**Elderly Man Assaulted by Youths in Azhikode Over Minor Traffic Dispute**

Azhikode (Kerala): In a disturbing incident reported from Azhikode, a 77-year-old man named Balakrishnan was brutally assaulted and verbally abused by a group of youths following a dispute over not giving way to a car. The shocking attack has garnered widespread attention after a video of the assault went viral on social media.

**Details of the Incident**

The assault took place on Sunday evening at around 4 pm, right in front of Balakrishnan’s residence on Shivaji Road, Mundachali, Azhikkal. According to the victim, while he was sitting inside his car, two young men approached him, asked something, and suddenly struck him on the back of his head without any apparent reason.

Balakrishnan later came to understand that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement related to not moving his car out of the way. “There was space for another car to pass. I still don’t know why they assaulted me,” he stated.

**Attack Captured on Video**

The video footage circulating on social media shows two youths punching, pushing, and slapping the elderly man while hurling verbal abuses. Another young man was seen recording the entire incident, which further spread the video online.

**Repeated Confrontation**

The victim also revealed that about half an hour after the initial attack, the same youths confronted him again near a shop by the Azhikkal Boat Bridge, where they assaulted him once more. Additional footage showing one of the youths threatening Balakrishnan in front of his house has also surfaced.

**Police Action**

Balakrishnan has reportedly claimed that he does not know the attackers and remains clueless about their motive. The assailants are believed to be between 20 and 25 years of age.

The Valappattanam police have registered a case against one individual in connection with the assault and are actively investigating the matter.
