Judge orders Trump administration to pay full SNAP benefits for November by Friday

A federal judge on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to pay full SNAP benefits for November by Friday, rejecting the administration’s plan to partially fund the food stamp program for 42 million Americans.

“People have gone without for too long,” Judge Jack McConnell said during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Rhode Island as he issued the order.

The decision came after plaintiffs in the case urged Judge McConnell to reject the administration’s proposed plan for partial benefits. The Trump administration had announced last week that it would not use a congressionally authorized contingency fund containing $4.65 billion to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Like other federal programs, SNAP had no current appropriation because Congress has not approved a stopgap funding bill to reopen the U.S. government. As a result, the payment of full benefits was in question until the judge’s order.

The ruling ensures that millions of Americans who rely on SNAP will receive their full benefits for November.

Clovis unveils news plaza honoring its first woman mayor, Peg Bos

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — The city of Clovis is taking time to honor its past.

On Wednesday, community leaders unveiled a new plaza at 3rd Street and Sunnyside Avenue. The plaza is named after Peg Bos, the first woman to serve as mayor of Clovis.

Bos was a driving force behind reviving the Clovis Big Dry Creek Historical Society and Museum, where she served as president for 20 years.

She was also in attendance for Wednesday’s ceremony, along with several family members.

In addition to her contributions to the community, you can catch her weekly column called “Let’s Talk Clovis” in the Clovis Roundup newspaper.

Fr. Heimerl: Of course the Blessed Mother is ‘Co-Redemptrix’

**Fr. Heimerl: Of Course the Blessed Mother is ‘Co-Redemptrix’**

*By Fr. Joachim Heimerl | LifeSite News | November 6, 2025*

Is the Blessed Virgin Mary “Co-Redemptrix” and “Mediatrix of Grace”? Of course she is, I would say. It was only through Mary’s “Fiat” that the one true redemption through her Son became possible, and it was only through her that God gave us the fullness of grace in Jesus Christ.

The pious tradition of the Church has always known this and always understood it correctly. No one would seriously have thought of “deifying” Mary or denying Christ’s unique mediatorship.

When an ambiguous figure like the current prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has nothing better to do than to cast the Marian devotion of the faithful in a supposedly negative light, it says far less about the Blessed Virgin than it does about those who engage in such behavior. The fact that they do so with the “blessing” of the Pope does not make things any better but only illustrates what is really going on behind the scenes. This is nothing less than the establishment of a new “Catholic” Church and a new “Catholic” faith.

Much progress has been made along this path, and only the naivety of those who believe that only truth and goodness can come from Rome has made this work of destruction possible, which, in turn, has only one goal: to bring the Church closer to Protestantism.

With the introduction of the “new Mass” by the unfortunate Pope Paul VI, all the dams broke. We remember with horror Pope Francis’ admission that the traditional Mass of the last 2,000 years no longer fits the (new) faith of the (new) Church.

Only a pope who could make such abominable statements could also be capable of “blessing” sinful relationships and denying the indissolubility of marriage, according to the Protestant model.

Without a doubt, the sellout of the Catholic faith will continue along these lines: the downgrading of the Mass and the other sacraments will not end until women are allowed to enter holy orders through the back door.

To make this possible, a downgrading of the Blessed Virgin is necessary, and this is precisely what the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, under its current prefect, has been working on for some time, as we know.

I am certain that we have not yet reached the peak of the destruction of the Church. It will probably gain momentum under Leo XIV, who is increasingly identifying himself as the “successor” to Francis and who, let’s be honest, is ultimately just as much his creature as the questionable prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The enemies of the Church have always been the enemies of the Blessed Virgin, and they alone are the ones who applaud the latest Vatican statement. Even “theological” fig leaves cannot hide this fact.

The true children of the true Church, on the other hand, hold fast to their devout veneration of the Blessed Virgin and profess: Yes, Mary is Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix of Grace, and she is so in the way that the saints have always taught correctly and unambiguously.

On the other hand, we can confidently dispense with the alleged “corrections” of the current prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, even if they are made with the approval of Leo XIV.

Portland is not a serious city

**Portland Police Hamstrung by 2020-Era Reforms Amid Rising Homelessness and Unrest**

Homelessness in Portland’s Multnomah County has surged by 67% over the past two years, reaching a total of more than 10,500 individuals. In response, the Portland metro area allocated upwards of $724 million to homeless programs in 2024, with Multnomah County alone accounting for half a billion dollars of that funding.

Despite these substantial investments, Portland remains focused on keeping the National Guard out of the city. During the periods of unrest when rioters targeted federal facilities, Portland police were prohibited from assisting federal law enforcement in maintaining order. Instead, the city attorney was assigned to initiate legal action against the federal government regarding crowd control efforts.

Portland’s police chief has downplayed the significance of the rioting, noting that it has been largely confined to a single city block. Meanwhile, Mayor Keith Wilson has criticized ICE for boarding up the windows of its local facility — a measure taken in response to frequent vandalism that Portland police have reportedly allowed to continue.

In a troubling development, ANTIFA has posted a “hit list” in Portland targeting journalists, escalating tensions within the city.

Federal authorities have stepped in to maintain law and order. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently implemented a new rule banning masks on or near federal property. This rule was fast-tracked due to Portland’s refusal to enforce existing laws, originally scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026. Instead, the ban went into effect this past Wednesday.

“I am happy with Surya’s 10-ball 20” – Legendary spinner’s huge statement on India’s captain knock in AUS vs IND 2025 4th T20I

Legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin expressed satisfaction with skipper Suryakumar Yadav’s cameo in the fourth T20I of the five-match series against Australia. The match was held at Carrara Oval in Queensland on Thursday, November 6.

Asked to bat first, India finished at 167/8 in their 20 overs, with Shubman Gill top-scoring with 46 off 39 balls, including four fours and one six. Meanwhile, skipper Suryakumar Yadav walked in at No. 4 and made 20 off 10 balls, including two sixes.

In response, Washington Sundar took three wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 119 in 18.2 overs, losing the game by 48 runs.

Following the match, during a discussion on his YouTube channel, Ashwin lauded Suryakumar’s timely knock and said:
“10 balls for 20 from Suryakumar Yadav was extremely valuable. I always think in T20 cricket, 10 balls for 20 at a 200 strike rate is more valuable because even today, Abhishek and Shubman had a decent partnership at the opening. So Surya came in and gave that amazing impetus and momentum. I would always think 10 balls for 20 is way more valuable than a strike rate of less than 125, 120, or 130 in a T20 game, unless, of course, you are chasing a game.”

He added, “If you’re chasing and players are going all out and blazing away, on one side you have to play in double gear, but today, with the wicket, everyone knows that 160 is a good score. So the way Shubman paced the innings, that’s the way he had to play, and he did that. So credit where it’s due, but I am happy with Surya’s 10-balls-20, what he could do, he did.”

Overall, in four games so far, Suryakumar has scored 84 runs at an average of 28.00 and a strike rate of 171.42.

**“Someone you cannot hit so easily” – R Ashwin heaps praise on India all-rounder**

In the same video, Ravichandran Ashwin praised Axar Patel, who won the Player of the Match award in the fourth T20I for his unbeaten 21 off 11 balls and for taking two wickets. The 39-year-old commended Axar’s bowling skills, saying:

“One thing I noticed about Axar is that batsmen are getting done on the inside, especially right-handers. Always, if you look at left-arm spinners bowling to right-handers, when they bowl quick, the ball comes inside like an arm ball. But for Axar, even when he bowls slower, the ball drops and comes in slowly like that.”

“Several times, Marsh tried to go over the covers, and Josh Inglis tried as well, but still the ball hit inside and went to the leg side.”

He continued, “So Axar’s beauty is in the changing of pace, but still not allowing the ball to go on the same line. Either the ball stops and spins a little, or the ball stops and comes inside on the same line. That makes it often a little tricky for the batsman, someone you cannot hit so easily.”

“The only challenge the Indian spin bowling attack might have in India is where the match is being played and how small the ground is. That is the only thing that will dictate how it goes,” he added.

India and Australia will return to action for the final T20I on Saturday, November 8, at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Cubs Let $10 Million 2-Time All-Star Walk in Free Agency

The 17-year career of two-time All-Star Justin Turner, widely praised for his clubhouse leadership, may have reached its end Thursday when the Chicago Cubs declined his mutual option.

Turner, a .283 lifetime hitter with a batting average that ranks him 19th among active players, now enters the free-agent market. The 40-year-old, who turns 41 in less than three weeks, could also choose to retire, though according to a report by MLB Trade Rumors, the highly respected veteran has given no public indication of his plans.

As of Thursday morning, Turner had officially elected free agency, according to an announcement by the MLB Players Association. The MLBPA did not specify whether the club or Turner himself had declined the mutual option, which would have paid the 2006 Cincinnati Reds seventh-round draft pick $10 million for the 2025 season.

Turner appeared in only 80 games for the Cubs this year and played just 14 games at his natural position of third base, where he has played 990 of his 1,758 career games. Nonetheless, he was credited with playing “a key role in helping the Cubs gel as a team and find an identity en route to the club’s first playoff berth in five years,” according to MLB.com Cubs reporter Jordan Bastian.

“The true teachers and the true teammates, they do that part without making themselves the center of attention,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell told Bastian during the Cubs’ postseason run. “Justin has a really great way of doing that. And that comes across as so authentic to his teammates, and that’s why it’s so impactful.”

The Cubs finished the season with 92 wins but ended up five games behind their regional rivals, the Milwaukee Brewers, in the National League Central. Chicago was eliminated from the playoffs by the Brewers in a full five-game Division Series matchup.

Playing for his fifth team in four seasons, Turner spent the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was considered “the Dodgers’ main clubhouse leader during his tenure with the team,” according to writer Mark Timmons of the LA Dodger Talk site.

In nine seasons with the Dodgers, Turner compiled an impressive OPS of .865, ranking him 13th in franchise history—just above Hall of Fame Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella, who posted an .860 OPS.

If Turner chooses to continue his career, he will need to find a team in need of a right-handed platoon bat. While he has historically hit left-handed and right-handed pitching about equally well, his splits became extreme in 2025. Turner posted a solid, if unspectacular, .759 OPS against lefties but struggled significantly against right-handed pitching, posting a mere .387 OPS.

As Turner weighs his next move, his leadership and experience remain valuable assets for any team looking to strengthen both its lineup and clubhouse culture.

Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) Presents at The BancAnalysts Association of Boston Conference Transcript

**Dick Manuel:** Good morning, everyone. Thank you, Gerard, for that introduction. And thank you all for being here. My name is Dick Manuel, and I’m an equity research analyst at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. I’m happy to be joined on the stage by Mike Santomassimo, CFO of Wells Fargo. Thank you, Mike, for being here.

**Dick Manuel:** Great. So let’s just jump in on the third quarter earnings call. You increased your ROTC target from 15% to 17% and now to 18%. As part of that discussion, you wanted each of the businesses to achieve best-in-class returns.

I thought we could walk through them, starting with the Consumer Bank, where the gap of the current returns is probably greatest relative to your ambitions.

So, on consumer and small business banking, can you update us on the progress you’re making in developing more of a sales culture since the OCC lifted the consent order last year? Also, could you talk about what else you see in terms of opportunities to improve the returns?

**Michael Santomassimo, Senior EVP & CFO:** Sure. Yes, let me provide a bit of backdrop on the targets, and then I’ll come back to the business itself.

If you rewind the clock a little and look back to where we started this journey at the beginning of—end of 2020, early 2021—we were at an 8% ROTC as a company. We had set targets along the way of 10%, then 15%.

When you look at where we are year-to-date, through the third quarter, we have made solid progress…

Rico Dowdle jokes about ‘GoFundMe’ after revealing NFL fined Panthers RB for ‘Key & Peele’ celebration vs. Packers

Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle turned his NFL fine into a charitable moment after being penalized for his touchdown celebration against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Following his third-quarter touchdown in the Panthers’ 16-13 victory, Dowdle mimicked the popular “Key & Peele” sketch featuring the character Hingle McCringleberry. He performed two hip thrusts before stopping. Despite adhering to the sketch’s “two-pump” rule, officials flagged him for unsportsmanlike conduct. On Wednesday, Dowdle revealed on social media that the NFL had fined him for the celebration.

Jokingly, Dowdle tweeted, “Starting a GoFundMe 🤣 they got me 🥹,” hinting at raising money to cover the fine. However, the running back took it a step further by actually launching a GoFundMe campaign—not to pay the fine, but to raise funds for the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.

“After much thought, I’ve launched a GoFundMe for my fines,” Dowdle wrote. “Key said I got three pumps but I guess the NFL disagrees.” He then explained the real purpose behind the fundraiser and praised the organization’s work in family preservation, adoption, and foster care.

“Actually, 100% of what is raised through this fundraiser will be sent to Children’s Home Society of North Carolina,” he added. “Children’s Home Society promotes the right of every child to a permanent, safe, and loving family. They specialize in education and prevention programs, family preservation, and adoption and foster care. Let’s raise some money.”

By Thursday morning, the fundraiser had already collected over $14,700.

### Comedian Keegan-Michael Key Responds

Comedian Keegan-Michael Key weighed in on the penalty. Referencing his iconic “Key & Peele” character Hingle McCringleberry, Key posted on Instagram:

“Rico! Man, you got robbed you only did two pumps. I’m sorry, man. Now I’m gonna have to write a new sketch.”

### Panthers Coach Comments on Incident

Panthers coach Dave Canales also addressed the situation:

“We’ve got to be smarter in that situation. We’ve got to make sure that we understand the rules. I might have to call up Keegan-Michael Key to get clarification on that part of it.”

### Dowdle’s Reaction to the Fine

Dowdle admitted he was initially confused by the penalty.

“From my understanding and everything I’ve learned, we go over stuff like this every week,” he said post-game. “I definitely think you’re supposed to get two pumps. Hopefully, I don’t get a fine.”

Rico Dowdle finished the game with 130 rushing yards, including a crucial 19-yard run that set up Carolina’s game-winning field goal.
