Family of Shah Bano SLAMS Haq makers for ‘distorting facts’, alleges invasion of privacy: “If the film is based only on the case, then…”

Jubair Ahmad Khan, grandson of Shah Bano Begum, has voiced strong objections to the upcoming film Haq, which is based on the landmark 1985 Supreme Court case Mohd Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum. Speaking to ANI, Jubair alleged that the film was made without the consent of Shah Bano’s family and that the teaser ‘distorts’ several facts, infringing on the family’s right to privacy. Shah Bano, whose legal battle brought significant changes to maintenance laws for divorced Muslim women, remains a deeply personal figure for the family. Jubair criticized the filmmakers for allegedly commercializing the family’s private struggles without seeking permission. “Anything that happens affects us as a family. They didn’t ask us anything,” he said. He alleged discrepancies in the teaser, adding, “A lot of facts in the teaser are distorted. It is our private matter that has been given a commercial angle. Common people watching the movie will think it shows true events, but it does not.”Responding to the legal petition filed by his mother, Siddiqua Begum Khan, which seeks a stay on the release of Haq, producer’s lawyer Ajay Bagadiya stated that the film contains a disclaimer clarifying it is inspired by the Supreme Court judgment and a book titled ‘Bano, Bharat ki Beti’. Bagadiya emphasized that it is a fictionalized portrayal and not obliged to present events factually. He also questioned the legitimacy of the petitioner’s claim of being Shah Bano’s daughter, stating that there is no confirmation. Jubair contested this defense, highlighting that the teaser conflicts with the stated basis of the film. He noted that while the book focuses on the Supreme Court case, the film includes broader aspects of Shah Bano’s life not covered by the case law. “If the film is based only on the case, then it should show the court proceedings. But in the teaser and trailer, you can see it is completely different from the true event,” he explained. The family’s legal notice previously urged the filmmakers to halt all publication, screening, promotion, and release activities for Haq, accusing them of unauthorized use of personal life details. The film Haq, set to release on November 7, 2025, stars Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam and is directed by Suparn S. Verma under Junglee Pictures. BREAKING: Ranbir Kapoor’s Love And War bows out of Eid 2026 clash with Yash’s Toxic; to release post June 2026

Earlier in the morning, Yash and the producers of Toxic reconfirmed that the fairy tale for adults will hit the big screen as scheduled in March 2026, coinciding with the Eid 2026 period. But in a shocking turn of events, the industry is buzzing with reports on the delay of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, Love and War. Reliable sources confirm that Love and War will be missing its Eid 2026 deadline, thereby averting the clash with Yash’s epic, Toxic.”It’s a blessing in disguise, as it made no sense for two Pan-Indian films to clash on the same date. Love And War is running much behind its shooting schedule, and will now release in the second half of 2026. Around 75 days of shoot still remains, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has requested Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal to allot bulk dates till Summer 2026 to wrap up the film,” a reliable source told Bollywood Hungama. Love And War is sure to miss the Eid 2026 deadline. “The film is running approximately. 40 days behind schedule, and the earliest it can now be released is in the month of June 2026. Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will take a call on the film’s release soon and officially announce the delay in its release.”The delay in Love And War also averts the off-screen clash of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, before their on-screen rivalry in Ramayana. And contrary to the speculations, it’s Ranbir who is not arriving on Eid, and not Yash, who is on track to bring his action romance in March 2026. “Toxic is on schedule, and the makers are super confident of their product. It’s one of those rare Indian films to be shot in Kannada and English.”More details on the release of Love And War are kept under wraps.

Ayan Mukerji steps back from Dhoom 4; shifts his focus on Brahmastra 2 with Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt

After the debacle of War 2, director Ayan Mukerji has decided to take a backseat as the director of Dhoom 4. Sources close to the development confirm that Ayan has backed off from Dhoom 4 and, in a closed-door conversation with Aditya Chopra, conveyed his reservation. “Ayan believes that films like War 2 and Dhoom 4 were never meant for him, and he wants to do something a lot wider with scope for romance, drama with spectacle vibes and storytelling,” an insider told Bollywood Hungama. The insider informed Bollywood Hungama, “Ayan was just executing what was written on paper by Shridhar Raghavan, and had little say on the script and screenplay. He does not want to be on another journey of just execution, as he is a passionate filmmaker who prefers to exclusively work on the written material and bring more to the screen than what’s written.”The source also confirms that the decision to step back from Dhoom 4 has been taken after a series of conversations with Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. “Both Chopra and Kapoor understood Ayan’s point of view and have parted ways on the right note. Ayan is now working on Brahmastra 2 and will take the film on floors in 2026. The writing work is concluded, and some polishing is going on during his stay in the Himalayas.”Aditya Chopra is meanwhile exploring more direction options. “Insiders at YRF have also suggested that the boss direct the new Dhoom film himself, as Ranbir has already allotted his dates for the new Dhoom film.” A lot more drama will unfold in the days to come.
