, Fox expresses admiration for his co-star. He calls Glover’s performance “downright hypnotic” and shares that he genuinely enjoyed working with him, even when his methods created friction on set.

“I loved working with him. His talent was unquestionable, although his methods sometimes created friction. Still, I respected how he remained true to George (as he understood and embodied him),” Fox writes.

Showing the respect and appreciation he holds for Glover, Fox even sent a heartfelt letter to him while working on his memoir:

“Your performance is richer and deeper every time I see it. In fact, I skip over my bits to watch yours,” the letter reads. “Granted, we didn’t talk much during production, so I never had the chance to say that you are a brilliant actor, and I was thrilled to work with you.”

Browns QB Dillon Gabriel’s NSFW reaction to being hit 16 times by Steelers

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel faced the ultimate trial by fire in Week 6, as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense overwhelmed him in a 23-9 loss at Acrisure Stadium. The rookie signal-caller, making just his second career start, absorbed 16 hits and six sacks. The Cleveland offense failed to score a single touchdown for the third time this season.

According to ESPN metrics, the Browns’ offensive line ranks 27th in pass protection, making Gabriel one of the league’s most pressured QBs. Head coach Kevin Stefanski defended keeping Gabriel in the game, saying the entire coaching staff shares blame for the protection breakdowns.

ShackStream: The Messenger on The Stevetendo Show! Episode 636

Tonight on The Stevetendo Show, we’re diving back into our playthrough of *The Messenger*. This game feels like a unique blend of old-school platforming, reminiscent of *Ninja Gaiden*, mixed with Metroidvania elements. This is my first time playing *The Messenger*, and so far, I’ve really enjoyed the experience.

One gameplay mechanic I especially like is the ability to jump between 8-bit and 16-bit graphics styles. It adds an engaging visual twist that keeps the gameplay fresh. However, one drawback I’ve noticed is the inability to attack upwards, which can be a bit frustrating at times.

In the last episode, we managed to find more music notes needed to unlock the music box inside the Tower of Time. Tracking down these keys has proven to be quite a challenge, but thankfully, we can save up our currency to pay for hints on their locations, which helps a lot.

NBA 2K26 Season 2 Brings Iconic Songs from Past Games to the Soundtrack

NBA 2K26 Season 2 will add iconic songs from previous 2K games to its soundtrack, hitting fans with a dose of nostalgia while showcasing the series’ history of delivering memorable tunes for players to enjoy while hooping. I recently caught up with David Kelley, the Director of Global Partnerships & Licensing for the NBA 2K series, to discuss his team’s work in assembling the perfect basketball soundtrack. The following questions and answers were exchanged over email between myself and a representative for David Kelley.

Shacknews: What’s the process like when it comes to selecting which songs make the cut for a new NBA 2K game? Do you ever run into issues getting licenses for songs that you want?

David Kelley: We approach every soundtrack as a reflection of both basketball and culture. Our 2K Music team, composed of myself, Richie Menchavez, and Simon Weedn, all almost literally eat, sleep, and breathe music to build something that feels true to the moment and to our community.

We all come from different walks within the music industry—artists, DJs, managers, music supervisors, live events, studio engineers, composers—so we are able to bring a really well-rounded and unique perspective. We work closely with our development team at Visual Concepts to find new, dynamic ways music can enhance the NBA 2K experience.

With additional support from Take-Two’s world-class music team, we’re able to tap into incredible expertise across the board. Of course, licensing is a huge part of that process. We work with incredible partners like Fox Sound Studios and have long-standing relationships with labels, publishers, and artists around the world.

There are always songs we wish we could include that, for one reason or another, don’t clear in time but that’s part of the fun and challenge. The passion our team has for music keeps us pushing until the soundtrack feels right.

Shacknews: The popularity of some songs is short-lived. Are there ever any concerns that players will grow tired of certain tracks, particularly ones tied to viral trends or cultural moments?

Kelley: That’s definitely something we think about, which is why NBA 2K’s live service model has been a game-changer for us. We refresh the soundtrack every six weeks, which allows us to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in music right now.

Shacknews: There’s an old Drake lyric that goes, “I swear sports and music are so synonymous, ’cause we want to be them, and they want to be us.” Can you talk about the relationship between music and basketball, and how it informs your work on NBA 2K?

Kelley: That lyric nails it. Basketball and music are indelibly linked. The culture around the game goes hand-in-hand with the sound that fuels it. Players walk into the arena with headphones on, artists sit courtside at games, etc. — it’s all one ecosystem of creativity.

When we’re building the NBA 2K soundtrack, we think about how a track feels in that context. Music amplifies those emotional beats of the game, and our job is to make sure every track supports that energy. NBA 2K26 Season 2’s new Greatest Hits soundtrack really captures that philosophy.

It doesn’t matter when a song was released, who’s behind it, or where they are from; if the song captures the energy that resonates with our community, we want our audience to hear it in NBA 2K.

Shacknews: There’s a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in the 2K soundtracks of years past. How many of the “greatest hits” are you bringing back for Season 2 of NBA 2K26? What songs immediately jumped out as ones you had to bring back?

Kelley: We’re bringing back a mix of iconic tracks that have defined the NBA 2K experience over the years. Without giving away the full list yet, there are some unmistakable records from both classic and newer artists.

The selection process was guided heavily by community feedback. Fans have been incredibly vocal about which songs they still associate with certain eras of NBA 2K, and that passion made it easy to see what belonged on the Greatest Hits list.

This season really is a celebration and a chance to honor the music that shaped the game’s identity while introducing those classics to a whole new generation of players.

ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X: The long-awaited Xbox handheld is almost here

Late last week, I attended an ASUS preview event for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. I spent a little over an hour with both products, focusing most of my playtime on the ROG Xbox Ally X.

The ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X truly feel like the long-awaited Xbox handheld that people have been clamoring for over many years. With so many handheld devices already supported in the current console ecosystem, it can be tough to decide on yet another handheld—especially with the upcoming Switch 2, PlayStation Portal, and the Steam Deck all vying for attention.

Even the original Switch still boasts a plethora of games confirmed for it, which has led many to hesitate on purchasing the Switch 2 until more exclusives are released for Nintendo’s latest console.

Handheld consoles have been my major timesink since I was young, but over the years, many devices have felt less than optimal for extended play sessions—often leading to aching hands or sweaty palms. Getting my literal hands on the ROG Xbox Ally X felt incredibly natural. The contours and shaping fit perfectly. It seemed as if ASUS had taken an Xbox Wireless Controller’s grips and placed them onto the ROG Ally to create the ROG Xbox Ally.

Having tried the Steam Deck before, I initially liked its handling, but I was hesitant because I knew my hands would likely cramp or ache due to its grip shape. I remember needing to switch hands every few minutes because of its unwieldiness. With the ROG Xbox Ally X, however, it felt comfortable—nice to hold for longer periods without fatigue.

The first game I tried on the ROG Xbox Ally was *Hades*. Although I had never played it before, it ran extremely smoothly, allowing me to keep pace with the enemies, projectiles, and environments throughout each room I completed.

On the ROG Xbox Ally, available games included *Hades*, *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, *Balatro*, and *Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4*—mostly less graphically intensive titles. I attempted to launch *Hollow Knight: Silksong*, but Wi-Fi issues at the event prevented me from getting it running. This was unfortunate since I have over 80 hours in *Silksong* and was eager to see how it would perform compared to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Moving on to the ROG Xbox Ally X, the available titles included *Doom: The Dark Ages* and *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, both more graphically demanding games.

Initially, *Doom: The Dark Ages* experienced stuttering and lag. However, after tweaking a few settings—turning off ray tracing and path tracing—it ran excellently. I’m not particularly obsessive about frames per second or graphical fidelity, but it was impressive to see a recent *Doom* entry running steadily at 120 FPS in my hands. Honestly, my eyes probably wouldn’t have noticed much difference if I had opted for 60 FPS instead.

For comparison, I played *Pokémon Unite* for hundreds of hours before discovering I was actually playing it at 30 FPS, not the 60 FPS many players enjoyed.

Next, I tried *Expedition 33* on the Ally X. I ran around quickly, skipping dialogue where possible, to reach an early one-on-one fight scenario and test the timing of the counter mechanic—a feature known to be challenging on handhelds due to timing precision.

Getting accustomed to the gameplay mechanics and parries, I tackled the fight again and landed counters with impressive precision—including a triple counter during an enemy onslaught. The timing had little margin for error, yet I was able to seamlessly decipher my foe’s openings.

The ROG Xbox Ally X excels and shines in its lightweight design, handling, grip, contours, and grooves—making it well-suited for extended play sessions. Its large battery life also supports longer usage without interruption. Physically, it represents a massive upgrade from the original ROG Ally and even the ROG Ally X, primarily due to these ergonomic improvements.

Additionally, the Ally X can be connected to a large television screen for console-style play, although I only had the chance to experience it in handheld mode during the event.

Overall, the ROG Xbox Ally X feels like the handheld Xbox fans have been waiting for, blending powerful performance with thoughtful, comfortable design.
