2025 World Series: Blue Jays Tie Series with a Win Over Dodgers
Last night, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, putting up a four-spot against Shohei Ohtani and leveling the World Series at two games apiece. It’s been clear that having Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the lineup makes a huge difference for Toronto.
Tonight marks the final game in Los Angeles, which arguably adds a bit more pressure on the Dodgers to secure a win on their home turf. However, winning Game Five is crucial for either team regardless of location.
Dodgers minority owner and Los Angeles legend Magic Johnson highlighted the significance of tonight’s matchup on Twitter:
With the Series being 2-2, Game 5 is very important. Whichever team wins takes control of the Series! — Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) October 29, 2025

Pitching Matchup
Los Angeles Dodgers: Blake Snell, LHP
Blake Snell has been outstanding through four postseason starts so far. Although the Blue Jays were able to score against him at home in Game One of the World Series, Snell will have the home-field advantage tonight at Dodger Stadium. Interestingly, due to scheduling, this will be Snell’s first home start in nearly a month—the last being back on September 30 during the Wild Card Series when he dominated the Reds.
Snell’s numbers are impressive: he has allowed one or zero runs in 48.7% of his career MLB starts (including postseason), the highest percentage of any pitcher with at least 200 combined regular season and postseason starts in the modern era (since 1901).

Toronto Blue Jays: Trey Yesavage, RHP
Trey Yesavage’s rapid rise to the World Series stage is an incredible story. Drafted in 2024, Yesavage began his professional career this season at Low-A and swiftly advanced through every minor league level before debuting in the majors in mid-September. Now, he’s starting in the World Series.
This will be Yesavage’s fifth postseason start. No other pitcher has made three postseason starts within his first eight overall appearances (regular season plus postseason). Impressively, he is on track to become the first pitcher in MLB history to start multiple World Series games within his first eight career appearances.
