National District Mayor’s Office receives international recognition from World Urban Parks Association

Santo Domingo.- The National District Mayor’s Office received the Outstanding New Park Project Award for the Latin American Region at the World Urban Parks International Awards for the Fernández Environmental Project and Park. The recognition highlights innovative and sustainable design with a strong community impact. The project, part of Mayor Carolina Mejía’s vision to restore public spaces, transformed a 19, 000-square-meter area in the Fernández Urbanization by rehabilitating its lagoon and building a new park-resolving a 25-year stormwater drainage issue. It is one of more than 205 parks and plazas developed under Mejía’s administration, promoting a healthier and more organized Santo Domingo.
