FFXI Congestion Measures Coming to Bahamut World

Square Enix is dealing with congestion issues in another Final Fantasy MMORPG, and this time it means measures are being taken to make it easier for FFXI folks to play on the Bahamut World and try to more evenly distribute traffic among servers. As a result, Producer and Director Yoji Fujito announced three measures will be enacted starting on October 9, 2025, in the hopes it will help with the population density and demand. Fugito said three steps will be taken. The two major ones keep us from playing on the Bahamut World in FFXI, as they limit access to the server to prevent congestion. People who dont already have characters there will not be able to make new characters on that World. It will also not be possible to use the Character World Transfer Service to move an existing character to there. To also incentivize playing and starting on other servers, Square Enix is halting the Vanadiel Adventurer Recruitment Program promotion, which nets you things like the Copper AMAN Vouchers, Guild Beret, and Sprout Beret for giving out Gold World Passes to get friends to play, on Bahamut. This marks two FFXI Worlds that are now subject to the congestion measures, as Asura already experienced these kinds of initiatives. Square Enix announced the population boom negatively affected player experience on that server back in July 2025. As a result, it carried out these same initiatives. Yoji Fujito noted that World is also still experiencing issues and, as a result, is still under the same limits. There are 23 Worlds available in the game, which are servers the MMORPG players can create characters on or move to. Asura, which filled up first in 2025, is the newest. Bahamut is among the oldest ones currently active. Final Fantasy XI is available for PCs, and the Bahamut World will experience congestion mitigation initiatives starting on October 9, 2025.
