South Korean retail giant Coupang to compensate $1.1 billion to affected users over data breach

South Korean online retail giant Coupang has announced it will offer 1.69 trillion South Korean won (approximately $1.17 billion) in compensation to users affected by a massive data breach disclosed last month.

In a statement released Monday (local time), the company revealed plans to provide customers with purchase vouchers worth 50,000 won. These vouchers can be used for various Coupang services.

Coupang also stated that users will be able to check their eligibility for the vouchers starting January 15, according to a Google translation of the original Korean statement.
