After RadarOnline.com reported that Jon Gosselin had informed TLC about Kate Gosselin’s alleged affair with her bodyguard Steve Nield, an insider revealed that the former couple was called to a private meeting with Dr. Phil McGraw. During this meeting, Dr. Phil allegedly tried to persuade Jon to fabricate aspects of his life.
According to the source, Dr. Phil “flew Jon and Kate out for this in-person meeting to be held in his office.”
**Dr. Phil’s Proposal to Jon Gosselin**
The insider explained that Dr. Phil “tried to facilitate giving Jon $2 million from TLC to stay in the marriage even though he’d already told TLC the affair was going on.” Interestingly, Steve Nield was reportedly present during this meeting.
While on the trip, Jon and Kate stayed in separate hotels. The source added, “When they met with Dr. Phil, Jon was confused why he was there.”
Dr. Phil allegedly asked if they had ever considered a marriage contract and suggested they just “pretend” for the sake of the television show. At that time, Dr. Phil was reportedly on TLC’s payroll as well.

“But Jon refused to pretend he was married to Kate,” the insider said, noting that Jon turned down the substantial monetary offer to continue faking the marriage for the show.
“He’d had enough and said his ‘life was not for sale.’”
Following their split in 2009, the show *Jon and Kate Plus 8* transitioned to *Kate Plus 8* due to Jon’s refusal to continue participating in the program.
“TLC wanted the brand to continue regardless of anything, as they were making so much money off *Jon and Kate Plus 8*,” the insider added.

Recently, Kate confirmed on a TikTok live that she has a new man who is making her “super, super happy.” It was later confirmed that the man is Steve Nield.
In the wake of her public relationship reveal, Jon spoke to the media about her alleged affair. Many questioned why Jon didn’t expose the affair earlier, but a source told RadarOnline.com that “Jon outed the affair to TLC.”
“Steve got fired, and then Kate fought for his job back, and he came back,” the source explained.
