The new OWC StudioStack brings SSD speeds close to Apple’s fastest to Macs, pairing a Thunderbolt 5 hub with up to 32TB of storage.
OWC has introduced the StudioStack, a new Thunderbolt 5 enclosure designed to expand the storage and port options of Apple’s desktop Macs, especially the Mac Studio and Mac mini. This latest addition fits neatly underneath pre-M4 redesign Mac mini or Mac Studio models, providing a convenient and powerful expansion solution.
The StudioStack connects via Thunderbolt 5 but remains backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 systems, ensuring wide-ranging usability across different Mac generations.
According to OWC, when paired with a compatible NVMe SSD, the StudioStack can achieve speeds up to 6,302 MB/s. This performance approaches the speed of Apple’s fastest internal drives and exceeds most external options available on the market.
The enclosure supports one NVMe M.2 SSD alongside one 3.5-inch SATA drive, offering a combined storage capacity of up to 32TB. This makes it ideal for professionals seeking high-speed, high-capacity external storage.
