Joel Madden Addresses Rumors Regarding Hilary Duff and Supports Her New Single

Joel Madden is putting to rest any rumors about his past relationship with Hilary Duff. The Good Charlotte frontman recently showed sweet support for the singer’s latest single, “Mature,” amid speculation that the lyrics were inspired by their romance, which lasted from 2004 to 2006.

Joel, 46, reshared an Instagram Story post from his wife, Nicole Richie, to his own account. The post features Nicole and Hilary laughing together while lying in the grass. Nicole captioned the photo, “‘Mature’ is not the word I would use to describe us,” tagging Hilary, “but regardless, this song is a BOP.”

Hilary’s new song, which she co-wrote with her husband Matthew Koma and Madison Love, reflects on a relationship she had with an older man. In the lyrics, Hilary sings, “She looks like she could be your daughter / Like me before I got smarter,” during the chorus. She continues, “When I was flattered to hear you say / You’re so mature for your age.”
